I have been using this phone for about a month, its not heavy or bulky so much that you would notice. It is not much bigger than the old LG Viewty that I used to have and loved. I even bought the CAPDASE jacket which makes it even thicker but I feel evens up the lens side.It has a decent optical zoom and better than carrying a compact camera and a phone or simply trying to take pictures with a standard phone. It has a tripod mount and i am just waiting for a mount to arrive for the handlebars of my motorcycle so that I can take travel movies.Other negatives cited include only the 8gb internal memory, well, Its not unusual to need to buy external memeory. I upgraded to a 64gb card and put 20gb of music on, still leaving around 40gb for apps and photos. I have a pro SLR camera, with two 16gb cards, which is sufficient for my photographic needs, 40gb then, exceeds that especially when the picture size is fairly small at 16mp jpg rather than capturing RAW.Battery life is excellent, it lasts me around one day without a charge, better than the HTC I have that lasts only 8-10 hours. The battery and SIM are easily accessible from a flip up door, so this could be a second phone that you take with you on days out perhaps.My only gripes are that the picture size could be bigger, only 16mp, and tethering/ reverse tethering is complicated, having to root the phone to do the latter. There are only two USB options on the galaxy menu: camera or media device.I also don't like the fact that its not possible to initiate movies from the shutter button, although this does allow stills to be captured during filming, I would like to attach the camera to the strap of my backpack which would make the reverse of the phone inaccessible.If you travel a bit and like taking photos, this could be the phone for you.Feb 2014I am down grading review from 4 to 3*Issues that I have found:1.The lens has a glass outer in front of the auto lens cap, this tends to gets smudged and potentially scratched making the camera useless or would need an expensive repair.2.I have found that tiny specs of dust/lint have started to accumulate in front of the lens behind the glass. I just need one in the middle of the lens and the camera will not be useable.

Phone is very bulky in comparision to what it looks like in Picture. Very difficult to carry it in pocket I requested Amazon to return it but they refused to either return or exchange. It was a bad decision to purchase this phone just on the basis of photograph.

Very good camera with lots of auto settings and good results. Phone is also good but excels in camera. Samsung is also updating to Kitkat for India shortly. Russia is the first to get Kitkat and soon other countries should be receiving it.

The galaxy S4 zoom is in simple words a fusion between a Smartphone and Camera making it a smart camera. Earlier we saw one such experiment in Samsung's Galaxy Camera which was moreover a camera rather than smartphone. It was like the first generation of smart cameras. Nokia Pureview 808 was one other example of smartphone and camera fusion,
The Zoom SM-C101 is far more similar to the Galaxy S4 Mini. There is and Exynos 4212 Chipset with a Dual core 1.5 GHz Cortex A9 CPU and 1.5GB of RAM. The battery backup is slightly boosted from 1,900 mAh to 2,330 mAh. If you use 5-inch or larger touchscreen, then Zoom might feels constricted because its just 4.3-inch, while the AMOLED display would definitely improve the picture quality but the qHD display is not ideal for Zoom, we were expecting high resolution for a camera device. With camera and its components popping out from the device it is more likely to be damaged but Corning Gorilla Glass 3 layer might help protect the screen from scratches.
As the tradition of Samsung the Galaxy S4 Zoom is also having poly carbonate shell that doesn't look premium at all. Still the device manages to fit in your jeans. The device is curved from edges that won't allow device to stand on the surface so you might need a tripod stand to click pictures or you might do some hands free shooting at your luck.
Looking at its camera there is a 1/2.33 -inch, 16 Megapixels BSI CMOS sensor – the chips is great for smartphones but for cameras its not extraordinary. The f/3.1-6.3, 24-240 mm, 10x optical zoom isn't particularly ideal for low light shooting. In addition there's a 1.9 Megapixel front facing camera, for capturing self portraits and for video conferencing. There's a standard Xenon flash on the rear end.

User Interface and Software
The operating system is specially designed to focus for this camera / phone hybrid. The gadget is running latest Android v4.2.2 Jelly bean and includes Samsung's custom TouchWiz UI. Many of the feature that were introduced in Samsung Galaxy S4 are also in S4 Zoom like Smart Scroll, Palm Motion, Air View, Air Gestures, Smart Pause, Watch ON, Group Play and an LED notification are present in the device.
The Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom is restricted to consumers and is not meant for professional photographers. The default mode is Auto, with limitations adjusted to flash mode and other basics like resolution (16MP, 4:3 ratio and more options) and movie capture (1080p@30fps and 720p@60fps and VGA). The Camera also include a Expert mode which is designed for photographers, which gives them access to Program, Color Wizard and Manual Mode. There is no limit to how you can use the Zoom. With a Full Fledged version of Android running , you can download thousands of free apps on your device.
Summing Up
Some of you may like the rare hardware combination of a smartphone with a full fledged digital camera . But practically speaking carrying around a fat phone everywhere with you might not be a problem for you for first week but after that you will start feeling the annoyance of being with a huge bulk in your hands, and you will soon be fed up with its design ergonomics. Also Phone Hardware seems to be so delicate that if you drop it accidentally from a considerable height, it might cost you too much to get it back in working condition.
So we rather suggest you to go with a slim and rugged smartphone for a lesser price tag and, get yourself a separate digital camera which you might need when you want to explore the photographer inside you.
Awesome All-in-one device in my pocket

Firstly, I am very disappointed with Flipkart for showing wrong information that Flip cover
was free with this phone. However Samsung website said offer had ended.
I felt that this phone makes me complete. I have everything I need from gadgets in one device. It is really not that bulky to carry it in pocket unless you wear skin tight pants. It might be weird in beginning to use this camera designed device as phone, but eventually we get used to it. Overall, its a very satisfying, eye catching useful device with great performance.
Pros of Camphone -
1. Camera takes very high quality videos,
2. Xenon Flash is so bright that the background in the picture taken in pitch dark is clearly visible,
3. The flash lasts only milliseconds that human eyes can tolerate the sudden bright flash light without forcing the person to close the eyes and it takes the picture perfectly in that milliseconds duration.
3. Photo clarity is quite satisfying even in low light conditions without flash,
4. Phone works smooth and fast without any lags even when multitasking with several apps running in parallel.
5. Amazing battery life especially under super save mode - with basic use like calling, messaging, Facebook, chatting etc it lasts for 35-40 hours. I had taken this on my last foreign trip. I was able to take many pictures and videos and also use basic features for whole day. This is the first smartphone that I have seen with such a good battery life.
6. Bulky camera on the rear actually turned out to be advantageous for me. I hold the phone resting the bulk lens part on my forefingers and use the free thumb on touchscreen. The bulk lens part can also be used as stand to place it slant on desk to watch videos.
7. All S4 camera features including drama shot, sound shot, continuous shot etc are present in this device. Group play, Air gesture and other new S4 features are present in this device also.
8. It has got every smartphone features like NFC, Wi-Fi direct, Wi-Fi hotspot, Bluetooth, 3G, 3.5G, 4G LTE, DLNA, IR Blaster etc with latest Android Jelly Bean OS.
9. Use phone as Remote control using IR port and Samsung WatchOn App, worked smoothly with old CRT TV.
Cons -
1. Videos and pictures are noisy when zoomed beyond 7.9x. It doesn't take smooth good quality photos when completely zoomed.
2. The zoom is stepwise. I was expecting a smooth zoom where I can zoom and halt at any point. The steps taken are 1.2X, 1.4X, 1.6X, 1.8X, 2.2X, 3.1X, 4.2X, 5.6X, 7.9X, 10.0X. It is impossible to stop at any other intermediary zoom positions.
3. Cannot zoom in Panorama mode unlike in Sony / Fuji film.
4. There is no flash (flash option disabled) in Samsung's Smart modes. I have to switch to expert manual mode or auto mode to use flash,
5. Flashlight cannot be used as Torch using Android Flashlight apps.
6. The notification light is either absent or doesn't work in my device,
7. Sometimes the camera lens part gets jammed with pant pocket while taking out the phone while still sitting.
8. Zoom noise is still captured while recording video even with Quiet zoom turned on in settings. I haven't seen any camera with optical zoom that filters zoom sound completely.

Awesome Product, yes i agree when you speak over the phone, the people standing in front of you look at you with a question mark. (coz back of the phone looks likes a point and shoot camera).

Take a 10k camera, put android on it, name it GALAXY S4 (something) and whoosh people will buy that crap for 30k....
If you have even 1 thought of getting it as a camera better get a SLR...
SLR will have at-least 8 times big sensor (for nearly same price)...
A key factor which affects quality of a camera..
One more point this is not at all a phone just look at the dimensions and weight of this phone...
Best alternatives-
Nokia 808 (biggest sensor on smart phone, nearly 4 times of s4 zoom)
Nokia 1020 (slaightly smaller than 808)
Sony Xperia z1 (same sensor size as of s4 zoom)

I purchased this Phone on Feb 1st 2014 from Samsung store for 30K. I also got One Flip Case which also have cover for camera lens. Sennheiser HeadPhones, 16GB samsung micro SD card. 50 GB of Drop box. all worth around 5K. So my total cost came down to 25K. I have seen lot of 1 star ratings on this Phone. Yes I agree that the phone look odd when you speak to some one from it. The camera lens behind it looks bulky and also phone is heavier than normal slim smart phones of its class. However, if you compromise for those things then you are getting a handy phone with good phone features and a very good in fact excellent Camera. No Phone in this world has 10X Optical Zoom (Emphasizing on Optical Zoom). Sensors are almost same in all the phones of their respective classes. Picture taken at 10X optical zoom is as clear as the picture taken without zoom in Sunlight. You don't have to carry a separate DSLR camera if you go out for touring. You'll get excellent pictures with this phone.
Cons: Internal memory is only 8GB can be better. If it had 16GB then it would have been excellent.
Please read this review and make your decision and don't go by the review of 1 star reviews who are criticizing the makers of this phone. They are giving their best shot to satisfy their customer base. Please stop criticizing Phone makers and make your own decisions. Do not mislead Customers.
You can also wait for some more time to get Samsung Galaxy K Zoom which has excellent features and yet it is sleek in design. I bet in next 2 or 3 years people will forget about buying cameras and go with these Phone/Cameras. Of course professional photographers can ignore this review ;-)
