The Slingbox 120 streams Live Programs from your Standard Definition TV straight to your laptop, office desktop or tablet.

The Slingbox lets you watch your satellite TV anywhere in the city, country or the world without having to carry around a satellite dish and a television. The set-top box utilises a Place Shifting technology where signals are transmitted in real-time with no recording involved. The Slingbox 120 is a fairly straightforward gadget comprising of a Digital Media Processor and an Ethernet port. Slingbox uses a high quality streaming protocol known as SlingStream, this allows the device to adjust the streaming to sync with varying network speeds.

In its simplest sense, the Slingbox is a set-top box that captures your TV signals and transmits it anywhere in the world to an Internet connected laptop/PC. The best part about the Slingbox device is that it grants TV-like channel surf experience on your laptop with its on-screen remote control and an Electronic Program Guide (EPG).

How it works?

• You connect your TV's video output to the Slingbox (either via S-video, Composite or Coaxial Cables)
  
• The Slingbox is connected to your Home Broadband Router via an Ethernet cable
  
• The next step is to establish a connection between your Home PC/Laptop and the Slingbox(via the Router). The Slingbox server provides you with a unique Finder ID
  
• Once setup, the Slingbox grabs the video signal from your TV. The digital media processor in the Slingbox converts the signal into digital data.
  
• The Slingbox then compresses the data using a Windows or Mac compatible codec. The device now broadcasts the compressed data stream in real time via the Ethernet port.
  
• You can access the video stream on a broadband connected Laptop/Desktop anywhere in the world by downloading the SlingPlayer software onto it and entering the Finder ID.

For remotely accessing your Television you will need

• the Slingbox
  
• a Router with an Ethernet port (most mid-range Routers comes with an Ethernet port)
  
• an Audio Visual source (set-top box/Cable/DVD Player/Digital Video Recorder(DVR)
  
• a Windows or Macintosh computer in your home with high-speed Internet connectivity and a supported browser.
  
  Once you have physically setup the Home Network, you will need to sync your PC to Slingbox.com on your browser. After this, the Home Computer need not be switched on for you to access the network remotely.
