Fine powder possible in Burr Mills also
By Abhaya Venugopalon
With all Burr coffee Mills there is one problem of the fine grinding, because of how the blades work. There are 2 plates with burrs on them & the coffee seeds are crushed between the plates, unlike other grinders where there is a blade. To ensure the plates don't grind themselves the distance between them is a little high & hence the Fine ground beans also feel course. My trick has worked on all 3 burr machines i have used till now(in 15 years). Open the top jar, remove the screws on the burr plate attached to it. Cut a couple of visiting cards to the size of the burr plates along with the center opening. Make the holes for the screws in these cards at exact locations. Initially place 1 card below the plate and screw it back on and check the fineness of the powder. Want it more fine, add more cards. But be careful that the plates don't grind themselves or motor does not stick because of a plate jam. Increase to course setting if this happens. Trust me u will get the fine powder for your expresso too.
This coffee bean grinder sucks
By Sundarram P.V.on
I grind my coffee beans every time, right before i put it on a drip filter. Bought it couple of days ago, and its not worth any money.
The problems:
a: produces a very coarse grind
b: takes a lot of time to even produce
c: not that easy to take the powder out & clean.
I had hoped for a dedicated grinder to be:
a. give a finer grind
b. easy to operate
I am going back to using my mixer.
excellent product

Coffee grinders were not available in India till now and when my imported one kicked it I ordered this and I'm absolutely satisfied with it. I use it not for grinding coffee beans but for dry grinding of Indian spices like cardamom, mustard, fenugreek etc.
Pricey for what it is
By K bon
Similar grinder with full metal body is available at other shops at Rs. 1000. Besides, if you are a true coffee fan, don't waste yor money on rotary blade gringers such as this. You should invest in a ceramic grinder for real unspoilt coffee aroma. With rotary grinders, coffee will be burnt if you try to grind fine. Not at all suitable for espresso.
Kausik: The coffee freak
Okay since this is the only one available
By Megha Shethon
I had no choice but to buy this since it is one of the 2 models available here in India. The grind is pretty coarse, even at the finest setting, so using it for espresso is out of question. It can be used with regular machines and french press (press pot) coffee but you'll need to use more due to it's coarse grind. Also, it's pretty difficult to get the whole thing cleaned thoroughly.
makes a coarse grind. had to buy it as this was the only one available.

gives a coarse grind but is quite useful to grind masalas. My earlier grinder was of the same kind ut gave me a very fine powder in very less time.
Where as cleaning is concerned i had the same problem with my earlier one.
Have to be very careful with the lid as my earlier grinder was useless after the lid broke.
Over all a good product but could have been better
