Edimax is a little known brand for modems in Indian market. But without a doubt it is one of the best modems, even better than Dlink and TPLink because1. Signal strength - I used Wifi from two floors above and got 90+ signal strength, which even Dlink cannot provide. Two 5dbi signal bars do what it should do.2. Range - I am surprsised and humbled by its range. I thought Tenda provided best range and signal but I was wrong. I could use WiFi even beyond 50ft with two thick walls in between.3. Speed - The WiFi modem works quite well on poor line conditions. No connection drops so far. Speed would depend on your plan and line statistics like SNR margin, Attenuation, modulation type etc. Contact your ISP for more details.4. Support - This is their best. Edimax provides the best tech support. Just fill a form on their website and you will receive a call by the next day.5. Surge Protection - Don't worry if there is lightning in the sky. Edimax has surge protection technology which protect your modem from sudden upsurge in electric lines from lightnIngs and thunder.6. Installation - Child's play.Just connect modem using ethernet cable or RJ 45 cable to your laptop or PC. Plug your RJ11 cable to dsl port on the back of modem. Power on modem. Wait for internet lamp to turn red. Go to wireless settings and connect Edimax. Open your browser and type 192.168.2.1 on address bar. Type username admin, password 1234. Hit enter. Go to Quick set up. Follow instructions. Select your ISP and provide username and password of ISP. Now select Encapsulation as PPOE LLC if you want to use WiFi or if you want to connect to desktop pc, choose bridge mode. Name your SSID, select wireless security and type password. Click save. Wait for internet lamp to turn green. Disconnect your RJ45 cable from modem. Connect to your Modem SSID by typing your password. I am using it on BSNL Broadband. Works fine for me! ( for BSNL users with bad line conditions, use G.Dmt modulation for stable internet, just in case.)The best modem so far in Amazon India website.
