A very good insight to how Indian politics works
By Aravind Valloor Manaon
The book seems to be one which is written by a person who has a lot of first hand information. The reasons why certain things happened the way it happened have been well explained in this book.It clearly tells how a very intelligent person can become useless with selfish motives from the political leaders.Huge respect for Dr Manmohan Singh.Sing is King!!
Go only if you an hardcore fan of politics .. i felt it rather exhaustive read .Not something which you can sit an complete in one go ...But nice details by Sanjay Baru Ji ...
Super book
By Be Happyon
I highly recommend this book to anyone wanting to understand more about The Congress rule.. It is a marvelous book that everyone should read
unbiased perspective
By Rajaon
Gives a very good unbiased perspective on things inside PMO and others running the government. It's not about criticizing or praising anyone. It's a recollection of events as they occurred adding author's perspective to that.

About the Book
Manmohan has three daughters, no son; so he treats Sanjaya as a son.'-Sonia Gandhi, Outlook
In 2004 Sanjaya Baru left a successful career as chief editor of theFinancial Express to join Prime Minister Manmohan Singh as his mediaadviser in UPA 1. Singh offered him the job with the words, 'Sitting here,I know I will be isolated from the outside world. I want you to be my eyesand ears. Tell me what you think I should know, without fear or favour.'The Accidental Prime Minister is Baru's account of what it was like to Pub: 'manage' public opinion for Singh while giving us a riveting look at Indian politics as it happened behind the scenes. As Singh's spin doctor and trusted aide for four years, Baru observed up close Singh's often troubled relations with his ministers, his cautious equation with Sonia Gandhi and how he handled the big crises from managing the Left to pushing through the nuclear deal. In this book he tells all and draws for the first time a revelatory picture of what it was like for Singh to work in a government that had two centres of power.
Insightful, acute and packed with political gossip, The Accidental Prime Minister is one of the great insider accounts of Indian political life and a superb portrait of the Manmohan Singh era.
About the Author
Sanjaya Baru was chief editor of the Financial Express and BusinessStandard. He is currently director for geo-economics and strategy at theInternational Institute of Strategic Studies.good read. it gives an insight into the style of functioning in the corridors of powerItem is less priced in comparison to others thanks infibeamGood Book which revels the truth. Not very costly so easily available for general public. Manmona jee just enjoyed 10 yeas of Life as PM. he never acted as PM As PM he could do a lot of better things, but he kept his power to Soniya's Leg and mercy to be continued as PM. Itley was in in very big economic crisis but Indian Scams saved itley. So Soniya has repaied her debt to Itely as a daughter.Engrossing details of working of PMO and EGO/prestige issues between IAS/IPS and IFS lobbies. On one hand, author is trying to proove the potential and capabilities of the PM while on other hand,he is candid in telling how PM was forced to keep a low profile due to second power center.(Authority without Power of decision making)A very infromative book on the intracacies of working of PM and bureaucracy behind the scenes. In fact this book managed to change my opinion regarding MR.Manmohan singh who was hailed as the 'puppet PM'.It brings to the light on how the PM worked hard in developing the country by ushering in new reforms and initiative.
Though all his hard work fades behind the scam and corruption .He watches and ignores it as a mute bystander.
Great storyline which publicises the life of shy, quiet and humble PM.If only the PM would have read it,he would have known "it was not a stab in the back"!!!Many inside insights have been showed in this book. very informative for those who are very much interested in politics and for critic writers.Amazing first few pages i have read. It gives an insight on how the gandhi family has dominated the Government of the country for the last 60 yrs by holding all the PMs under thier foot.... MMS as is popularly known was made a slave...!!!!!Awesome book.....Deep insights into the workings of UPA Administration. Confirms everything what we always knew.....A brilliant visionary and a intelligent person who eventually could not do much due to his inability to lead and his kow-towing to the Italian [Former waitress]...Exaclamation of disgust intended....No doubt Sanjaya Baru has done a good research before writing anything. He has mintely mentioned every thing happened in Indian politics in relation with Manmohan Singh. He has briefly described the scams undertaken during Manmohan's rule.A worth reading if you have interest in politics. Finally after approx 10 years someone came with a book describing about Manmohan Singh. We all have read a lot about other politicians but Manmohan was missing from this. But sanajaya has colleted all the important events and compiled them beautifully in form of The Accidental Prime Minister. It's a beautiful reading although.Sitting on your couch and criticizing a person is the easiest job one can do. I was having very limited information about Manmohan Singh, but after reading this book I can realize how difficult it is to manage everything on such a higher position. It is very hard to make decisions when you are at such a reputed designation when people are expecting so many things from you.First of all the name "The Accidental Prime Minister" attracted me lot. The title is very catchy, it tells about unseen and unfolded pages of great Indian politics. How Manmohan Singh has handled the crucial issues like Nuclear Power and lots other. The book has lots of political gossips which after reading I felt shocked and somewhat smiled on them. It's a light book with heavy information.I wanted to extend my thank to infibeam for fast delivery. I ordered on sat around 10.00 AM and I got it on Mon by 2.00 PM. It was shipped from Mumbai to Ludhiana.Just ordered the book from infibeam and got a very delightful discount. I read about the book and it gives an insight of Indian politics. It has briefly described the political era of Manmohan Singh. Waiting to read it ASAP.
