A very-very good drive! I like it for many things which will surprise you:1. Even after very heavy usage, it is going strong.2. Very good transfer speed; much better than any WD.3. the best part is - its USB port can be removed and used with any other drive and SSD.4. Once my two months old Samsung SSD went kaput! It will not show in Bios, could not detect it in OS. Pulled out the SSD from CPU Case and inserted the USB Port of this drive into SSD and tried to use the SSD as USB Drive. Voila - SSD was detected in the OS as USB Drive. Used "Diskpart Clear all" command for the SSD. Thereafter SSD was again detected as a OS Drive.

Amazon amazes me every time with its superfast delivery and excellent packaging!My only trouble with hard disks is if continued to use on soft surfaces, eg. bed, the cable always get affected and then the slightest movement caused the hard disk to get ejected and that's trouble in the long term because of disk corruption. This has a microB connector and still it got loose and shaky after 3 months and the top panel which is approximately half an inch now presses down like a button! Wish the hardware was sturdier.Also, I have created partitions on this, so I can easily use it across multiple operating systems such as Mac.I have not used the usb 3.0 port with a 3.0 compatible device but still speeds are much better.

This 1TB External Hard Drive is actually only 931GB big (1,000,203,833,344 bytes). The specifications as given in the product details is "1024GB", which is false advertisement. I considered approaching the consumer court, but then realized that Seagate and/or Amazon will come with some technical mumbo jumbo that will prove it to be correct (considering 1kb = 1000bytes, 1mb = 1000kb, 1gb = 1000mb, and 1tb = 1000gb). So, I chose to use my feedback to warn potential customers on the actual capacity of the disk (this may be the case with other 1TB disks as well)Product quality = Very good. Performance/speed = A little below the specs on my Lenovo i5 PC when using USB 3. Price = best across all online and local stores. Delivery: Free of cost. Schedule: On time. Backup feature: Useful (includes cloud backups for those who have hi-speed unlimited internet plans). Chord length = standard (good for laptop users, not bad for PCs with USB 3 port in the front). Fit = Fits well at both ends of the chord, so less chances of getting disconnected

One of the lucky buyers who received this product for less then 4k. frankly speaking this is the cheapest deal I ever had ( same product little costly in other online shopping portals, did a good research for over a week)My personal opinion for the productPros-USB 3.00 very fast (using the default cable)-Portable and easy to carry- best product under 4k-Cons-The built quality is not that good , the upper part it seems is lose and might come out (it got lose within a month , though I got a lamination done and now m carefree)-connecting cable is very small( I have to use an extension connector otherwise I make it lay it over my desktop cabinet).-gets heat up a bit( which I think is common with all the EHD's), but u can neglect this.-Plastic body( but quality is good)Again a great service by amazon, delivery on time and no hassles. I paid cash and received this product even cheaper from Nehru place ( was lucky may be).Thanks Amazon keep up the good work.

Good product. I am posting this review after 3 years and this is working just fine. Sleek and easy to carry. I got it in an offer for 4200. Looking at the price now, I feel it was a good deal. Overall nice to have and you have the trusted brand name of Seagate.If you are looking for space on the go, just go for it.
Hard Drive malfunctioned within two months of purchase

I bought this hard drive in Feburary 2014. I am extremely disappointed with the product as well as the warranty service. I I already have WD 1 TB portable HD which I have been using from the past 3 years. But I had requirement of another hard drive so I thought I should purchase Seagate. But I cannot tell you how much I am regretting it. Therefore, there are some HARD FACTS which you should consider before purchasing this product.1) No issues with amazon.in. Prompt delivery and excellent packaging.2) Last week I noticed that my Seagate Hard drive had malfunctioned . I have hardly used it say 3-4 times. It was not getting detected by my laptop. On running seatools (Seagate diagnostic test) , the issue that emerged was some bad sector found. Anyway, since I had registered my product with Seagate the day I received it, It was well within the warranty period. So I decided to return it. I called the service center and there were more than willing to take it back. (I think Seagate must be expecting this the moment it manufactured this defective product to cheat the customers).3) Now comes the tricky part. When you reach Accel Frontline (the authorized service centre of Seagate), you are told that you they will take your hard drive back and give you another one (but please note you will not get a new product but some other repaired product which some other unfortunate customer had returned). If I had known this ,I would have never purchased Seagate. It is as good as buying a second hand product.4) Also, there is no way you can get your data back. When I asked what is the procedure to recover the data, I was told I need to write to seagate , get some authorisation from them . After that I am supposed to go to a third party vendor and get the data recovered. Also get some signature from that person on a letterhead. Excuse me! (It is as good as saying we won't do it for you and also make your life hell if you want to get it done).So , in short Loss of data+Loss of money, time and effort = Huge Disappointment and Regret.And what more should I add, I feel cheated.Anyway, now that my money is stuck, let me see how is the replacement.
