Perfect processor for all needs
By Arun mandalon
I have brought this processor from lamington road, not from flipkart as it was not available at that time.Been using it since 2 weeks. The performance of this processor is just mind blowing,i was confused as to whether take this or 8350,coz i use my pc for heavy rendering, editing and also tons of gaming coz im a vfx student. My pc runs for 12+ hrs per day,so i chose intel over amd as intel has a slightly better edge when it comes to durability and in rendering stuffs.(checked all benchmarking sites).A note to all buyers,do not go for z87 lga 1150 socket series mobo, its not compatible with devils canyon(only some are ,that also with bios upgrade)it is better to get a z97 chipset motherboard, coz these mobos are better suited for devils canyon series,i seriously suggest guys who use computers like me for gaming or whatever to buy this, and dont wait for 5th gen intel which is gonna release during diwali-christmas period. The 5th gen cost will be too high.As for the performance,4790k is 10% better than 4770K coz of its default clock speed of 4 ghz,so i dont need to explain. The tdp of this processor is just a tad bit more than 4770k,but guess what its much cooler coz devils canyons series have advanced silicon material intended for better thermals than its predecessors like 4770k.Also always take the K series of intel chips, its useless to take the non k version, coz its not unlocked, which means it wont increase its clock speed.Because this processor has a turbo frequency of 4.4Ghz with hyperthreading all 8 cores,i never needed any overclock at all,and i bet u,u also wont need it.Now my budget was tight,so i had to sacrifice a bit on my gcard.Im a true gamer :),rendering stuff lasts for 4-5 hrs max,and i do daily gaming of about 5 hrs max. Heres my conifg -
I7-4790k
Asus Z97-C motherboard (sacrificed a bit here, wanted z97-a, but i also wanted a good gfx,but turns out i made the right choice,z97-c is an awesome combo for this processor, only diff is z97-a supports sli,and has a bit more usb 3 ports)
8gb 1333mhz transcend ram, these 2 sticks are for my previous pc (a request to all,get 1600 mhz,for max performance,im gonna get it soon :),also this processor only supports 1333mhz,1600mhz ram or else it wont boot)
R9 270x dual x oc edition sapphire 2 gb(yeah,i was thinking of gtx 760,but my budget wouldnt let me,but this gfx itself is a beast)
Cooler Master Hyperx tx3 cooler(This cooler may be on par with 212 evo,and i mean it,also 212 evo will take 1 of ur ram slots, but the tx3 is fine.heres my idle and load temps-
Idle - 35-40 C
Full Load while rendering vids and stuff with HT enabled for 3-4 hrs - 70-72 C, (intel says 70-75 C is good enough for processor lifetime,so im happy, also this cooler is superquiet!!)
Cx 600 corsair psu - (600 watt is more than enough for my rig,and also this psu is silver plus bronze certified,a psu must atleast be silver+ bronze for a long life of ur components)
Nzxt source 530 case with 5 cabinet fans (i think i invested a bit more here, but i knew what i was doing,i needed a big airflow case coz of my daily usage,of 12 +hrs, this cage is the perfect full tower case for a cheap price of 6000.)
kingston 120 gb ssd (ssd is a must nowadays if u want full performance of developer softwares of adobe, autodesk, eyeon etc....also z97 mobos has Intel rapid storage technology and m2 ports,so perfomance of ssd is doubled,my pc boots in 7 seconds, and restarts in 12 seconds flat)
1 tb wd caviar green for storage
Total Cost- 65k (it was coming to 72k,but i sold my old pc parts for 7k)
Also i have, 2 yrs Old 320 gb seagate hdd,,and old samsung Dvd/Cd Rom.
Now bencharks of games,Oh my res is quite low so benchamars seems very high,1440 x 900-
Watch dogs ultra with vertical sync off and AA x 4 - 50-60 fps
Withcer 2 ultra setting with high res texutre mod with uber samplingx2 and aa x 16-constant 60 fps
Battlefield 4 ultra with no vsync and AA x 4-90-100 fps
Wolfenstein ultra with vsync off and AAx 16- constant 60fps
Crysis 3 Ultra with vsync off and AAx4- constant 60 fps
About rendering in After effects,
Ray traced file of 10 sec at full HD settings - 24 mins
previously i had phenom II 560 be which took a whooping 56 mins of the same file!!!
BOTTOM LINE-This processor will handle everything which come at it with ease,go for intel if u have budget,or go for amd fx 8350,if u are in a tight one.I have built my pc for next 5 yrs which i know will last easily :).Have fun.

Great processor, AMD processors are no match

Writing this review to help people decide whether they should buy it or not...
I have been an AMD user (Phenom II 965, then FX8350) for a while and, honestly never bothered to switch to intel due to budget and ofcourse, ignorance thinking that i7s are just gimmick. I have been a gamer for almost a decade and I love to see my Rig perform.
Trust me, no AMD processor can even come close to this processor - be it gaming, rendering, editing, compression, encryption, decryption, temperature, power consumption.
I am writing this because I am glad that I took the risk of paying double by switching from FX8350 to this little MONSTER. If you want to see real performance, then go for it.
Moral = 2xprice=2xperformance (Totally Worth the cost!)
Outstanding CPU
By Bharadwaj Pon
This is an amazing processor. It remained stable even after overclocking(went upto 4.7GHz without any performance issues). My gaming rig is as follows:
MSI Z97 Gaming 7 Motherboard, Core i7-4790K CPU, AMD R9-280X GPU, WD 1TBx2 Blue drive, SanDisk Ready Cache 32GB SSD, Corsair H100i CPU Cooler, Corsair Graphite 230T Case and Corsair Vengeance Pro 2133MHz* RAM.
The performance was outstanding and I faced no lags while playing games at high settings. I would recommend this processor to anyone.
*NOTE: This CPU will support RAM modules with speeds upto 2400MHz "IF" XMP PROFILE is enabled under DRAM settings in BIOS/UEFI.
