MI3....SPEECHLESS I'M.......Moto gonna cry.. Battery monster..
By Ketan Patilon
I am a gaming freak...
This review is for performance of the product and for the ones who are confused for the brand being chinese one.
IF U FIND IT HELPFUL, THEN PLEASE HIT THE LIKE BUTTON.
I will not mention any specs or configuration.
UPDATE:- 09/10/2014
I bought moto g2 for my dad and now will compare the two shrtly.
Anyone considering moto g2, please stay away.. Battery of moto g2 lasts only 3 hours on 3g and 7-9 hours 2g with mediocre use.. But this Mi3 monstor goes on one and half days with the same usage..
As expected , the gaming is best on Mi3,, but OK ok moto g2,
Camera:-moto g2 have too bad camera.. Mi3 camera is superb but not in low light..
Heating:- None of the phones heat rapidly but Mi3 heats up fast
SAR value of moto g2 is much higher, much closer to maximum permissible limit in india and ears pain a little bit after 10 mins of talk.
So Mi3 IS THE BEST!!!!
I love Mi3..
Only con non expandable storage...
UPDATE:-01/08
Battery:- After testing for last 5 days, I was able to get 2 and half days on normal usage with only 2g and 1 and half days with wifi+3g+little bit gaming..
Ohh boy.. Never ever thought that this mobile will provide that kind of battery backup...
I have owned android phones from past 4 years and I keep changing my phones a month or two.
FEEL:-
But now after using this mobile for 5 days, I think , I have got what I was looking for until now, I have sony lww, xperia zl, galaxy grand, lumia 525, canvas 2 colors, moto e, g, & 2012 nexus 7... & guess what, this beauty is the BEST AMONG THEM ALL....
Look:-
I just took the phone infront of my relatives and asked them the price, & everyone said it should be atleast worth 35000... It looks that much classy.. Also it feels super solid..
Gaming:-
I have been playing all the games like asphalt 8, real racing 3, riptide , frontline commando, d-day, contract killer, dead trigger, nfs most wanted , temple run - all versions, subway surfers , fifa 14, real football 12, but not even a single lag, the gameplay was the smoothest I ever tested..
CALL QUALITY:-
One of the best phone for that purpose... Sound from the earpiece is loud and clear... Good one.. No problem..
CAMERA:-
Just one word---AWESOME...
Daylight images are supercrisp... Not tested in night or low light...
But the flash is twice bright than samsung phones...Definitely...
SPEAKER & HEADPHONE OUTPUT..:-
Oh boy!!! Quite loud outputof the speakers.. Main advantage, speakers dont get covered when the phone is lying down because of the placement of the speakers.. NICE WORK XIAOMI... & what can I say about earphones.. Just use a quality earphone and you will know the real power of this mobile... My creative n sennheiser ones sound like heaven...
SAR VALUE:-
It is on higher side...1.1 W/kg and the standard limit is 1.6 W/kg...
Ears do pain a little bit after 15-20 minutes of continuous talking..
VALUE FOR MONEY:-
I think its more than value for money..
SHOULD YOU BUY IT??
YES...OF-COURSE...Just grab it as soon as you can.. Dont worry for the brand name.. It is 10 times bigger than Micromax.. Really apple of china...
CON:-
BUT THE REAL CON IS THE STORAGE SPACE, I HAD TO UNINSTALL ONE BIG GAME FOR INSTALLING THE OTHER.. RIDICULOUS STUFF.. XIAOMI SHOULD HAVE PROVIDED 32 GB INTERNAL STORAGE VERSION BY TAKING 2-3K EXTRA.
Front camera:-
It tends to guess your age more by 5-6 years.. I tested it with many friends of mine..
But it is quite a good for that price..
Even 10 times better than karbonn n lava..
Other major problem I found out is network switching. It do take a time for switching back to 3g from 2g in auto mode..
Will keep updating soon..
If you liked the review, DO HIT THE LIKE BUTTON, thank you friends, hope I helped you a little bit...
My Pegasus
By Anubhav R Mulchandanion
*** Update
My Pegasus is still going strong with the 2nd charge,16% juice still left and it's 5d 0h 24m 43s. ( With only calls, occasional 3G & Wi-Fi or should I say very very less and in battery saver mode). SS on my FB.
Present : 26-July-2014
Day 5, my MI3 was charged for the second time yesterday in 5 days. The first charge lasted for about 2 days & 17 hours with still 10% juice left.
Past
Bought three smartphones in last 7 years, first being Nokia E71 in year 2007, second was Motorola Defy in year 2011 from Flipkart and third, my DD ( delicate darling) MI3.
Present again
My Defy started giving me troubles because by mistake it was upgraded with an inappropriate ROM by me :( ( is not recognizing the battery when inserted ) so the need for a new smartphone became inevitable and also the hunt for it.
I am not a brand conscious person, as for me, good quality matters a lot and it's very difficult to please me. Now coming back; Indian smartphone market is currently flooded with smartphones starting with 2.5K to 60K so for me it was really becoming difficult to choose one, so I penned down my "must have" requirements :
1. Smartphone must be of minimum 4" screen , maximum 5".
2. Must have either Gorilla Glass or Ashai Dragontrail protection.
3. Must have either HD ( 720p ) or FHD( 1080p ) resolution
4. Decent battery life , should last for at-least 2+ days ( I don't play much games )
5. Must have android OS, stock ROM or custom UI.
6. Should be priced between 10K -20K.
Brands considered before I heard of Xiaomi:
A. Sony
B. Xolo ( don't get surprised, Q1010i is a decent device )
C. Gionee ( again don't get surprised, E6 & S5.5 are decent devices)
D. HTC ( Desire 816 )
E. Asus ( Zen phone 5)
F. Alcatel (Onetouch Idol X+)
G. Motorola ( Moto G)
Brands not considered:
A. Samsung ( unfortunately for me, S3/S4/S5 all looks the same )
B. Nokia
C. Blackberry
Brands considered after I heard and researched about Xiaomi:
1.Xiaomi ( only & only MI3, excellent product)
So MI3 was my final decision and started following Xiaomi from 4th of June. Finally I placed my order for MI3 on 21st July as I was holding a priority pass. Phone was delivered the next day around 11:30 AM at my home address,my wife accepted the package, intimated me.
To be honest, I started becoming restless as it was just 12:00 PM and every passing minute was appearing like an hour to me + someone on Flipkart complained about faulty simcard tray :(
Any-ways I reached home, an hour late, then the usual time(thanks to traffic jam because of heavy rains). Changed, had a cup of tea and finally with cleanest hands opened the package(quite nicely packed, 10/10 for FK).
And here is the beauty, a well crafted smartphone, my MI3. Will not read specifications as everyone knows about it, so let's go straight to pros & cons section:
PROS:
1. Amazing build quality, volume rocker & power buttons are quite sturdy, not loose.
2. Amazing display, bright colors, there is a glare but not that much.
3. Watching FHD videos was mesmerizing.
5. I was used to MIUI ( installed MIUI on my Motorola defy as well ) but on MI3 it looks more beautiful with loads of features.
5. There is absolutely no lag and quite snappy.
6. Brightness levels are perfect.
7. Got Antutu benchmark score of 35k+
8. No call drops, seriously, no call drops as it was cited somewhere on one of the websites.
9. Didn't face any issues related to 3G data connectivity or Wi-fi connectivity.
10. Visited some websites, zoomed in and text was quite clear & crisp.
11. Ear piece call quality was excellent, each & every word was quite clear.
12. Battery life is excellent, twice charged in 5 days. After the first charge, I made calls, was on 3G connectivity for an hour or so, watched few but small YouTube videos to check video quality on 1080p display, was on Wi-fi , upgraded to MIUI kxdmibe18.0 ( 619 MB ), Whats app etc.
13. Doesn't heat up, becomes warm a bit, but tell me, my readers, which smartphone doesn't warm up ?
14. Even on a single signal bar, I was able to give & receive calls.
15. Photographs clicked from main camera are quite outstanding, front camera is also not bad either. Clicked a selfie( entire family ), yesterday ( It was my birthday :) )
CONS:
1. Music on the loud speaker is bit on the softer side but definitely not a deal breaker , could have been better.
2. Found a bug; LED notification for missed calls not working, though for text messages it's working. Will report it soon, so that, in next release it's fixed.
Overall 100% satisfied, as at this price MI3 is an excellent & outstanding device leaving behind all the other flagship products from big brands.
Go ahead, Guys & Girls, Ladies & Gentlemen, buy this master piece from Xiaomi, if you are looking for more than a decent smartphone and flaunt it with proud.
Disclaimer: I am nowhere associated with Xiaomi or Flipkart, I am a normal person who has a strong craving for quality & looks for VFM products.
Decision Advice :- All you need to know about Mi3 ; SOLUTION for Screen black out during Calls.
By Vamsion
Hello All,
I started looking for a smart phone when my wife lost her phone and my eyes fell on Mi3 advertised on Flipkart. I am currently using Nexus 4 and this Mi3 is direct competition to Nexus 5 in terms of Specs or its even better in some aspects like camera and Battery capacity. Being skeptical, I still registered for purchasing this mobile as i trusted flipkart brand name.
My Online Research summary on Mi Brand and Xiaomi :
============================================
I soon as i heard that this is a china mobile, my doubt was about quality and durability and then i started researching about this phone and got to know that this is a well known brand in China, Malaysia, Singapore,Phillipines etc. What impressed me that it is very well respected for the quality and affordability. If you know how Apple is treated in US, its the same for these countries. Now there are entering to other markets like India under their Ex-Google executive Hugo Barra who was Google's earlier handling Google's Android related teams. All this will definitely add some points to believe in quality of Mi3.
What about the after sales service:
===========================
Mi has already launched multiple service outlets in India and it getting serviced will not be a concern for urban users. I'm from Bangalore and we got 3 service centers and one exclusive Mi store. Good news for Bangalore users.
Brand recognition in India(show Off factor):
==================================
Yes. As of now, not many people will know about this Mi3 and being a China company also doesn't add for its reputation in Indian Buyers. Only very few people who took the pain to look into latest news articles and online reviews can recognize that buying Mi3 could prove to be a wise decision. People who are big time apple/samsung might not even consider to look into it and give a blind eye for being China brand.
We decided to buy this phone after my extensive research and order for the mobile on July 22 1st sale day. With great difficulty i was able to buy it. The buying experience reminded me Mission Impossible 3(MI3).
What to Expect:
============
**** Sleek and stylish looks. Back panel is still plastic but looks premium. Not sure where exactly the Aluminum and Magnesium alloy used as mentioned. very smooth and easy to slip from a dry hand. Rubberized panel/case will give better grip.
**** SIM card try was tighter than expected. I see why some people have returned the phone just because of this. I didn't see it as a major problem though. How many time do i remove sim from a single sim device. Also, its not a Micro SIM as one would expect to see in such phones. It needs normal sim.
**** Remove Box screen protector. Else this will cause screen blackout while making calls making you unable to disconnect the calls. I see that people are complaining about this problem. For all those people, just remove the screen protector that came along with phone and try. This screen protector is blocking the proximity sensor to work as expected. Its not any fault with the phone.
**** MI UI might ask for an update and it is quiet a huge update. It needs around 600MB of data. Will work even without that update. MIUI is having very extensive customizations on top of android with lots of options and themes. It doesn't look like a typical Andriod phone. Most of the customizations are good as they make it simple and easy to use. It might take a day or two to get used completely to this MIUI.
**** Dual Flash light doesn't mean the flash will be twice as brighter as when compared to single flash devices. My Nexus 4 give more and brighter light. Feature rich Camera even for Professional use to some extent if you can compromise on zooming level.
Not talking about Positive as they are soo many. However, I miss below things. Which made me to give a 4 star rating for this mobile.
Not Dual sim.
No Ear Phones with Box. Need to buy separately.
No Micro SD slot. 13.25 GB usable memory is still a compromise for few.
Brand perception/acceptance in India(As of Today).
Not so bright Flash lights. Expected more from dual flash.
Thanks,
Vamsi
Many Words : Awesome, Fantastic, Eye Catcher, and Finally Chinese ;)
By Priyank Parikhon
Got this phone 22nd July due to Flipkart's First Subscription.
You get a priority over other customers.
Awesome Service Flipkart. Truly Valuable
Here Goes a long awaited Review Xiaomi(Shao-Me) MI3.
The Story about me and MI 3
I was in a dilemma to buy this phone. I was just waiting for S5 price to drop.
I received an email from Flipkart regarding the MI phone stating that I can buy this phone one day prior to Sale date i.e 21st July
Even while buying, I was bit confused to decide.
Nevertheless I paid the amount and I received the Product on 22nd July before Actual Sale.
While Opening the Box i was having the Mixed Feeling..
But the moment I opened the box, My eyes got blind due to its shiny Texture.
I was not able to speak for few moments and boy, I made the brilliant choice not by buying this phone, but saving 20000 for buying S5.
My First word for the Phone was Awesome for its Design. True Aluminium Finish made me feel cold.
I switched on and Again, another word was Fantastic. MIUI. Better than IOS. Although its a mimic of IOS, but this is the First UI that is optimized with the Hardware in Android.
Third word was Chinese as I could see some Chinese fonts while playing around.
The Camera is awesome. f2.2 Aperture delivered Strong Focus. Dual Led Flash. Low light Condition is a challenge
Display: I was a fan of Super Amoled, This display changed my mind. IPS Retina Display.
441 PPI delivered unmeasurable contrast.
Still Holo Black Background in IPS vs Super Amoled is dull. But Viewing angles are awesome. Brightness is Superior.
Battery: I charged yesterday to 100%. Per Hour Discharge Rate is 1+-0.2 % in standby mode Data OFF, WIFI OFF.
2+-0.4% for Data ON or WIFI ON.
Charging rate is 0.8% per min from 0-90%. from 90-100 it is 0.4 for Trickle and complete charging. Overall 2.30 Hours from 0-100
Better than S4 i own previously.
Heating Issue: HAHAHAHA.. this phone cools when you use.. ;) All my burns caused by Samsung phones got healed while using this beautiful product
Call Quality: No Distortion. Voice is clearly delivered and heard.
Network : Super Fast Wifi at Dual channel. 3G: 1.5 MBPS Down Speed for Vodafone
Performance: !!!!!! Antutu: 35135 (My Score). No doubt about it.
Design: Better than Iphone . Do i need to say more...
Summary of Things that you will Love:
Design, Display, Camera, UI, Performance
Tips for Newbies:
1. Push the Simtray Hard and it will eject. Dont worry it wont damage anything, the Build is tough.
2. Screen in Gorilla Glass but buy Screen Guard to improve tough response from moist hands as well as protect Screen
3. For Rooting, you have to modify the downloaded update MIUI 18.0 . It wont affect warranty. Rooting is not required though as all the things are easily customizable.
4. The phone will perform better if rebooted once a day.
So finally whats wrong:
1. Expandable Memory. It would be added advantage. Also no 32/64 Gb Model available
2. Dimensions: 144mm is too long. It should be 139 mm Precisely.
Why Eye Catcher?
I took the phone in my office and I notice everyone trying to steal from each other this phone. And people making deal with me for 14500 or 15000 just because they didnot got chance and not aware about it.. lolzz
Missing:
Screen Guard **URGENTLY** Required
Back Case for better grip
FAQS:
Q:Do you trust Chinese brand?
A: Yes. They manufacture better than Indian Micromax, Lava, XOLO and so on. Though they get it manufactured from China itself.
Q: Can we Root?
A: Yes. Developer's ROM is available. Careful with your Warranty
Q: Is the phone durable?
A: Well that depends on how you handle. Better than MOTO X though. Cant compete with Samsung in this case.
Q: Is Flipkart Trust Worthy.?
A: My trust for Flipkart is more than the Flagship Retail Store. I would buy AC's TV's , Refrigerator's and all the other appliances from this destination if they would supply.
Q: I still doubt to buy this phone?
A: Start over by my review again
Thanks for Reading this Awesome Review
MI3 first impressions
By Dip Ranjan Chatterjeeon
While the pros are many in this phone there are also a few cons.I will list them up.
Cons:
1. sim card tray is notoriously difficult to open. I almost thought of returning it back as i couldn't open the tray. however few attempts and a lot of force later it finally opened.
2. the phone gets heated up if you keep it in charging and update the software at the same time
3.the back looks premium but due to the flat design.. it tends to slip
Also please note the proximity sensor works when you remove the default screen guard and also the same for the front camera. So those screen going black during call will be solved just by removing the screen guard.
As for the pros there are simply too many to list them up. I will just conclude by saying that it looks and feels like a flagship phone. I won't hesitate to recommend this to other people.
keeping fingers crossed for durability.
