The Immortals of Meluha by Amish Tripathi details from flipkart
The Immortals of Meluha (Telugu) is the Telugu version of the famed book written by Amish Tripathi, depicting the Hindu God Shiva, as a Tibetan tribal drawn into the ancient Land of Meluha, and his ensuing role as saviour and protector in their war against the Chandravanshis.
Summary Of The Book
The Immortals of Meluha (Telugu), translated by Rama Sundari, from Amish Tripathi’s book, takes readers back into India’s history as early as 1900 B.C., to a civilisation known as the Land of Meluha, an ancient empire built close to perfection, by Lord Rama.
Ruled by the proud Suryavanshi clan, Meluha is in crisis, as the land’s primary river Saraswati, is nearly drying up. The empire also faces imminent danger of being attacked by the combined forces of the Chandravanshis, and the Nagas, who are in the process of waging a war on them, to establish control. The Nagas, a cursed race of physically deformed humans, with their sinister intentions and extraordinary martial skills, pose a deadly threat to the existence of the Suryavanshis.
Calling on assistance from northern India in Tibet, Daksha, the king of Meluha, invites the Gunas to their land. Shiva, their leader, and a fearless and courageous warrior, accepts the invitation. Upon their arrival in the city of Srinagar, when all the members of the tribe are suddenly taken ill, a healing procedure is carried out under the orders of Ayurvati, the Chief of medicine. Shiva consumes ‘Somras’, a healing potion of the Meluhans, and on doing so, his throat turns blue. The Meluhans take this as a sign to believe that Shiva is ‘Neelkanth’, their fabled savior, and chosen destroyer of all evil.
With the Suryavanshis now pinning all their hopes on him, would Shiva accept what seems to be his destined path, under the mantle of ‘Neelkanth’ which the Meluhans believe him to be? Moreover, would he emerge as their hero, helping them in their war to protect their land against the gathering forces of evil?
The book is based on the author’s belief that all gods were once humans, and it was their good deeds on earth that led them to be elevated and worshipped as Gods. A huge commercial success, with 1.7 million copies being sold in India alone, and rated a bestseller, by The Times Of India, and Rolling Stone India, The Immortals of Meluha was translated into many languages including Hindi, Marathi, and Telugu. This Telugu version of the book sold more than 5000 copies in just a month. Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions, bought the rights to the book, and plans to make a Bollywood film based on it.
