review of tamron 10-24 mm lens

This ultrawide lens is not performing well at 10 mm. It's having very noticeable barrel distortion at aperture 3.5 (little or more barrel distortion is present in other lens like Canon, Nikon and Tokina too but not this much). On / after aperture 8 it becomes okay at 10 mm and above. This is the only shortcomings I found. Use this lens on / above aperture 8.However, worth for it's price.

After lot of reading, surfing, browsing and deliberations, I finally bought this wonderful lens and now I am enjoying it like anything. As suggested by other users, I make it a point to set the aperture at f=8 or f=11 and do not tilt the camera upward / downward unnecessarily while shooting buildings to avoid extreme distortion. Its ability to include almost everything in front of me puts the responsibility on me for using it judiciously. For that, I read a lot of tutorials on how to use ultra wide angle lenses to get great photographs. After all, composing a scene with this kind of lens does demand some learning. Those who avoid this necessary step, may soon start feeling disappointed with their results. But that is not the fault of this lens. Or is it?
