Update: Refurbished product (sent as replacement) was worse

By V Shekhar Avasthyon
So, I had shared my review earlier. As I got the refurbished product as replacement from DLINK, it had a very bad battery and did not deliver even for a month with very limited usage. By the time I complained again, the warranty had expired...Even Micromax product is better than this. Srry DLINK - you let me down. Not expected.

Great Product in Theory but better left to the realm of the Theoretical

Does not connect with Reliance Netconnect dongles and does not connect via WLAN cable. Spent hours trying to troubleshoot with the D-Link customer support (who are patient and very committed, the only positive I've seen in this product till now) but to no avail. Works with Tata Photon though, so if you're getting this, get a Tata Photon connection. (Don't understand though, Tata Photon and Netconnect are both through Huawei dongles. Why, oh why does this not connect to Reliance then? The Huawei EC1260 is also listed as a supported device in their supported devices list. Sigh.) Pros: 1. Extremely portable 2. Great wi-fi network (once you have it working). Strong network across rooms, not what I'd expected with something as compact 3. Great to have battery support, I have wi-fi even when there is no electricity (I don't have internet though, since it doesn't connect to Reliance but I'm not complaining, am I?) Cons: 1. Trying to figure out how to work this will work your brain cells to grey 2. Will test your patience to the limit 3. You'll never know what it would have been like to have 3G wireless support in remote places where no one brings you cabled internet. Wait, even cabled internet is not much help. 4. Too expensive for a paperweight or even a powerbank

Great Product

I purchased this product as a replacement for my aging Wireless G router setup at home and not really to use it as a travel router. The DIR 510L caught my attention because it has a built in battery and I needed that to ensure seamless connectivity during power outages when each time the network would drop due to the DG switch over. I have been using this device for a month now and it serves it's intended purpose very well. I had some reservations on the range and coverage given the fact that it is after all a travel router, however I am really impressed at the range coverage. The coverage on 2.4 Ghz band is in fact better than my older router could manage even without any antennas etc sticking out and for that matter I love the form factor and product design on this one, it's very clean and minimalist. Being a dual band router it supports wireless AC standard only on the 5Ghz band though. However, none of the devices I own currently are capable of negotiating a connection in the AC mode. Given the fact that the higher frequency band has a limited range due to shorter wavelength, the range on that band is limited. There is a DLNA and media sharing option via 2 USB ports but I am not a bug fan of the shareport app or the web interface. I am struggling to find out a way to map/mount the shared drive over network, so far no luck. will update if I find anything. The other thing I miss on this is a wired Ethernet port to jack in. I am going to try using a USB to LAN adapter and see if that flies. And for the folks planning to really use it as a travel router, it also works as a 5000 mAh power bank. Overall a very good product.

Very very good router

Very very good router.its working fine. This is very useful for small house. The 5ghz range of this router is only 25 to 30 feets and 2.4 ghz range 120 to 130 feets but work fine in this price range. Only one issue of this router it's have only one wan port not lan. I using this router with huawei e397 is working very fine.

Lots of feature but lot many issues too

I purchased this product from flipkart, got it the very next day as flipkart first advantage. The very next day I noticed that the power led is red all the time. I check and got to know that this happens when the product is defective. Then confirmed with D-Link customer care and raised the return request. I got the replaced one in another couple of days. But that also has battery issue. Its only getting charged to 80% and getting drained in 2 to 2.5 hours of LAN use. I got the product which had manufacture date of Dec-2013, that means the stock flipkart is having is very old. Signal strength is also not good, 4 meters away from device has 40% of strength. But its as lot many good features which you can get on D-Link site. If battery and signal strength is good then this is one of the best device in its kind.

Don't buy. Product sent to me was not new and manufactured in 2014

By Amazon Customeron
The product sent to me was not new and had scratches all over its body. Also the product was manufactured in 2014. A Lithium ion battery only has a life of about 2 years and loses its capacity to get charged after this period of time. Hence the battery inside the product I received would not have functioned properly.

its good, net indicator light colors are confusing

By Yashon
its good, net indicator light colors are confusing. different times different colors, even when net is available also it shows red color.

It works on http protocol and not ftp.

By Nishant P.on
This device is good for all but not supported full for USB HDD / pen drive all files and folders. It works on http protocol and not ftp. It shows only few files and folders and editing / copy / paste is the worst in the application.

Comprmised functionaliy,Broken Dlna,Poor technology,Very Low range(less than 150mbps routers)

By Zobon
Hearing small sounds from inside while tilting, not proper encasement,Only one use we can say is power bank with little capacity, Dlna wifi wont show full list of folders in the drive, lots of unexpected error, should have been better alot in a 2015 device from dlink, low range
