better than canon 650 d and nikon d3200
By Dipanjan biswason
this camera is a way better performer in low light performance and noise level when comes to comparison with dslr's of other two heavy weight companies (nikon and canon).... i've tested the camera performance with my friend's nikon d3200 and my dad's 600d and this camera survived much better and the auto focus lock technology is just awesome.....
this camera performs much much faster auto focus with the kit lens when compared to other cameras in this range...
and the digital/ electronic viewfinder helped me a lot obtaining the best photo as this way what you see is what you get specially you can do all the settings with your eye on the view finder and it gonna work like you are in live view mode...
features that easily overcome canon 600d , nikon d3200 and 650d
1) much better low light performance
2) electronic view finder
3) much more color depth and dynamic range with 20 mpx
4) a in camera sensor shift image stabilization
5)great noise reduction
5)much more effects and cool things inbuilt
6)great battery back up
7)continious and faster auto focus
8)lock on auto focus
9)much light weight
10)great movie mode
only thing that is quite backward compared to those cameras is
1)a bit short screen of 2.7 inch and low pixel density compared to 3.0 inch higher pixel density
2)no battery grip available
3)lens are little costlier
so most of the people cares about photo and that definitely gives a thumbs up to slt a58k compared to those above mentioned cameras.. go for this one.. thank you and hit like please
Simply Amazing and technically advanced...

This camera is an amazing piece of equipment by Sony.
I am personally an amateur shutter bug and always wanted to own a SLR and move to the next level. Being a point n shoot user for many years I finally decided to get my hands on one of the bad boys of photography.
Initially I was confused between canon 600D, nikon 5100 and sony a58. I ruled out Nikon 5100 as the detailing, colour ratio and depth is not crisp as compared to the other two. the deal was between cannon and sony. After a lot of reasearch I went with sony. The reason being it is a new product. (April 2013) technologically more advanced at lesser price.
The picture quality on this one is mind blowing. One has to see to believe it. The features lists are endless. I liked the sweep panorama mode, you wont miss any single corner of your object that you're shooting whether it is landscape or mountains or whatever. The lock on auto focus while recording is amazing. Also noise level in high ISO is negligible unlike 600D. The night photography is commendable on this. The focus motor both inbuilt and the lens mount works in an instant. I love the blurring effect in the off focus background.
One more thing that motivated me to buy a58 is the fact that its a new product as compared to Cannon 600D which is almost 3 year old. Cannon can decide to discontinue 600D any time now and launch an upgraded version.
Thanks to sony for this beast of a machine.
Best Entry Level Camera in its segment
By Kanav Gulation
I've been using this camera for over 4 months now and I must say I'm quite impressed.
I've been using a Sony Cybershot DSC-W210 for my casual photography up until now and decided to purchase a DSLR. I had first fixed my mind on Nikon D3200 as it is quite a decent performer and my budget was 33000.
While checking out the cameras, this beauty caught my attention and I was a bit skeptic as most of Sony Cameras don't offer a decent performance in low light conditions. But not this one. The APS-C sensor with Sony BIONZ image processing techniques really live up to their name and deliver sharp images.
Although it has less megapixel count than Nikon D3200 but it delivers equally amazing results. On the plus side, it has 15 focus points and 3 cross points, way more than Nikon D3200, Nikon D5100 and Canon 600D.
The kit lens is not amazing for professionals, but for entry level and moderate users, this is a really decent set. Great for portraits and high speed photography.
Best thing about this camera is that it offers a dual microphone and autofocus in video recording, which is not offered by many cameras in this segment.
So if you are looking for an entry level DSLR with great picture quality and equally amazing video quality then this is the one you've been looking for. I admit that the accessories and lenses are a bit costly, but you can use Tamron & Sigma lenses as well which are comparatively cheaper.
In the sub 35K range, this is the best DSLR money can get you.
BEST ENTRY LEVEL DSLR

i had choice between canon eos d600 nikon 5100 and sony alpha 58. i went to the nearest retailer and compared each and every specs carefully. i felt sony a58 tops all of them .
if you are shooting in continuous mode with flash sony a58 flashes for every photo which is an advantage where as nikon and canon dont.
colour depth, image stabilization and dynamic range of sony is better
pros :- longer battery life 500-600 shots (varies from person to person), electronic view( you can see the exact photo with accurate contrast etc)finder, translucent mirror, image stabilization, 16000ISO, colour depth, partial colour, advanced creative and better shooting modes, fixed auto focus, 8fps continuous shooting mode.
cons:- alpha series is getting famous now where as canon and nikon are already famous and are best camera brands currently, lcd screen is small and has 460K dots (460K is ok but you have electronic view finder not much of draw back i say, less movie formats (you use dslr for taking photos so its upto you), 753 ISO in low light performance (where as canon gives 793 ISO which takes a little better photos in low light.

this is a good camera but it has 1 flaw it has no swivel display , many ppl think that it is a new Sony camera but it is not actually Minolta releases a model like this in the early 80s later when Sony purchased Konika - Minolta then Sony released this model after A57 with a few tweaks. In my opinion both are good for entry level ppl but if u want to be a serious photographer go for Cannon 6D or 7D they rule , all in all good for beginners.
