I had ordered a Dell Vostro 2520 Laptop (3rd Gen Ci3/ 4GB/ 500GB/ Win8). As an after thought I inquired from Dell India what they had to say if I were to buy it from them directly and not from Flipkart. With the mention of Flipkart they charged on me with full fledged Negative Propaganda, stating that : I would not be getting a genuine machine The OS would be pirated The hardware will not match with the original configuration The machine would not be from India Dell Warranty would not be applicable There would be lots and lots of problems The machine would be more than 1 year old The Dell guys advised me to buy it from them rather than from Flipkart. When I asked them to give these things in writing along with their quotation they refused. When I asked them to make public their prices on their website they refused. When I asked them to provide me the data of complaints with the name and contact details of such buyers they refused. Enough to arouse suspicion against Dell India into any educated mind. I wrote to Flipkart about it and they promptly mailed me in writing assuring me that the Laptop would be Genuine with factory loaded OS, Un Tampered and Dell Factory Sealed, with a 2013 manufacturing date. To my surprise I have received a JULY 2013 machine from Flipkart's W. S. Retail. . . Dell's another lie got nailed. The above experience is against healthy trade practices and against the laws. Dell should understand that if any shortcoming is found in the Laptop then not only Dell India but also the reseller is bound by Indian Laws to settle the grievance and also culpable under other sections of the law. No one can escape. It's about time that things became more transparent at Dell India. Buyers beware of such tactics by an entity who is stooping so low and indulging in such negative propaganda against other entity for their own means and benefits. The propaganda should be verifiable. The above incident is true and I stand by it to testify.

This is perhaps the best machine in this range. The processor (3rd Gen Core i3) with an operational clock speed of 2.4GHz (2.5GHz actually) and 3MB cache memory provides more than enough raw power for daily computing. It comes with an incredible primary memory of 4GB and a massive 500GB auxiliary memory space. Booting is lightning fast (faster than Inspiron Series), it has 1MP integrated webcam and anti-reflection HD screen. With the legacy of Dell, genuine Windows 8 (just awesome experience) license and McAfee protection it definitely has a competitive edge than others. Go for this laptop without any doubt in case you are planning to do official jobs, watch movies, surf internet or even hard-core programming (including website designing, database handling etc.). However, it won't be a good choice if you are a hard-core gamer. It does not include dedicated graphics card. Others cons: No num-pad, battery-life is so-so (avg 3.5 Hours), A touchscreen could have increased the Win 8 Metro experience.

The Order process was good and the product was delivered a day before a day it was planned. The product was good and is good value for money, using it for 2 months now and no issues so far. There was also a offer for 10% cashback for ordering on EMI credit cards. Never got this from flipkart, send many queries to them. not getting proper response. Advise others to be careful before ordering from this cash back offers.

It took close to 15 days to deliver the product for Flipkart. I have to blame flipkart but nobody for this. There was a time they used to deliver in a day. Now it is more than 15 days. This way it is not going to be too long to make customers go away from flipkart. So, Get well soon flipkart for you own sake. I was expecting a Bag as well. But, There is no bag. Most of the shops provide bags for the same price. In fact, Some comments flipkart on same product said they received the bag. I think it is important to set the expectation properly. Please do so. The product seems to be fine for the price i paid. Too early to say anything else.

Dell has really made this series of laptops keeping average daily user in mind. With such configuration, laptops with a reliable brand name are hard to find at this price. The freebies alone are worth more than Rs.1000 Contents ????? The laptop came with a charger but did NOT include a Driver CD, which almost all include with a laptop. Although I was aware of this BEFORE buying, so couldn't complain about that. BUT if you are not tech-savvy, then you might face some difficulties formatting & installing the Operating System. Looks ????? It is an eye-sore to look at! The image displayed is taken at an angle, that makes it look less ugly than it actually is! The lid's back is coated with a ribbed, rubber layer that protects the back from bumps & scratches & has horizontal lines & is more of a black (very dark shade of gray) than the advertized 'gray'. Looks thick & not very aesthetically pleasing. Although definitely NOT the most ugly thing, as I have seen far worse than this. There is NO number pad to the right & the keys are NOT back-lit. Configuration ????? For the price, this is THE BEST you can get. For the same configuration, others charge almost 20-50% more than this. ? CPU ????? The Core i5 (3rd Gen) 3230M is a very competent processor. Not only it is a third generation, but is also clocked at 3.2GHz Turbo frequency with 2 physical cores with hyperthreading, giving you a 4 cores parallel processing. Most people only consider Core i3, i5 or i7 but do NOT take into consideration the frequency (or speed) of the processor. At 3.2 GHz, it is a cream of the crop. It is capable of running any CPU intensive job at a very respectable celerity. ? Graphics ????? The integrated Intel HD Graphics 4000 offers DirectX 11, with 16 Execution Units (EUs) clocked at 650 MHz up to 1150 MHz with Turbo Boost, making it one of the faster variants. If you are a gamer, then this proficient GPU along with the more than adequate CPU, you should be able to run most of the games, even the newer ones by toning the graphic details. I was able to run Crysis 2 pretty smooth. ? RAM ????? It's 4GBs of RAM is more than most laptops 2GBs. You shouldn't be running out of memory even after disabling Virtual RAM (swapfile) Display ????? 15.6-inch LED backlit screen with a native resolution of 1366x768 pixels. It's screen is covered with a matte surface which reduces glare & also reduces finger prints on the surface. The average brightness of 237.8 cd/m² is within a good range. The screen's brightness is easily enough for outdoor use. Its matte surface also makes things easier. Connectivity ????? The only thing it misses is a USB 3.0 port. It has everything else. 3 USB 2.0 ports, 1 VGA, 1 HDMI, headphone in, microphone out, Card Reader, DVD Writer (many laptops don't come with a DVD writer, only DVD player), Gigabit-LAN, Bluetooth & WiFi. If you have a USB 3.0 external Hard Disk or Pen Drive, then you'd be sacrificing a lot of speed. It will still work, but at USB 2.0 speeds. Battery Life ????? Despite it says that it's battery lasts for upto 3 hours, I regularly get near to 6 hours of juice out of it. Although I only run MS Office & nothing else in background with brightness turned pretty down , but it is still far more than the other laptops I've dealt with. Even watching movies gives me more than the advertized 3 hours of battery! Other Thoughts: Since it comes with Ubuntu, most of your Windows softwares won't work on it. A few can work with wine under ubuntu. Plus the User Interface (UI) is different which can be very irritating if you haven't used anything except windows. Lack of Windows Apps along with a different UI might make things difficult for you. I formatted & installed Windows 8.1 on it. Since it doesn't come with a driver CD, you'd have to manually download the drivers from Dell's website. The website is user friendly, but it is still a chore to manually do it! I have also disabled a lot of unnecessary services from MSCONFIG & thus it uses less CPU, RAM & gives more battery life. This along with the dimming of screen brightness & disabling pagefile (virtual RAM) gives me more than enough, infact twice of the advertized battery life. Final Verdict ????? This is an absolute value for money, given the configuration, speed & battery life. Unless you want an aesthetically pleasing laptop or move a lot of data to & from external hard disk via USB 3.0 port, there is absolutely NO reason to NOT buy it.

Excellent laptop. A little on the heavy side. But feels very sturdy especially with the rugged plastic cladding on the top cover. This cladding also prevents the top cover from getting scratches which I highly appreciate about this laptop. Performance wise, I found it extremely fast and stable, battery backup is good, the keyboard feels very responsive though a bit noisy while typing, ample wrist space, multi-touch track pad is very good and responsive, Non reflective screen is good for the price. A few cons - No backlit keyboard. No power button light. The indicator LEDs are on the forward edge of the laptop which makes them very difficult to see. No USB 3.0. A bit on the heavy side. And mind you, its LINUX (Ubuntu) not Windows. So if you are a windows user, you are not gonna like the Ubuntu OS. You need to buy Windows separately and install. I had a copy of Windows 7 which I installed and it works great on this laptop. About flipkart, the packing was excellent and delivery was very quick. Highly recommend both Flipkart and Vostro 2520 laptop.

On paper, laptop has a good configuration in this category. But I am not happy with the finishing and specially with the keyboard. Right now I am typing on the same laptop and pressing every key pushes keyboard too much down and whole board bends like a plastic sheet. My other motivation to buy this laptop was pre-installed ubuntu 12.04 but unfortunately not all function keys work out of the box. I am a die-hard linux user. Few functions which do not work with this pre-installed version: Brightness low/high Suspend/Power management settings VGA/HDMI connection gives weird size images on TV (tried changing resolution, rate etc. but no success) Only buy if you want to save few bucks over Windows version.
