Great at lower zooms, but 16x is an overkill.
By Rajan Kinkhedeon
I am using these binoculars along with the Olympus 8x40 and the 10x50 and I must say I am quite satisfied with these. At first I was annoyed with the huge 'blind spot' at 16x zoom until I discovered that the maximum zoom will work best for subjects at least 200-300 meters away. The image also gets a bit darker and fuzzy at 16x making me wish for a larger objective lens. It is still useful for identifying those birds and animals on the other side of the lake. Please note that in no way is this bad or unusable but is certainly noticeable.
At lower zooms the performance is quite similar to the 8x40 and the 10x50, where the images are sharp, bright and clear.
Conclusion: This is a great pair of binoculars and an excellent value for money at its price (I got a further 10% discount from flipkart). The 16x zoom is a handy feature for bird watchers and wildlife enthusiasts though you will find yourself using it less often than you thought you would.
Well built. Good price.

Flipkart delivered my Olympus 8-16 x 40 Zoom DPS I Binocular within 5 days of placing the order.
This is my first binocular so I had done a bit of search on the internet before ordering. Comparable brands with similar product have a slightly higher price but I was not sure if I wanted to pay extra money for seemingly slight differences in technical specifications. I wanted something for general purpose day use and occasional sky watching, that was sturdy and economical.
The zoom function (16x) is useful in some situations but at the cost of slight loss of quality compared to base magnification of 8x. This is particularly true while star gazing. But then this is not the best model for night sky observation. For that, a 10x50mm would be a better choice becasue of it's capability to gather more light.
The construction is very good and the grip feels good to hold. Some users may find it a bit on the heavy side if they are used to the compact models.
Diopter adjustment is provided but only on the left lens so it takes a little getting used to for someone wearing spects to adjust and balance the vision from both sides.
Rubber caps a provided for protection on all the four lenses but you have to take care to not lose them as there are no straps or strings to hold the caps once you remove them. I keep them in the soft carry cover that comes with the binoculars. This carry bag is only lightly padded on the inside so be careful not to drop it or bump it with binoculars inside!
Zoom and focus adjustments work fine. Tripod mount, if needed, has to be purchased separately (not available on Flipkart at the time of writing this). Overall, I am satisfied with my purchase.
Good Product.....splendid outerlooks too....

I ordered this product immediately after i returned from my trip to Bharatpur Bird reserve.....my guide there was using Olympus 8X40 DPS I and my view and trip was amazinig with the product....i decided to get one for me as the same is very useful for a person fond of touring like me...but i opted for 8-16X40 DPSI as it sounds an advance version of the same i used.....i got it without delay on the 2nd day of order....thats for what Flipkart is know....i opned the product and found it amazing in looks, in style, and very very handy in using....... lens are fabulous and clear....the best thing is quality of carry bag Olympus is providing with this product. It is a must carry product when out of home. The only CONS that i noticed is price is exactly the same as MRP. Flipkart must consider and give some best prices for products. I guess i can get this product a little cheaper in open market outside....
Anyways..product is good for starters and is very very handy and best in quality....
Super Zoom

Really worth every penny you spend. Its an amazing binocular with super Zoom, Crisp view. This is the best binocular in the range of 5K. when you compare with 10X50 most of the time 8-16X40 stands out except during night. During night time 50mm diameter lense of 10x50 can pull a little bit more light than 8-16X40. If you are a start gazer this may not be for you. But when you look in all perceptive he is a champion.
An excellent piece

Crystal clear views, easy to focus and change magnification. A very good buy at this price if you are looking for a mid range pair of binoculars. Good for wildlife viewing even over open plains and long distances.
