Easy to Set Up & very High Transfer Speed - WD Green in a Good Looking Package.
By JeetBon
Ordered this product 6/10/2015 and delivered by 12th - Great packaging by Amazon. Bought it at 11,200/- and the seller is INTRATECH-INDIA.Underneath this My Book enclosure this is a WD Green 4TB Hard Drive (WD40EZRX) - See the attached screenshot.From a 5400 RPM Laptop HDD to this WD My Book real world transfer speed is averaging 40-80 MB/s under Windows 10 and the same goes up to 135 MB/s (proof can be seen attached screenshot) if this 7200 RPM Desktop HDD using USB 3.0 in both case.The Good :-1. Comes in NTFS format out of the box - Suitable for Windows User and Linux (Ubuntu - This one can recognize and read and write NTFS very easily)2. Large storage at affordable price point - .3.63 GB to be exact for user accessible space.3. Extremely Easy To Setup.4. Despite of Additional Power supply required the whole system also portable too.5. 3 Years Warranty coverage from WD - peace of mind.The Bad :-1. No matter if you used provided encrypted software (For Data Encryption) or not your DATA is Hardware Locked - once this USB controller gone Bad - you can open the drive enclosure and install this 3.5" SATA HDD inside of any compatible desktop computer - but your drive will be blank - you lose your stored Data....just like that.The Ugly :-1. This is a WD Green - which is known to notorious for LCC Counter which when exceeded the drive firmware will report as the drive beginning to fail/failed.
Very fast hard disk
By Snkon
Very good hard disk, I am getting 170 MB/Second speed of transfer rate through usb 3. I formatted the hd as ZFS partition using zfs on Linux. I am able to verify terabyte of data using zfs scrub in 2 hours, I transferred 1 TB zfs snapshot for another pc in my home network and received it in this external hd. Liking it and hope it is as reliable for long time

This hard drive has worked very well, so far. I play almost all my games off of the hard drive and it isn't even an SSD. The performance is great and I've not had any slowdowns because of loading the games from an external drive. There have been no issues with this product so far. Even though it is a bit dusty after sitting on my table twenty four hours of the day, seven days a week, year after year, it functions quite well without any tangible problems. Thanks Western Digital.
Great Product By: WD
By Ashish Sonawaneon
Great product By - WD* Packaging is good.* I received with-in 48 hrsGood: The new WD My Book is fast, good-looking and supports a high level of encryption.Bad: The drive doesn't support USB-C, is a bit slower than its competitors (with a higher price tag) and lacks additional features to have it stand apart.Bottom Line: Though good-looking, capacious and fast, the WD My Book has no must-have special features.Go for it.
Nice sturdy product
By Amazon Customeron
Nice sturdy product, I believe this box is drop tested. However even if I switch off sleep mode from its console, sometimes windows 10 puts it to sleep (despite a correct power plan) and I have to reset the connection again, dont really know where the problem is.Overall a very nice product, does what it is meant to. I can always use the PC to backup to gdrive or onedrive.
Review after 15 months of use
By Narayan Kulkarnion
I bought this hard drive in July 2013 and am writing this review in October 2014. Right away, I created a properly aligned partition on it and formatted it to the ext4 file system, for use with linux. I remember that I had noticed that the transfer speeds were much faster than my old USB 2.0 drive, and the USB 3.0 is definitely worth it.
Fast forward fifteen months, and the drive is almost full now, with 19 GB of free space remaining right now. In this almost full state, I ran a few benchmarks, the results are as follows.
====================
Sequential write of multiple GBs using f3write: Average speed was around 50MB/s (400mbps).
Sequential read using f3read: Average read speed was around 75MB/s (600mbps)
====================
Random read and write of 100 samples of 10 MiB each:
Average read rate (100 samples): 110 MB/s (880mbps)
Average write rate (100 samples): 140 MB/s (1120mbps)
Average access time (1000 samples): 19.72 msec.
====================
I am pretty happy with the hard drive. It has survived several power cuts while connected to a laptop, has seen temperatures in excess of 45 degrees C, and still is running fine.
(Fingers crossed, knocks on wood)
BUY IT.

I'm quickly running out of space though I'm continuously purchasing HDs. But after receiving this 4TB, I felt so relieved as if I'm having an infinite drive.
In the description, it shows that it has only 2 years limited warranty. But actually, they are giving 3 years of warranty. Hope Flipkart will update it and won't confuse customers who might give this product a second preference just because of that limited warranty(as I myself checked it in other websites, where it was metioned correctly). If it only had 2 years warranty, I would've preferred Seagate as it comes with 3 years. I'm my opinion, the warranty period shows the confidence of a maker on their products based on several tests which they do before releasing.
My 4TB drive is 60% full and the reading time is almost negligible. I'm also using it as a Time Machine backup with a seperate partition. I don't find any issues with two different partitions(Mac Extended Journal for Time Machine and NTFS for Windows).
I never ever had any problem with my Hard Discs(5 Seagates and 2 WD, both internal and external) and few of them are almost 9 years old and still working like a charm. I guess I'm just a lucky guy. I'm really satisfied with WD as the time taken to suspend the disk, when there is no read/write process and resuming it is lesser than that of Seagate's HDDs.
I hope that this will be my last external HD as I'm planning to move my entire backups into Bitcasa Infinite Drive as soon as they release a stable version. Though the broadband speed in India is still in the dark ages, cloud storage reduces the burden of having duplicates on two different HDDs.
I got Old stock

I am frequent buyer from flipkart but this time i have received a old stock and its very slow in transfer rate. New version has switch on and off buttons. Disappointment from you FLIPKART
