I hav been using this beautiful external HDD for quite a while now... I must say this...
I am least worried about me dropping it accidently because of its shockproof cover... It has very fast write speeds and also great read speeds since both my laptop and this HDD has USB 3.0. The software bundled with this HDD is pretty cool.
Recommended for clumsy people.
Transfer speeds are not that great.

This says USB 3. But since i havent bought any USB 3 device before, i am unable to comment on the exact speed. Read speed is pretty good. Write speed stay at around 80mbps to 98mbps. But the description says in GB/s which is not true i guess.
I have tried in many systems. My laptop has a USB3.0 port, as it is the latest model by HP. but still not good transfer speeds. Also its a dust magnet. attracts lots of dust. So keep it clean by using a pouch. My Opinion would be to go for Smart fish Brand. just search it in flipkart. there are many.
Otherwise there are no problems with the hard disk. One of the best hard disks ever used. Its a Beauty.
Even though my ratings are low coz of transfer speeds, my Opinion would be - BUY IT.

I am giving this product one star only because there is no after sales service center even to provide warranties within initial one year guaranty period. I bought this HDD from flipkart and unfortunately it stopped working , i could not get the address of working center inspite of calling flipkart and searching all over net. All the addresses available on internet are not operational. Beaware before buying this product
No Support if Unlucky

This is a good product, like other products from Transcend.
These usually work as advertised - rugged and shock proof, like my previous purchase - StoreJet 25H3P. Actually, that itself inspired me to buy this one from Transcend.
But if by chance, you got a faulty piece, maybe one in a hundred - that gets damaged by dropping just once - then you are pretty unlucky. Because then you would have a lot of difficulty claiming the warranty. There are very few RMA (Return Merchandise Authorization) centres - only in the metro cities - which are able to replace the product for you, and most of them are non responsive. The do not reply to your emails, reply irresponsibly on phone calls and worst of all - your complaint remains unanswered!
It's been 7 months and I am still stuck with the not-working disk and still awaiting reply from the RMA centres. I hope they respond before the end of the warranty period comes close - or else I will file legal complaint against them (i.e. Transcend).

i bought it from letsbuy on feb 14 this year for exactly 6.5K as it was not listed on flipkart at that time. I bought it after reading a lot of online reviews.
i wanted a ROBUST hard disk with exceptional Performance under 7K and this Transcend Device just fits the bill and my requirements.
With USB 3.0, the file transfer is super fast
2GB under 23 sec
22GB under 5 min 50 sec
it is U.S. military drop tested, but you wont drop it as the outer shell gives you a very very rubberized grip.
considering all the features, it is just THE BEST hard disk that you could get right now

replace my Hard disk as soon as posible.
Waste of money and loss of data

I bought Transcend Storejet 25M3 2.5inch 1TB External Hard Disk in January and transfered most of my data in it. About 40 days later it get corrupted(as soon the replacement warranty was over).I had to format to reuse worked for about 2 months properly now again not getting detected my my computer and several other friends computer.
So buy it on your own risk. I want to rate 0 but 1 is minimum so I am rating 1.
Pathetic service

it worked good for 6 months and after that the transfer rate became slow to KB,s. The main problem is even more serious which you should check before buying any product.. Transcend takes a service time of more than 3 months for any product, when I gave it to service center they told it would require 3 months and now when I checked for the duration of service all other customers are facing the same problem.. I would suggest not to buy any transcend product as it takes a long time to service in warranty period.

I got fed up with losing all data from my 2 previous drives. Apparently, most of these portable HDD's cannot tolerate even the slightest drop, no matter which brand is used. This one claims to be shockproof, and so far it has indeed withstood a couple of falls without data errors. It feels solid, with soft rubber cladding all around, which is meant to dampen any shock from falls, hard knocks etc.

Nice looks, provides very good protection, factory format in NTFS format and supports bit locker drive encryption..Only problem is the auto backup option the software needs some update... It save the backup by date so every time u backup it will create a new folder and copy again the whole thing BUT IT SHOULD ONLY COPY THOSE THAT ARE PREVIOUSLY NOT BACKED UPAmazon service is best... After purchasing it's price slashed by 170? but after writing a mail to amazon I got it refunded... Amazon provided best customer satisfaction.... 5 star for amazon

Speed was acceptable.BUT THE PRODUCT WAS 1 YEAR OLD(Purchased on Feb 2016 Date of import- Feb 2015). Seller(A1Price) sent an old product. I lost 1 year warranty while registering on Transcend website. Instead of 3 year I got only 2 year warranty. Also can not contact seller A1Price. This is very bad.

Have had this for awhile and it's travelled 3 continents with me. It's a really solid reliable and rugged investment for travellers.It's been well over a year I've had this and I haven't been delicate with it.It's been to long rough Road trips in Europe and safaris in south Africa along with wet and bumpy rides in the northeast Hills of India.
