What was delivered was a perfectly packed genuine HDD, in sealed box. Offers standard 931 GB space. There is a HTML file inside, on clicking which you are taken to online product-registration. I registered and received 3 years (and 40 days) warranty.From the beginning, the USB cable gave trouble with the USB 3.0 port (HP laptop, Windows 8.1). OS didn't recognize the HDD. I tried one USB 2.0 port, and it was readily recognized. Confused, I retried the USB 3.0 port many times, and finally after lot of fiddling, it was recognized. Even now, every connection to 3.0 port is a lot of hassle - I have to plug/unplug for a while to get it connected. Must be some cable issue. Not sure if it's worth the trouble to run around for warranty cover on this - let's see.HDD is working fine otherwise. HDD is good and solid. Looks rather expensive. On 3.0 port, speed is about 30 MBPS or less. I transferred 250 GB - not much heating noticed. There's a very nice matte-feel cushy plastic cover - it certainly will not slip from your hand that easily. The data cable is longer than expected - over 18 inches including the sockets - that's over 1.5 foot! This is so much longer than my Seagate HDD.

The drive looks good, feels good and performs good enough as well. It works seamlessly and the inbuilt automatic sleep function helps save power & increases the drive life cycle. It is sturdy enough with its extra anti shock protection on inside and outside and definitely can take few knocks and you dont have to worry about losing your data. As mine hands arent the safest around, i have dropped it a few times but nothing really had happened. The speed is good enough for copying in and out of the HDD.The Auto Back-up Option has really made any difference and i havent really found any use with the one push button.

Been using it for 3 years now. It's been great. It has never crashed or anything even once. Absolutely no data has ever been lost by it. I'm satisfied and it's my pleasure to recommend it. I've been travelling with it to work and back, and it has connected to a lot of computers, and has been through a lot rough use and movement, so belive me I know it's tough as nails too. Go for it. It does everything you'd expect from it. Very reliable.

I am giving this product one star only because there is no after sales service center even to provide warranties within initial one year guaranty period. I bought this HDD from flipkart and unfortunately it stopped working , i could not get the address of working center inspite of calling flipkart and searching all over net. All the addresses available on internet are not operational. Beaware before buying this product

This is a good product, like other products from Transcend. These usually work as advertised - rugged and shock proof, like my previous purchase - StoreJet 25H3P. Actually, that itself inspired me to buy this one from Transcend. But if by chance, you got a faulty piece, maybe one in a hundred - that gets damaged by dropping just once - then you are pretty unlucky. Because then you would have a lot of difficulty claiming the warranty. There are very few RMA (Return Merchandise Authorization) centres - only in the metro cities - which are able to replace the product for you, and most of them are non responsive. The do not reply to your emails, reply irresponsibly on phone calls and worst of all - your complaint remains unanswered! It's been 7 months and I am still stuck with the not-working disk and still awaiting reply from the RMA centres. I hope they respond before the end of the warranty period comes close - or else I will file legal complaint against them (i.e. Transcend).

i bought it from letsbuy on feb 14 this year for exactly 6.5K as it was not listed on flipkart at that time. I bought it after reading a lot of online reviews. i wanted a ROBUST hard disk with exceptional Performance under 7K and this Transcend Device just fits the bill and my requirements. With USB 3.0, the file transfer is super fast 2GB under 23 sec 22GB under 5 min 50 sec it is U.S. military drop tested, but you wont drop it as the outer shell gives you a very very rubberized grip. considering all the features, it is just THE BEST hard disk that you could get right now techradar-4.5/5 toptenreviews-9.25/10

I bought Transcend Storejet 25M3 2.5inch 1TB External Hard Disk in January and transfered most of my data in it. About 40 days later it get corrupted(as soon the replacement warranty was over).I had to format to reuse worked for about 2 months properly now again not getting detected my my computer and several other friends computer. So buy it on your own risk. I want to rate 0 but 1 is minimum so I am rating 1.

Amazon device. It has been more than 2 years that I got this drive and have been using it very rigidly. It works like a charm each time and never disappoints me. It so happened that I lost all data on it by an accidental format. However, because of the backup button on the device I was able to retrieve all the data lost with the help of restore tools available. This simply works plug and play with all windows devices. I recently got a MacBook Pro and once I connected this HDD I was only able to read the contents but cannot write, paste, modify etc., Then I researched a little and got this sorted. So, if you're a Mac user setting this hard drive up with your computer is super easy follow these steps. 1. Plug in the hard drive 2. Open up disk utility found in your applications folder inside the utilities folder 3. Next select the newly plugged in a hard drive and on the right-hand side you should see partition click on that. 4. Then inside that screen on the partition layout drop-down choose how many partitions you'd like to set up. I generally go with one partition and just use folders to organize my files. 5. Then on the right-hand side you can name the partitions and select the format. If you want your hard drive to work with your Mac for doing Time Machine backups (which I highly recommend) choose Mac OS Extended. Sometimes it's good to make two partitions and one using "MS-DOS fat" if you might be transferring files to and from a Windows machine (I do this with my friends as many of them run Windows so I have a little partition for giving them video files and the like). The reason is Windows machines and Macs can read and write to the "MS-DOS fat" format but your files will need to be under 4 GB each as that's the maximum file size it can hold. 6. Then click apply and your Mac will create all the partitions you wanted and you're good to go.
