Got this for my friend who loves to watch movies.Hence would require lot of storage for the 700mb movies.
USB 3.0 is the next big thing for storage devices,both pen drives and external hard drives with superfast transfer speeds depending on your system configuration and the hard drive speeds as well.
I am able to transfer files as large as 5gb in a matter of 60secs through the USB 3.0 ports.Haven't tested it on the USB 2 ports so cant say much about transfer speeds there.
Remember you have to have the latest USB 3.0 port on your Laptop or Desktop as well to get the full benefits of the hard drive and the superfast transfer speeds.USB 3.0 is usually coded in blue.
Even if you don't own a computer with USB 3.0 ports,then also you can buy this device and it will serve you as a future investment as most computers will come with USB 3.0 ports from now on and USB 2 will soon become a thing of the past within a couple of years.So I would say just go for it.

Not the Best Option

Hello Friends,
Did not buy this product through Flipkart. Bought this from a store 5-6 months back. Used it quite a lot, was working fine.
Few days back it stopped functioning. Tried to connect to other laptops but did not work. Had a lot of important files, now worried whether I can retrieve the data or not.
Seagate would be a better option as I will be buying that next and this time through Flipkart.
Dead in less than 10 months

The hard drive just stopped working some time back even though it was used only 7-8 times to copy data to-from PC. It was still in the bubble wrap that it came in so no question of any kind of physical impact that could have damaged it.
Important data lost.
Trying to use the warranty, hope something works out soon.

Two and a half months later I still don't have the details of a service center which can help with the warranty. Flipkart has also been unable to provide me the details. I asked them to remove the mention of a warranty because it is as good as fake, to no avail. Will reach out to Flipkart and Toshiba teams through Twitter as there isn't a satisfactory response on email from Flipkart.

I got this product sealed pack and by the Grace of Lord Jesus Christ there was no problem in it. It is working fine. Giving me upto 80mbps/sec in usb 3.0 and 28mbps/sec in usb 2.0.

It has got high speed USB 3.0 connectivity and works well with it. I haven't tested it with USB 2.0. Also, we don't get complete 500GB memory. We get around 460GB. But still nice. Worth buying it. Go with it!

Actually this item doesn't deserve one star also but just to write a review I am giving I star. O have ordered external hard drive but received internal hard drive which is of no use for me. I tried to return it back but they didn't have me returning address. This is simply cheating.

I have used this hard disk for a year now.
It's performance is very good. Reading/writing speeds are just as good as any other such device within the same price range( I am not including any stats, those numbers though might be necessary are not the deciding factor. ).
The hard disk is small and handy ( fits inside the pocket easily ).
Plus ( if any one cares ) it has got good looks too. :)

The best thing about this HDD is its speed... its average speed is 100 MB/s and this is a great performance. this speed is while copying files from PC to HDD. the speed is more when files copied from HDD to PC (around 110 MB/s).
And also the size of HDD is small so its really very easy to carry anywhere. ALSO, u only get 465 GB usable space in HDD not 500 GB.. but its not a big deal.
