I bought 3 of this HD (not from flipkart). First bought in Feb-12 working perfect absolutely no problem. Bought the second on Oct-12 but unfortunately there was a manufacturing defect (died suddenly) and got replaced for another new one on the second day of the date of purchase from the retailer itself and then working perfect. Bought the another 3rd one this Dec 6th and that is also working fine without any problem. Before u start storing data first you should completely format the HD on slow this will also remove any bad sector found during process. Then test the benchmark using HDtune pro and ATTO Disk Benchmark (free tools) this will ensure u that drive is perfect. Average speed said by Seagate in this drive is 156 MB/s. And Tested Benchmark shows a average speed between 145 MB/s to 163 MB/s and that is good. File testing Benchmark on both tools shows the Read/write speed of 200+ MB/s. Any figure on different partition above 170 MB/s is good. No matter whether you connect this HD to SATA 3.0 Gb/s or 6.0 Gb/s, in both u'll get the same speed. The actual average/constant transfer speed i've tested form one Hard Drive to the another is 140-144 MB/s (while transferring data of 300+ GB) connected at SATA III 6.0. And coping the data in a same HD varies between 52-70 MB/s. For future reliability of your data, always keep the track on it S.M.A.R.T Data. Consider wiki about information on this. And also use a cabinet fan under the Hard Drive. This will keep your Hard Drive cooler. Without fan temp rises to 44-46 degree Centigrade in summer. And drops to 36-37 after using fan. Now in winter its 26 degree centigrade. If you use your pc for very long hours in a day. I suggest to use a fan. Because HD is not precious but DATA is precious. Computer shuts down when CPU or GPU overheats but it never when Hard Drive overheats. It keeps on working in that condition. So please take care of your Hard Drive.

First of all about the product,it is okay(good for the price)that's all but i really advice you to spend a little more a get a WD drive Choosing the seller is as important as choosing a product itself.I ordered the product from "Storage solutions" and there was no response from the seller for the first 5 days until it got cancelled by seller. FLIPKART credited Rs.750 on my wallet for the incident,it was really nice of them but my original amount was refunded only after 25 days. NEVER BUY FROM THE SELLER (Don't say nobody warned you).

It works just fine, contrary to many reviews! Ordered it at 6 pm in the evening & received it by 11 am the next morning - great service Flipkart. As far as performance goes, the CrystalDiskMark 3.0.2 results on my drive show that it delivers a throughput of 140 MB/s in sequential read & 138 MB/s in sequential write. The temperature is also consistently around 40 degrees. This drive is extremely decent & is faster than all my other conventional HDDs. For this price & performance combination, would like to go in for another one soon & setup in RAID 0 mode to enhance the performance even more. Just go for it! Edited 24-Apr-15: I had eventually bought 2 of these drives & was using in RAID 0 configuration. One of these HDDs has failed within 2 years & 5 months! I feel that the reliability of these drives is a big question mark!

Got this product in decent packing. Amazing speedy delivey within 3 days by Flipkart. After reading reviews below i was taken a back to order this product which reportedly had a high failure rate. Im glad i got this in good working condition and works like magic. I did not hear any sounds from the hardisk as mentioned in other reviews and works just fine like any other Hard disk. May be its just few of them that had the flaws. I recommed this product to everyone and be fearless to buy. Cheers!

just finished installing the drive ...took a long 4 hours...my benchmarking shows avg. Speed of 137 mb/sec against the quoted 210 mb/sec. enquired seagate forum and found that the drive has two version s/n- w1****** having two platter design giving 160-170 mb/sec nd s/n-w2 ****** with an avg. Rate of 130-140 mb/sec. Mine is the second one ..so is the difference in speed. The drive also ha s criching sound like the old 320 gb hdd. I would suggest to buy it from a shop where you can check the serial no. Overall a good drive for the price. And excellent delivery by flipkart.....helped me get it from their godown as i was in a hurry.
