I got this external HDD yesterday with proper shock-resistance covering, which was quite impressive. A limited hardware warranty of 3 years also came with the package. After connecting with my Laptop it asks for online registration which took around 30 secs for me. Now when I checked the actual capacity it comes out around 465 Gb which was not that much impressive.
I created two drives of 50Gb(OS Installation) & 415Gb(Media) capacity as per my usage. My 1 yr old Thinkpad doesn't posses any USB 3.0 port, so high transfer speeds can't be utilized :( . I copied(cut-paste) 50GB of Multimedia to Drive which took around 20 min and average of 18Mb/s writing speed; though max reached 30Mb/s. Read Speeds are somewhere between 25-30 Mb/s which is quite good to stream HD movies directly from HDD.
This was my experience of 1 day usage, will definitely write in future regarding the performance.

if you are willing then go for it...
data copying speed on usb 2.0 is 40 mb/s max.
and on usb 3.0 it is near about 96 mb/s.
doesn't heats up...
thin and decent drive to carry around...
either with friends or for office... :)

I got the product delivered yesterday. No complaints. It's the best buy in the 500GB category, going by performance and price. USB 3.0 ensures that transfer is super-fast. e.g. 5 GB data transfer is done under 2 minutes!!
About Flipkart, the product was delivered in perfect condition. But i have a minor complaint. It took me 12 days to get the product. That's a long time to wait.

I purchased this external hard drive to download large numbers of photo and other files from a failing desktop computer. I really had no clear idea of how big a terabyte is but figured this could probably hold what I needed to save. After downloading several thousand large JPEG and RAW photo files, the external drive is barely a quarter full. I now use it on my laptop. I am quite happy with the purchase for the following reasons:
Pros -
Although it came with virtually no detailed instructions, it was easy to hook-up and configure,
It allows use of USB-3 ports. Although my laptop has only USB-2 ports the transfer rate is still very fast.
It stays cool when in use. I have detected no overheating problems.
A Storage is huge! I will use it primarily to store and catalog photo files and it will be sufficient for several years.
Cons -
I honestly haven't found any yet.

After long searching I bought Seagate Expansion.
Reasons:
1. My WD elements failed after 5 years and the problem is in USB 3.0 port,which is embedded in the board.Seagate uses a separate usb to sata converter within the setup.So in above case I would be able to disassemble the setup and use the disk as internal sata disk.
2.This disk is not containing any software interface and can be operated directly with explorer.This makes the operation simple and I have full control to format the disk.
3.When I registered the S/N with Seagate portal,it showed 3 yrs warranty.
For APAC region,it is 3 yrs warranty.WD gives 2 yrs warranty globally.
4.The product is manufactured on 01/2017.So not so old as happened for my iPhone (received more than 1 yr older product on Flipkart sale).
Negatives:
1. Assembled in China , then imported to India via Singapore.
2. The casing is normal plastic and not looking so shock resistant.
3.USB cable is shorter and low quality compared to my older WD elements.
Lastly , hoping to use it for a long run.If something wrong happens, I will again visit this review.
