As an emergency lamp, it does its job well enough, but it comes with an annoying feature: a remote control receptor that switches the light on very time you switch your TV on or off. It's meant to be a convenience feature, but if you station the lamp anywhere near a device you operate using a remote control, you'll have the frustrating experience of having bright light thrown at you when you least expect it, and when you certainly don't want it. I tried everything I could -- turn the lamp around 180 degrees, cover the receptor with cardboard, angle the TV remote so that it wouldn't activate the lamp -- but nothing worked. So I finally placed it in a remote-control-free room, eventhough I have no need for an emergency lamp there. I wish the Chinese manufacturer of this lamp had put some thought into its design, before adding a totally unnecessary feature to it.
