A soundbar that has no sound!
By Vishal Madanon
I had purchased this product sometime in December/2012. Initially, I was happy with it's performance and it was working just fine.
Recently (Apr/2013) the soundbar stopped producing any sound at all! So, now I had a soundbar that did not produce any sound!
Anyway, I have given it to the Philips Service center and they are trying to figure out the problem with it - they have also had it for over 10 days and are still trying to see what the problem is...
Compact Home Theatre at a great price
By Shovik Debon
Firstly, Flipkart's delivery is unmatched so keep up the good work.
Now About the system..The packaging is from Philips itself and its top notch. The Sound Bar is sleek yet a bit on the heavier side(considering 4 woofers and 2 tweeter).
Things to remember:
1) Good room filling sound(12*15 ft)
2) Bass & Treble Control with Surround Sound(This model does not come with AmbiSound)
3) The interface and remote is simple to use.
4) The USB play support more or less all the known video formats
5) The BASS is good but could have been punchier. The included Sub-Woofer is slim and feels under powered.
6) Though this cannot be compared with any stand alone 5.1 Home Theater but it tries to do the job and for it gets 7/10 in audio performance.
7) Some of the DVD's get pixellated while playing but otherwise everything is cool about this system.
I would recommend this system to anyone looking for a compact sound powerhouse, though not audiophile grade but it does the job quite respectably.
One last thing for Flipkart, though I confirmed with your executive yet you people forgot the bundle of 51 DVDs and the 4GB pen drive.
Best All-in-One Home Theatre System. Great Sound
By Radhakrishnan KGon
The sound unit really exceeded my expectations. The sound clarity was amazing, though my room is not big enough to assess the 5.1 surround sound - so really cannot comment on that aspect.
It detects the USB drives and external hard disks. The picture clarity of playback is not that great, the same file played by my Samsung TV offers much better quality output.
But my USB 3.0 - 3TB hard disk (which is 2.0 compatible) is not getting recognized, which is a down-side.
One more thing I did not like, though, was the freebies that came along with it - it is completely worthless and all Blu-ray and DVDs are really not a good complement to test the quality of the sound bar - FlipKart should package some really worthy, kick-ass movies or a Demo DVD to enjoy the power of the home theatre system. The 51-Movie DVD set is such a blunder, they are all pixelated.
Overall - I would give it a 4/5 rating. The product is certainly a must-buy and worthy for this price.
Aesthetic solution for your digital entertainment needs
By Acidon
First and foremost, Got it delivered in 2 days flat.
I got interested in this product as I was looking for a wirefree compact solution as a substitute for my LCD TV's lifeless built-in speakers.
My observations so far-:
Pros-
1. Room filling sound , bass rich
2. smart (eclectic?) looks. Reminds me of the large boomboxes/2-in-1s that we used to have back in the days
3. Easy to install
4. Feature rich - can play all sort of discs (except 3d blu rays which I don't care about), youtube and picasa support, USB to play video/audio files, ipod dock, coaxial and optical inputs to connect your TV's audio output.
5. file format support. Effortlessly played 1080p mkv , mp4 and xvid files.
Cons-
1. Could not play .mov
2. Don't expect audiophile grade SQ. I have denon + wharfedale for music and it doesn't even come close (neither I expected it to).
3. Virtual surround is... you know at the best "Virtual". Get proper 5.1 systems if you want the real thing. Don't expect "helicopters flying over your head" and "things happening behind you" experience. Having said that it does take HD movies and HD TV channel watching to a new level altogether and tries really hard to simulate that surround experience. I could feel sounds originating from all over my room when playing a high quality video file with DTS audio. I would say its does a good job at being a 2.1 sound system and the sub-woofer really adds punch to action oriented sequences.
4. Youtube "leanback" is excruciatingly painful to browse but that's how leanback is. No point blaming the product. However, i must admit once a video is up and running, its a fantastic experience (provided your internet connection is fast enough >2 mbps). One things that I would like to point out as some kind of design flaw is the inability to use remote keypad to punch in search text in youtube leanback whereas same works perfectly in picasa. The youtube on-screen keyboard can be a frustrating experience to navigate.
5. The wifi USB adapter support would have been a good feature but seems the interface is proprietary and only philips dongle is supported. Which sux as philips dongle is not only exorbitantly priced, its not even readily available in India. I almost ordered a cheap TP-Link dongle which I had to cancel after reading some posts on a different forum.
My advice: Go for it if a) You are constrained for space b) You or your significant other hates wires running around the house c)You despise your TV audio d)Your budget does not allow for a standalone blu-ray player + home theater + media player.
thanks for reply

Just what i wanted
By Arunon
I wanted to buy a home theatre system for my house.Just came across this on snapdeal.I did not want a 5.1 home theatre system as it requires lots of wires . i wanted minimal wires and good quality sound. This sound bar has an in built in blue ray player also.ALso the sound quality is upto the mark. For the price which i got it is a good value for money. You wont get a better deal forvthus price. Also you can connect a seperate bluetooth dongle and pkay songs via blue tooth.
Great Sound in compact system
By Anuj Sethon
this was really a good Buy, Great sound. Cant imagie that much amount of sound from this small bar.
few cons
cons: No bluetooth
woofer is not wireless, but doesn't need extra power so i can bear as you have to either connect the woofer to power socket or connect to Sound bar.
Major drawback i would say is it should have HDMI input ports for TVs that dont support ARC. and we can hook up all my other devices to this soundbar and one HDMI should go to TV but i missed this feature.
It plays movies from my 320Gb hard disk flawlessly. even the 10GB blueray movie.
