I have been using this product over a week and I would say that if you are looking for an external DVD writer then you should buy this product. The things that I liked about the product are- 1. The appearance is quite good. 2. The functionality is good. 3. 2 usb for laptops not providing enough power. 4. Can be used to create double layer DVD's. 5. It does not require any power adapter and its light weight makes it portable. P.S.- A good product available at cheap price, must buy if looking for an External DVD writer.

I have ordered this DVD - only after hearing from our fellow flipkarters say about this product. But... I received a 8X DVD/ CD Writer (Model No. dvd550s) as opposed to the one on display at flipkart.com which is actually a 8X DVD/CD Writer (Model No. dvd557s) inclusive of Lightscribe tech. - A bit *disappointed* about this whole product switch. I have raised a Ticket on Sunday, Dec. 2nd 2012, 01:04 Hrs. and will wait for a response. So... Until I see this through positively, I will hold back from writing *the* Review However, flipkart's package and delivery gets * * * * * (as usual)

I have been using this over a six months.its good appearance (shine black).play movies both dvd, vcd's and data cd's are all work well. writing speed is very well like as internal drive. its work well my hp laptop (vista).one usb provided enough power, so no needed two usb slots engaged with one peripheral. (Package Connecting cable type-peripheral side mini usb, , computer side Two usb2.0 ,(shape like "h" ).its lengthy(between two usb),so old computer user's don't worry about this) I am recommended this product.
