I bought 3 tabs to gift and each on sucked. Hang, hang and hang. Cannot restart, need to wait till battery to dry and forced to switch off. Overheating and charge remains only for 30 minutes. Throwed away....

I bought this tab to be gifted to my nephew. The only drawback is there isn't calling feature. Sim slot not available. Apart from the tab is okay for kids.

do you all think that micromax funbook is better than hcl me u1 then you must be mistaken? Hcl me u1 is having the best features in this price range.
Pros:-(With a comparison with micromax funbook)
1 its the most durable tablet because it has been made by a polycarbonate frame which is also used in nokia lumia 710,800 and 900.
2 it has the largest battery life in this price range,3600 mAh.
3 its looks are just and fantstic. Not like micromax funbook which gives you a cheap feel.
4 its touch acurracy and precision is the best in its price range.
Cons:-(With explanation and what to do )
1 lack of google play store
( What you can do -I got google play successfully installed on HCL ME U1 tablet. YOu need to get the googleplay.apk or com.android.vending.apk and put it in /system/apps folder (very important)
Since you wouldn't be able to get access to /system/apps folder , you need to connect your tablet to PC (install meconnect.. you can get it from HCL support ) using USB . Install Android-sdk on your laptop. Go to android-sdk/platform-tools and run
adb devices
This should list some entry showing that your tablet has been detectd
Then run adb shell
You will get a linux console shell
copy the google play.apk file or com.android.vending.apk file to /system/apps folder
and reboot
When the tablet boots , it will show a message first time as "google updating .." . Soon you will get the play icon .
This worked for me .. and should work for others )
2 speakers are not loud ( let me tell you that both micromax funbook and hcl me u1 speakers have the same loudness )

Great tablet for the price, works smooth. Battery is ok though. We can install google play through a .apk file but it is not needed. I installed all the necessary apps like facebook, opera, messengers, games through apktops.com
3rd party android market like applanet can also be installed & used. Using tata docomo 3g dongle with it.
I would say this is a great choice over micromax funbook because this is definitely better quality & this is not network locked like the funbook. Any 3g dongle/network will work in this.
The people who think that its speaker sound is low, please remove the lamination over the backside because it is reducing the speaker volume as i observed.
Overall great tablet! A must have for the price.

i have not bought this tablet....but all i want to say to those people crying over the playstore(which is not installed by the stupid HCL people) is that if...and if you have something called an android phone...go to the playstore(in the phone) and download some thing called astro file manager....next...open astro and go to application backup....then..all the apps that are downloaded in your phone will be displayed..next..click on tick mark on the application that you need to backup(example playstore)..next...go toSD card usage..there will be a folder called backup...go to the folder backup and you will find a file called apps...open that too and you will then find a file called google playstore-8014017.apk...tranfer this file to your computer and tranfer this file to your tablet.....go to the folder wherever the files are stored and click on google playstore...click install....and you are loaded with the playstore.if you yourself do not have an android phone...ask someone for their phone and follow the steps above.

yeepeeee....i installed the play store in my hcl me u1.....you can also install it in your teblet.....
it is very essy to instai a google play......first downlod the play store from your pc in the pndrive. and conect the pd to your teblet .go to the file manager open udicks and click on the google play apk file.click on install.....an it don....
really worst tab and fake promises !!!!

Dear friends,
Please do not buy this tablet at all !!!! It do not support google play and neither video calling by any third party application like skype. Its only for playing angry birds and such small games because u cannot expect nice games in HCL market. Better is go for micromax funbook or swipe tablet.
I searched a lot and then gone for this tablet due to HCL brand name but its rather cheated. Even I got cleartrip coupon from flipkart with this tab which was valid only till 31st Dec 12 on the day I got this tablet and also as mentioned in flipkart branded pouch from HCL which is nothing but cloth pouch which u normally get from HCL . So its not flipkart special offer.so even cheating by flipkart. So request u not to go for this tablet as well for flipkart.
