Worth the price for a coffee lover
By Himanshu Bhatnagaron
Starting with the basics, it's a nice looking product, a fetching combination of black plastic and glass. It's not too heavy though so be careful while handling it.
Ease of use - Nothing could be easier, fill one compartment with water, add coffee in the filter, close the lid, switch it on and voila! Hot, black, aromatic coffee ready in under three minutes! And there's a hot plate to keep the jar warm while you finish your first cup! I use it daily and cup after cup comes out hot and piping.
Just one word of advice, don't go by the measuring marks shown on the water container, I find my coffee mug's capacity is equal to 2 of their "large" cups. :)
That apart, this is a great machine and the replacement of disposable filters with a permanent one has just made your job that much easier.
If you like your drip coffee as much as I do, go for this without a second thought
Good quality drip coffee maker
By Subhankar Rayon
This is a standard drip coffee maker; also called filter coffee maker.
Reasonably good finish, good brew. For a drip coffee maker without timer, the MRP (INR 3295) is too high. Flipkart's price after discount seems reasonable (INR 1600-1800).
I have used several coffee makers at home and in office; with which I can compare,
Drip : Mr. Coffee with timer, without timer, Gevalia without timer, Oster progr, Krups
Espresso : Krups Expresso maker, DeLonghi Espresso maker
This coffee maker has a permanent plastic filter, that stains with coffee (expected). I prefer disposable paper filter (difficult to get supply of filter papers), or permanent metal filter (as in Krups, De Longhi - the machines are more expensive).
Build quality of B&D DCM600 is almost at per with my Gevalia or Mr. Coffee without timer.
Krups and De Longhi are better built; perhaps expected as they belong to a different price category. For some reason the price (MRP) of coffee makers in India are high. At this price point (INR 1700-2200) one should get a programmable coffee maker with metal filter.
Addendum : After posting this review, I noticed that Flipkart carries Oster, De Longhi and Kenwood (Krups would be a nice addition, flipkart may explore the potential demand). So check and compare before you decide, you have many options. I bought this unit following a "discount alert" on Flipkart site, and wanted to get a cheaper one for a specific purpose.
Value for money

It was a gift to a friend. He's loving it.
I have no specifications to share, but overall I can say it's a good choice from the range available, and from the price point of view.
Makes better coffee in larger quantities
By Amitabhaon
This is claimed to be a 10-cup coffee maker -- 1 coffee cup is 150 ml in US measurements. The recommended minimum water is 2 cups. Coffee mugs are 300-450 ml, depending on size, so it should not be a problem. A measuring spoon is supplied, one can assume that one spoon of coffee is needed per cup. But 2 spoons of coffee in the filter is a bit too small, and the coffee comes out a bit too light. The quality gets significantly better when more coffee is made, 6 cups onwards it is quite good.
The filter is plastic, so there is always some worry that it may tear. Also, as in any fixed filter, the pores are larger than in filter paper, which makes the drip go faster and the brew quicker, making the coffee lighter. But of course one need not worry about changing filter each time. Cleaning the filter is not easy, the stains will not go away, one has to live with that.
One major complaint I have is that the front on/off switch is thin plastic and does not respond properly from the beginning. So I have resorted to keeping it in the on position and turning it on/off with the wall switch.
