This is a good router with better features. Speed not as per specification. It again depends on the speed of the wireless adapter of your laptop. I just get connectivity of 72 Mbps I haven't seen any change in speed in my usage compared to my old one Linksys WRT54G G router. now i am just using n router. Usb connectivity is good the samba server is rock solid for my NTFS hard disk. But DLNA media server is not stable. very easy to setup as mentioned.

Outstanding product. I now own 3 of these - 1 for each house, and every single one of them is as amazing as the other.You never need to reboot them - if something has an issue, and they are asking you to reboot your router - with the Asus N66U, 99% of the time, the problem is not with the router.It has amazing features, I use these few, and they all work flawlessly:- Dual WAN failover (onto USB 3G/4G or backup ethernet line)- File Server- Print Server- Multiple wifi SSIDs with private networks and guest timeouts- VPN server- VPN client (to connect the whole house to another VPN network)- Traffic shapingIf you need a rock solid, bullet proof router, this is the product you should choose.

Good dual band router.Have been using it for the past 3 months without an issue.Much more stable on Merlin Firmware.Pros:- Easy Setup (auto detects your ISP connection type)- Good WiFi coverage even on 40% TX power- Has good forum support on ASUS as well as on smallnetbuilders.- The custom firmware gives the option to run additional plugins/addons such as privacy, ad blocking, dns encryption, open vpn etc.,.- Does not heat up on vertical position (no need to be placed in an air conditioned location, just needs decent ventilation)- Has a internal undocumented SD card slot (have not used it, as it might void warranty)- ASUS UI is good and intuitiveCons:None so far

Delivered 2 days ahead of the delivery date shown. So far no hiccups. Good range. Easy setup. If you are planning to use this with ACT broadband, it might be good to know that ACT does not allow you to access USB drives remotely. At least, it's not working for me. I can access the USB drive fine within the wifi network but not through internet.

I went for Asus, since I respect this company for making such Amazing products. However, I am sad to say, this product disappointed me a bit. I owned ASUS router before this, which faced an issue due to power fluctuation. Hence I was forced to get a new one. I went for this thinking this is the latest technology and hence would give much bigger range and faster connectivity. However, it disappointed in both, moreover it gives me a very unique problem. The router restarts itself every few minutes and takes some time to come back. Hence every few mins, I have to pause whatever it is that I am doing. Especially hence downloading without any download manager is out of question. Streaming with other devices also stops every few mins. I looked up online, quite a few people face the problem, however with no solution. Rest of the things are as promised, but unfortunately it is faltering at the very basic need. Alas !!!

Most often than not when you complain about slow speeds you're experiencing through Wi-Fi, its most likely the fault of your wireless router. While routers like these are mainly aimed for high speed internet connections, they also work well with regular connections and perform much better than your Beetel router or anything else your ISP might give you for "free". I've been using this router since October and so far I've not found any issues with it. Easy to setup and use for anyone even with basic computer skills. The Wi-Fi covers a large area and the three antennas allow you to direct the signals according to your needs. I'm getting full coverage in every area of my three bedroom apartment. At any time there are at least 5 devices connected and that does not slow down or interrupt the router at all. Even 15 and above devices would be totally fine for the router but it also depends on your connection speeds. Thanks to the Dual Band Wi-Fi setup there are no interruptions from other Wi-Fi signals or signals on the same frequency within your apartment. Haven't faced any issues with heat either. The router does get a bit hot if you keep it running all the time like I do, but no more than any of my previous routers. It does not impact performance in any way. So far it's been worth the price, have had no issues and if you're a person like me whose life revolves around the internet then you will not be disappointed with this purchase. It will also live upto expectations when you upgrade to a faster plan or a faster ISP in the future.

Asus AC66U-RT is a high performance router that is ideally suited for a home/home-office environment. However it can be used as a business router as well. The router body has a premium finish and it looks pretty solid when you hold it. The router can be wall mounted or kept on the desk both horizontally and vertically (with the help of a stand included with the router). The router boasts of WiFi AC with speeds of upto 1300Mbps. I do have a MBA with WiFi AC adapter and able to connect to this router at 1000Mbps link speed. The WiFi performance of this router is very good. I get 5Ghz signal almost throughout my house. The signal is able to travel through multiple concrete walls. The router has 3 external antennas that can be oriented in different directions to best results. The first thing that I immediately did after purchasing the router was to update the firmware with Asuswrt-Merlin custom firmware. It is very similar to the official firmware (in fact shares the same source code) however it has many significant performance improvements, bug fixes and feature additions that the official firmware lacks. For the more advanced users, there is always the Tomato and DD-WRT firmwares. The 2 USB 2.0 ports allow one to connect a USB printer, USB hard drive or a 3G/4G dongle for Internet sharing. This allows you to configure the router in Dual WAN mode in both Active/Active or Primary/Backup configurations. The maximum hard disk capacity support currently is limited to 2TB. However unlike the AC68U, this router does not support apple time machine for mac backup nor does it support the apple disk formats. Fortunately, since I already have a GoFlex NAS, that feature was not needed. AiCloud and Download Master are some of the other great features of this router. The router has an inbuilt VPN (PPTP) server. With Merlin firmware, OpenVPN and VPN Client support is also added. With the VPN server, you can connect to your home network from anywhere in the world. In case you do not have a static IP, asus provides dynamic DNS for free. The router also supports VPN clients such that router is able to connect to remote VPN servers. This is very useful when you have multiple devices that want to connect to a remote VPN server but are unable to do so. For eg VOIP phones etc. Unlike other routers from competing companies that come with a standard 1 year warranty, this router comes with a 3 years warranty. I picked up this router from Flipkart during the GOSF sale and with the promised cashback, the price worked out almost similar to the one being offered by local distributors.

This is the best home router your money can buy. Absolutely stunning in looks and a beast of a performer. The router's UI is best I have ever seen. The signals are super strong reaching every nook and corner of a ~1500 soft. apartment. Immediately after upgrading to this router, I could feel the difference. The web pages on all my devices including the iPhone, iPad and Macs were loading super fast. Just like they load up in the demos in Apple's keynotes. I stream HD movies from the iTunes store and Netflix/Hulu on my Apple TV & Xbox 360 through this router and its way faster and better than any of my previous ones. I have a 100Mbps FTTH connection which makes buying such a router a necessity. The router supports 802.11ac standards, which means it is future proof. If you have the budget, go for it. This is an amazing product.
