Images are not sharp.. Corners dark in full zoom.. AF slow.. overall ok lens for travelling purpose..
This lens has some significant limitations, but you can work around them
By Chiragon
This lens has some significant limitations. That said, if you are ok with those limitations and can work around it. You will be fine. I used it with the Canon 750D.1) The auto-focusing mechanism is slow. This may be because of a really complex lens assembly. It's not a deal breaker, but something to be aware of while shooting.2) The corners of the pictures are darker on full zoom. You can see this in pictures with light backgrounds. Like when you zoom into the moon in the day time or shooting against a blue sky.3) When the AF mechanism focuses, the lens assembly jitters before it settles down. When you release the half press, it jitters again. It does not affect the final pictures. But it is disconcerting.4) AF does not get a lock easily in the Live View mode. Even worse, I got no AF lock in broad day light. (This is apparently because of how Canon, processes AF in VF vs Live View) This is supposed to be a walkabout lens, which means that I should be able to use it in all situations, including shooting over crowds etc. If I can't get a lock on the AF in this mode, it hampers me significantly.That said, the lens is good while using with VF. Good performance in low light even at long zoom. (I will post some pictures later).If you use the camera exclusively in the VF mode or are ok with the limitations mentioned above, please go ahead and get this. The way the lens brings things closer is amazing.

bad lenses corners will be dark and auto focus is eye wash.... all my good photo capturing opportunity was spoiled due to tamron lens..... I suggest go for branded lens it's costly but worth it.

An 'Awesome' all purpose travel Super-Zoom lens - Tamron 18-270mm F/3.5 - 6.3 Di II VC PZD . 5 Stars to this one.
By Mehul Voraon
First of all I must appreciate one more time of the so many occasions to Flipkart for the best delivery service and the packaging of the lens product. \m/ Cheers!! to FLIPKART.Com. Thank you!
And now for the product part; Tamron 18-270mm F/3.5 - 6.3 Di II VC PZD.
I was contemplating buying an all-purpose super zoom, which I can carry during travel, for quite some time now (well nearly a couple of months). Before zeroing in on this lens, I researched a bit about what all-purpose travel lens are and which are the ones in the market leading the band. Nikon, Canon, Tamron, Sigma are the most known ones.
Nikon and Canon of course makes it for its own brand of DSLRs. Nikon and Canon ones are quite expensive and are too bulky to carry. The third party one, Tamron and Sigma make lens for Nikon, Canon and Sony brands. Tamron and Sigma are super small sized advanced makers of lens.
Finally zeroed in on two specific lens for the final chosen one.
1. Tamron 18-270mm F/3.5 - 6.3 Di II VC PZD
2. Sigma 18-250mm F/3.5-6.3 DC OS
These two offer nearly 15x of zoom length. Both are compact and both have a silent internal motor that helps in moving the lens elements (barrel).
After reading a lot of reviews on the Web, I finally concluded that it was Tamron.
Comparison between Tamron 18-270mm F/3.5 - 6.3 Di II VC PZD -&- Sigma 18-250mm F/3.5-6.3 DC OS
Common Strengths:
A. Incredible zoom::-
18-270mm f/3.5-6.3 Di II VC PZD - Nikon: 15x
18-250mm f/3.5-6.3 DC Macro OS HSM - Nikon: 13.9x
B. Focus motor::-
Silent focus motor
18-270mm f/3.5-6.3 Di II VC PZD - Tamron Peizo Drive
18-250mm f/3.5-6.3 DC Macro OS HSM - Sigma Hyper Sonic Motor
C. Image stabilization::-
Good image stabilization
18-270mm f/3.5-6.3 Di II VC PZD - Nikon: Tamron VC
18-250mm f/3.5-6.3 DC Macro OS HSM - Nikon: Sigma OS
D. Max focal length::-
Good telephoto
18-270mm f/3.5-6.3 Di II VC PZD - Nikon:270 mm
18-250mm f/3.5-6.3 DC Macro OS HSM -Nikon: 250 mm
E. Bokeh ::-
Both the lens produce amazingly beautiful Bokeh's(Out of focus area) which are nice and round/circular in shape at the closest possible range of distance.
Common Weaknesses:
A. Not Fast and not so Sharp::-
Typically not as sharp as prime lenses (fixed focal length). As they both are super zooms their sharpness differs and are not as fast as the fixed focal length lens like 35 mm or a 50 mm lens.
B. Both are variable aperture lenses. Narrower aperture at longer focal length
C. Zoom Creep::-
Both these lens face Zoom Creep. It is the movement of lens when unused and are facing downward during a walk or standing position. There is a Zoom/Focus lock provided in Tamron, but it is at 18mm focal length. Which is not that useful once you move the focus ring to increase the zoom. The Zoom creeps in during this time once moving out of the 18 mm focal range.
D: Chromatic Aberration::-
Both these lens face CA at longer focal length. This is less visible in the Tamron lens and to my surprise the images balanced well while generating true colored pictures. The Sigma however showed significant CA at the longer Focal length after 180 mm.
E: Expensive::- Super Zooms come at a premium price. Compare prices between different vendors and lookout for discounts/concessions before buying one. It is an investment you are making. I chose Flipkart.com for my purchase of this lens.
Uniqueness:
* The Sigma lens also has the ability of offering close focus shots. It can indeed focus very close, as close as 3.5" (9cm) from the front element of the lens, at which distance with the lens zoomed all the way out to the 250mm position the magnification is close to 1/3 life size
* In the Tamron lens, the VC (vibration control) system is very similar to that of Canon’s IS (image stabilization). Both use gyro sensors to measure lens movement and both move a group of elements to compensate.
* For Tamron, the tele maximum aperture is at F/40. This is the narrowest aperture(lens opening) the lens supports zoomed in (at the telephoto end of the focal length range).
* The Tamron produced good image quality at a wide angle. Much better than what the reviews say about Sigma lens.
* Tamron is also more popular among pros and also has good customer service and turn around time for complains.
However these(Tamron and Sigma) are not PRO Zoom lens (which are on the high expensive side and are used by professional photographers). But these ones are a average to above average level zoom lens which works quite well for a amateur and semi-pro photo enthusiast.
Final Word:
Go for it blindly and you will never regret for making Tamron as your chosen one. I would strongly recommend Tamron 18-270 PZD zoom lens to anyone looking for a compact, lightweight, all-in-one general purpose travel lens. They produce amazing good looking photos.

Good lens but not a Great One
By Manasvi Sareenon
One thing you should always consider before buying this lens, this is a pretty good lens, but not a great lens.
It will not disappoint you in your day to day photography, but it produce softer images when compare to Nikon 18-105 or Nikon 55-300 (that's a problem with all super zooms)
So again, you will get good images but not award wining great images (unless you are doing such photography where sharpness does not matter much)
* build is good.
* significantly lighter
* produce good bokeh
* it is sweet sharp point is F11 (which is 3 higher than Nikon).
* VC is pretty good, No Complains here.
* Focus is fast, but you will face difficultly catching flying birds, Focus motor is silent (but don't compare to nikon), on still object it focus perfectly.
Over all a good versatile lens, goes great with entry or mid level crop frame slr.
Not a pro lens, don't expect pro quality pictures from it.
Decent lens for the price and focal length range
By Gautam Sharmaon
For the price that i bought it, definitely there's no lens that can compete. Overall, the comparison is with Nikon 18-300 as a benchmark. Quite happy with the product.
Pros:
-Universal range- perfect for travellers who cant carry a lot of lenses and don't like to change lenses outside
- Light weight
Cons:
- Depth of field is shallow- In auto mode, need to toggle between the focus points carefully.
- Slow and noisy auto focus
- Build quality and lock button- Feels cheap compared to the competition
Perfect travel lens
By Arvind Athmalingamon
I got this lens locally and not from flipkart at a much lower price.
This is a great lens that does pretty mush everything that you want from a lens to an acceptable level
Pros
-- The 15 times zoom gives you an amazing reach and is great for shooting someone near and far
-- Great for portraits as you can zoom beyond 100 mm and get good compression of your background and decent bokeh
-- PZD motor means it will autofocus on Nikon DSLRs without the builtin motor and Auto focus is very quick through out the zoom range but not as fast as the nikon or canon
-- when you are travelling and does not have the option of carrying multiple lens or does not want to own many lens and want one lens to serve most purpose this is a suitable lens
VC
Vibration control is no gimic like some say.... at 270 mm if you are shooting at a shutter speed of 1/250 or above then you dont need VC, but to shoot at 1/20 of a second at 270mm you do need VC and it actually work, there is a huge difference in sharpness when shoot at 1/20 of a second with VC on and with it off the shot was blury..
Cons
-- can only lock it at 18mm, but it does not creep at 18 mm but as soon as you go beyond that the zoom creep is there and so the zoom lock at 18 is pointless and is uselful only when you change lens but the purpose of this lens is that you dont need to change lens often ....
-- Distorsion is very high at 18mm but at 28 its not there
-- This is not a pro lens so dont expect pro lens quality
Conclusion:
This is an allrounder and does not do anything exceptionally well but does everything resonalbly well for pro like quality you need to buy pro grade lens. This lens is for travelling and this is by far the best lens for travel and also a great option for those looking for a one lens setup, If you are considering this one just go out and get it
you will love it
WORTH EVERY PENNY .....
Amazing travel lens
By Prabodh Yatnalkaron
I had a combination of 18-55 and 55-200 mm lenses, but i used to have hell of time specially on treks and hikes when it came to changing the lens. But Tamron 18-270 mm put ended all my anxieties. This is a fantastic travel lens. I no longer have to fidget about, instead now simply concentrate on taking those spur of the moment snaps. But at the extreme zoom end I found the pictures getting real soft and loose a bit of precision but I can easily live with that. Very satisfied and have already used this lens in 2 of my travels.
Fabulous!
