Lens is good but aftersale service sucks
By Bunny99on
This lens give u awsome picture quality. Sharp images. Awsome telephoto zoom. If u r macro photography lover then this lens is perfect for u coz it has macro mode also but that macro mode will work only when lens is in 300mm zoomed. Some cons about this lens1. I couldn't find service center of this lens (if someone found then please tell me)2. Sometimes lens stucks in macro modeOverall this lens is nice but they should give some better aftersale service to their customers.

Sigma is known for making lenses for the price range that suits amateur photographers who can't afford the Nikon or Canon counterparts. And let me tell you Sigma does pretty well.
With the 70-300 F/4-5.6 Macro, they haven't let you down completely only because you are getting a pretty good and a neat price. The only other lens that might compete or beat this by a slight margin is the Canon 55-250mm F/4-5.6 IS. And that too because of the Image Stabilization that this model of Sigma 70-300mm lacks. Even without the IS, this does pretty well in good lighting situations and almost unusable under bad lighting.
If you are considering buying this, also consider the Canon 55-250 F/4-5.6 IS.

Value for Money...My first and only zoom lens
By Ravinder Mandayamon
A wonderful lens for my Canon EOS 400D. Love the macro function. Picture quality is top class...am not a professional...just a hobby, so my idea of quality may not match that of others.
Did not purchase this on Flipkart, but from a camera/lens store in 2009. Paid about 12,500/- at that time...but no regrets at all, I have had close to 3 years of great photos as a result, particularly candid portraits that I could not have had without this lens. And a few more taken in the forest
Pros:
Great macro
Enables candid captures
Great zoom
Cons:
None that impact me
nice lens
By Binoy B Gogoion
I bought this lens a few days back and it works quite good. I am not a professional photographer, so I think it serves my purpose nicely. However the only thing it lacks is Canon's Image Stabilizer facility...In low light conditions camera shake occurs and it's very difficult to get a good shot..a tripod might help but it's again difficult to carry one everywhere you go. In good light conditions you can capture nice scenes. Another problem is that the lens is quite heavy. But the real fact is that you won't get a lens better than this for such a low price..so, go for it guys...you won't regret.

Using Sigma lens 70-300 mm DG Macro with Sony SLTA37 camera
By B K Mishraon
This is an excellent piece of lens if used properly. Please do the following things for getting best result.
1. Keep the aperature at f8 to f11 for best result.
2. change the sharpness and colour saturation in camera menu to level 3.
3. Use steady shot on if using handheld shots. If using stand do switchoff the steady shot feature.
4. Use the focus enlarger facility for correct manual focusing.
5. I am using this lens and getting excellent result as a beginner of photography. For the price paid @9200.00 the results are excellent.
