With a large number of models available in the market, I was confused on which Gigabit switch to purchase for my home network. It's a very simple basic switch in a compact plastic case at a good price. I did some performance testing using Bit Torrent Sync application and got a max of 30 MBps speeds. Haven't tested long distance LAN cable performance as yet. It differentiates between Gigabit and High Speed Ethernet connections in different colors. Please remember there is no wall mount capability.

Dont buy - Wrong product listing

Do not buy this item. Flipkart is sending DES1008A 10/100 switch instead of the DGS 1008A 10/100/1000 switch.
For general information, DES1008A 10/100 switch is availabe for about Rs. 550/- on flipkart itself.
I got the wrong product and asked for replacement. Flipkart again sent the wrong product meaning they have a wrong stock altogether.
Seems flipkart advantage is ridiculous as the advantage products are being stocked and supplied by flipkart on behalf of the seller. Even during replacement call, I have informed the possibility of the listing being erroneous to the customer service executive, but still got the same wrong product as replacement.
Inconsistent speeds, not up to the mark for the price...

Switches can be fickle... after using this for a few months, one problem is inherent, this is a gigabit switch which reverts back to megabit, i.e it gives REAL speeds of 11mbps after one or two hours of operations. On resetting the switch temporarily gives 100mbps transfer speed (copying between a PC and a NAS) then after few hours goes back the same 11mbps speed.So if you want to reset the damn thing every few hours, go ahead, or buy a different brand.

Worked OK for 2 months. Does not power up ! It is quite painful to reach out to DLink for support / warranty service !Updated on Sep 23, 2018: managed to get their service centre email and worked with them to resolve the issue. They fixed the issue and returned the switch in one day - fast turnaround. Happy to see that.

Amazon delivered the product in 48 hours. The switch is quite small and works as advertised and yes it is a Gigabit Switch. The delivered color is white and not black as advertised ( doesn't matter in real world) . Pricing is at par with the market prices.
