Nice buy..

By Shashank Singhon
Product is as described. Packing could be better as driver installation CD was broken, may be because of not good enough packing and bad handling of package by courier guys. Writing this review after use of two weeks, router does its work fine. But files/torrent download on USB drive connected to router using Download Master is really a messy business.

After 3+ years of usage

By Karthy Pillaion
Using this all in one Router for more than 3 years now. When I was looking to buy my first router Iwas not satisfied with regular low end routers. Myself being in Computer Networking field had tolook in to wide array of router models. Repeater was almost a new term to regular people when Ibought this router. Also I do not want to invest heavily. Linksys and Dlink ruled the market whenit comes to Networking. I hated both brands because I do not want to see the same brands wherever Igo.One day I came across Asus RT-N13-U-B1. No one had got asus in my circle and not much reviews werefound online. I checked the specs and immediately fell in love with it. This router was 3000 INRwhen I bought it. I took the risky choice of buying this router without knowing much about theafter sale service and customer reviews. In India wireless N is more than enough as the broadband speed for home or small office users willnever cross 54Mbps in the next few years. Still we are in 2 Mbps category or 4 Mbps in 3G/4GDongle.When it arrived I was amazed to check the configuration page.It was very simple and content. The repeater function served on many occasions when I need toexpand the network. Access point function was very basic and good. The most important feature is the USB port functions. I checked 3G performance with network MTS 3Gdongle. It worked like a charm. After I got broadband service, I used HP Printer connected torouters USB port. It worked well and I think it is the most useful feature in office networks. Pendrive connected to the port will serve as the file sharing drive across the globe and of coursewith added security features. The final point I liked the most is that the Pen drive connected tothe port can be used to download movies or files from torrent servers. This feature saver lot ofenergy consumption by the computers running overnight to download files. Computers consumes aminimum of 100 watts up to 200 watts. The cost incurred by this router can be got back in less thansix months usage by switching off your computer during downloads (If you are a regular downloader)Now the pros,*** Even Though having only internal antenna, the throughput and range is quite good. Better thanlow cost external antenna routers*** The repeater function works excellent*** The router functions has internal firewall and IP/MAC address filtering*** WPS option works great for one touch wifi setup*** Speed in wifi devices was as same as the broadband input*** Wired LAN function worked as promised without a glitch*** USB had a list of features and is wow*** Not faced a single incident of dropped signal*** Have used in multiple network setups all these years and it performed wellNow the cons,*** Need at least two more USB ports to utilize all the functions of the router efficiently*** No functions to block specific websites*** The torrent download manger sometimes refuse to work and we have to remove and reconnect thepen drive*** For broadband networks where we need to enter credentials like username/passwords, the routerfunction will not work properly and we have to choose access point modeDo not go for third party firmware from DD-WRT as in many cases there will be issues in USB portfunctions. Especially torrent download and 3G dongle functions. Sometimes you may brich the routerin the process of doing so. There are few firmware updated availabel in Asus websiteOverall I am satisfied with this router. It has serverd me for more than 3 years now and still

The best Wifi router, amazing features in the price range.

I purchased this wi-fi router for sharing my 3G internet primarily but hold that is just the tip of the ice, it has plethora of other featured thrown in like independent file server, file share, printer server, web server, and independent p2p file down-loader which allows one to select the seed and let the router download the file and store it on the USB HDD attached to it. I have tested it with Photon +, Reliance and MTS data cards and it connects with no problem (select CDMA 2000 for device type as HSDPA doesn't work for MTS and Photon +). A winner all the way, it retains the wi-fi network through out and stood random interference test with flying colors. Highly recommended.

ASUS RT-N13U - Pathetic Quality

By Manoj patilon
After reading lot of positive reviews of this wifi router , I decided to buy this one. As my main purpose of this router was to share my TATA Photon+ connection to multiple wifi enabled devices. After receiving this router from FLIPKART, Setting up the router was very easy and user friendly. I used this router till August end (with 7 weeks no usage during may and June) and suddenly the router started working as 'Repeater' and no way to make it work as router. So I took it to the ASUS authrized service center in MUMBAI. who replaced the router with a brand new router. Now when i started using the router by mid september, it work fine for 2-3 weeks and suddenly the wifi signal gone, So I had to again take this router to ASUS service center. waiting for the router back from the service center. Hope it works without any future trouble. So overall the router was very easy to use but the build quality has certain issues which can ruin the real experience one can expect after paying 3K+ for this router.

RT-N13U B1 Review

By Sandeep Biswason
I was using a class B Netgear wireless router since 2003 and decided to upgrade with this class N device. In my opinion - Pros: 1. Class N router at affordable price. 2. You can use an USB drive over the network. Though read/write speed will be slow compared to direct plugging in. 3. ASUS GUI is simple and easy for the novice user. 4. Supporting f/w and utilities are available from ASUS website. 5. Fully compatible with DD-WRT. Flashing with DD-WRT opens up more features e.g. creating multiple wireless networks etc. Highly recommended. Cons: 1. Even for a small change (e.g. adding a keyword in the url filter) it reboots and the reboot takes almost a 30-50 seconds. 2. Many advanced features are not available in the ASUS GUI. 3. When a new client is added/removed, the connected client list does not update instantly. You have to press the refresh button which takes about a minute. 4. There is no option to copy the MAC of a client. It is shown only as a tooltip. 5. Flash ROM size is limited. Upgrading to DD-WRT will lose the USB feature for this reason. There are workarounds available though. 6. Does not work with my model of TATA Photon (EC156). Of late ASUS has provided a list of compatible devices. You need to check before buying. Range is satisfactory but not great. In my 1400 Sq.ft flat, it generally gives me "good" signal strength through three 5 inch thick walls but I have also seen it dropping to "poor" sometimes. I am using 20 MHz channel b/w with auto wireless mode. Update: 22/8/2013 Router has stopped detecting WAN signal after one year of use. ASUS CS replaced this with RT-N14U within warranty.

Bad, bad router

By Manjunath Son
The router just stops responding, becomes unresponsive (I have a bsnl router which works fine, so its not the internet connectivity). The reason I bought was because I didn't want my computer to be turned on 24/7 and the router takes long time to detect the pen drive, I mean really long(sometimes I have to turn off the router/reset/reconnect the lan cable etc..). I bought a transcend pen drive along with this, which was working fine, but I think the router has corrupted the pen drive, now it takes hours to copy something to the router(write speed is in 1MB/S max, it writes in KBs) Overall I am not happy with the router, this was the worst investment ever.

Excellent range and solid connection

By Siddharthon
Very under-rated product amongst all the expensive dlink, linksys routers. To put this in perspective, the wireless range is phenomenal and rock steady with 3 devices connected in a 1000 sq-ft 2bhk flat with multiple cement walls, interference etc. Thumbs up to Asus.
