Before writing review let me tell you that i am using TP Link 8968 and D Link 2750U, so comparing these two i would review 8968. Important things to consider; 1. DISCONNECT AND RECONNECT ISSUE: I Read in several reviews that it disconnects automatically while other connected PC/Mobile work fine, THIS IS TRUE, but the reason for this is something else. If you have 'QUALCOMM ATHEROS AR9~~ adapter then you will face problem, as a remedy just update your driver to latest available. Problem resolved. (Google it, if any confusion) 2. RANGE: ALMOST SAME: Rather 10% more for TP Link than D-LINK. Easyly covering two RCC roofs, from inner most room to outside covering very easily. 3. USB Modem compatibility with Tp_link is restricted to particular few modems. Vodafone K3700-Z (V3 only), K3800, Tata Photons EC156 (For V1 & V3) HUAWEI, MTS EC122 HUAWEI, MTS AC2766 ZTE, IDEA E1732 (V3 only) HUAWEI, Tata Docomo MF631 ZTE, Airtel E1731 (V3 only) HUAWEI. (Derived from TP-Link website) USB Connectivity with pendrives is restricted to 8GB only, and it works perfect. 4. FEATURES: Undoubtedly, TP LINK has more features in router configuration as compared to D Link, i liked most is bandwidth control for particular MAC addresses. 5. APPEARANCE: Appearance wise I liked D-LINk as it has indications in different color for DSL link, connectivity etc, but TP LINK is white in color and nothing is visible with indications untill you zoom in with your eyes. 6. COST: Not much difference, both are under 2K. I am using D-Link for 8 months now and TP-Link for 2 months now. PLEASE RATE MY REVIEW SO IT MAY HELP OTHERS IN NEED, as i was too confused for buying between these two. THANK YOU! CHEERS!!!!!!

I am a Network Security consultant, I have seen routers from 700rs to 1 cr, It is just to let you be sure about my assessment of this router. W8968 v3 Wireless mode bugs (ADSL mode also has configuration retention prob as i have heard...again who uses ADSL now?) 1. Router's primary function is ADSL (if you need ADSL modem then this one can be a match for you). Wireless is a secodary function and is poorly implemneted as i will write it next. 2. Bugs Bugs..!! Routers firmware is has many bugs.I have found 2 bugs just by restarting it two time (Bad testing TP-Link) a. MAC clone function is not properly applied, restart may flush your cloned MAC from memory even if it shows on admin interface. b. DNS stack is not tested properly. Drops the DNS request suddenly in the middle of nowhere.(We just keep saying wht the heck is wrong with ISP....poor ISP's has to bear curses due to shitty products). Auto DNS has this problem. You will have to configure google DNS servers(even though ISP's should work, in my condition ISP had no issue with DNS coz my other backup router still is working f9) so 400ms-1000ms delay is added and website seems to be opening slowly. c. No update for v3 firmware.....more 8-9 months will be required for update.. So guys think b4 you buy........wireless performance and other features are good. No doubt in that....

Hi Guys, At the Start of this product in Flipkart - the information regarding Antenna / Antenna Gain was 2x 3dBi - Now they have rectified it to 2x 5dBi :) - It was a great confusion among people..as Version 1 was having 3dBi & Version 2 - 5dBi antenna Gain. Recent Update to this review: Version 3 is also available :) has all the features of Version 2 with some improvement . Major Note : TD-W8968_V3 uses different chip from TD-W8968_V1&TD-W8968_V2.Therefore, it's different in web management interface between V3 with V1&V2. - Info Taken from TP-Link Website - V3 Firmware download section NOTE : Version 3 Chipset is quite slow, and Intermittent Wifi Issues, Which is why this product despite many features - its priced LOW.. However , it doesnt have Repeater functionality. It would have been a killer if they provided that feature. Hence GO for VERISON 2 Only- ITS STABLE.. Before you buy this product- let me remind you that there are two hardware versions of this device & make sure you get hardware version 2.0 found in the bottom of the box, near Model, serial Number. The advantage of V2.0 is 1. Guest Network Access provides secure Wi-Fi access for guests sharing your home or office network 2. Antenna Gain 2 x5dBi (Range is Good for 1200Sqft ... i.e. 2 Antenna with individual gain of 5dBi) You cannot find these in V 1.X product - Where Antenna Gain is only 2 x3dBi (Range is Average for 1000 Sqft ... i.e. 2 Antenna with individual gain of 3dBi) In all the online website, the specification is only 2x 5dBi for Antenna Gain, which is false, if they are supplying you with Version 1.X. You can find this information in Tp-Link Website, where it gives only Version 2.0 Specification - I found this info when I was comparing what’s the difference between V1 & V2 of the same product. Today i spoke with Tp-Link Support and confirmed that - Version 1.X has 2x3dBi Antenna.. Only in Version 2.0 they provide with 5dBi - Antenna .. Proof: You can check it out in TP-Link Website, where they provide separate DataSheet for V1 & V2 - Flipkart is not allowing me to insert the exact link of DataSheet .. So Beware... :) Hope this information helps you guys. FYI - You can get a lot cheaper in other websites -- :D

The model of the modem as advertised is 2.0 because an antennae gain of 5dbi is only available in the hardware version 2.0 However it is disheartening to have received the version 1.0 which has an antennae gain of 3dbi contrary to the specifications mentioned. Be sure to check the hardware version of the model which should be 2.0 check the official site of tplink for more details..... KNOW WHAT YOU BUY !!!!

Rewind: Nov 2012, I am in search for a better router which will be my all-in-one device. I use MTNL's Triband at home for the internet and I was in need of an ADSL 2+ router, which will have very low or zero latency (MTNL's ADSL modem can be connected to a DSL router and connection can be established too) Jan 2013, I find this beautiful WiFi router TP-Link TD-W8968 listed on their company website; beautiful because of the features that are packed in it. I can't find it available on any of the e-commerce websites or even Flipkart. Frustrated with waiting for almost 3 months, I called up their India authorized dealer and inquired about this product's availability, but my bad luck was such that it was NOT available in India. By now, I had made up my mind to buy this or not buy any router at all. March 2013 first week, My last hope was withering away and I had given up on its listing to be available anytime soon. But to my sweet surprise, this piece was listed on Flipkart's website. Without any hesitation, I ordered this product on Flipkart (I was desperate by now!) Flipkart helped me expedite this product's delivery on request! Thanks a ton FK guys! Now coming to the Product features and performance review! ======= Build quality & Installation ======= - First thing you notice about this WiFi router is how aesthetic the router is built. I loved its design and size. - The body of this router has many holes which go through and through, which means this router will never heat up extensively. Remember this is important design aspect, since, most of the routers die due to overheating. - Setup is a walk in a park and took me hardly 5 mins to power ON and browse the internet on my WiFi device (This being my first WiFi router installation) - There is a big red sticker on the back of their router which alerts the user to run the pre-loaded software in the CD before making any connections. I do a lot of R&D myself without looking into a manual/ installation guide, but here I stuck to running the software that came along. Actually this is the best part of the installation because, you need to connect the wires as shown in the flash animation which runs along and next you select the country: India and voila, it has most of the ADSL networks already listed. So I select MTNL Triband which is an option in the list and click next and after 5 mins, I am on the internet - the wireless way! :) - Well setup was a breeze! (Can't help but repeat the statement again) ======== Pros ======== - It is a 300 Mbps connectivity WiFi router with dual antennae of 3 dbi each. The range covers almost full house + any corner combination! - The main feature of this WiFi router is the EWAN port, many of the WiFi router users might not even heard of this before, EWAN is the only reason I was desperate to buy this router. EWAN port makes it possible to use this WiFi router as a DSL router too. So, tomorrow if I switch to DSL Cable Internet, then I wont require to change the router and vice versa! - Never experienced a signal drop, it has been ON for more than 24 hrs at a stretch, still NO losses! - This router comes with one USB port which can be used for file sharing, printer sharing, etc. and now it can be even used for 3G datacard connectivity! - A true all-in-one router, for a price that is so irresistible. I was the first buyer, but I chose to review it after 10 days of usage, to give a better review. - In addition, it has a WiFi ON-OFF switch and a WPS switch to WiFi Protected Setup. WPS allows establishing of a secure wireless home network! ======= Cons ======= - I couldn't find any drawback on this one, since I am already impressed with its performance. But to add into this point, only the speed of the USB file sharing is not that great or left me unimpressed but it isn't that low too (Read @ 2.4 Mbps max, Write@1.5 Mbps) ======= Overall ======= 5/5: For the killer pricing and truly all-in-one WiFi router.
