Today, its operations span varied territories across Australia, New Zealand, South East Asia, China, Taiwan, India, Middle East, Africa, US, Russia, Canada and Latin America. In total, it maintains a strong market presence in over 35 countries.Strontiums in-depth understanding of the memory market, coupled with expert product knowledge, gives it a true competitive advantage over its industry peers.WHAT ARE DIFFERENT TYPE OF SD CARDS?xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxSD (Secure Digital) cards are a special brand of data storage that have two main purposes, to store data and to transfer data between devices. SD cards are popular in devices that are too small to have dedicated hard drive storage space, such as mobile phones, GPS units, digital cameras and many other electronic devices.SD cards come in three physical sizes: SD, miniSD and microSD. Normal SD cards are the largest, miniSD cards are smaller and finally, microSD cards are the smallest, being the approximate size of a fingernail. The physical size of the card doesn't affect the capacity and storage space of the SD card, with microSD cards being able to store up to 32GB or even 64GB of data. SD cards are larger than microSD cards.SD, SDHC, and SDXCApart from physical size, another consideration when choosing a SD card is the storage space of the card. SD cards have come a long way in terms of storage space, with cards that can store up to 64GB or larger being available.SD Cards***************SD cards were the first cards on the market, and can only store up to 2GB of data. It should be noted that microSD cards that have the same format can also store only 2GB of data, as physical size doesn't have an impact on the amount of storage space.SDHC Cards***************2GB is a tiny amount of data storage, which is why the developers and manufacturers of SD cards came up with an additional storage format known as SDHC, which stands for Secure Digital High Capacity. These cards can store between 4GB and 32GB, but can only be used in devices compatible with the SDHC format. The SDHC format is also reverse compatible, meaning that devices that can read SDHC cards can also read SD cards, but devices that can only read SD formats cannot use cards that have the SDHC format.SDXC Cards*****************SDXC (Secure Digital eXtended Capacity) cards are the latest SD cards available and their storage sizes range between 64GB and 2TB. There are very few devices at the moment that can use SDXC, but these will most likely increase in popularity as data needs of users increase even more.Knowing how much space is needed can be a tricky thing, as it's difficult to predict in advance how the device will be used and the type of data that will be stored as per the settings of resolution and media formats.WHAT IS A CLASS 10 AND UHS-1 RATING ?xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxSpeed Class- is a minimum speed based on a worst case scenario test. The Speed Class is important for video mode or camcorders, where the device is actually saving a steady stream of data. The resolution and format of the video determines the amount of steady stream data. This translates to a minimum speed you need to guarantee that the video captured on the cards is recorded at an even, sustained rate with no dropped frames (which would result in lost data and choppy playback). The current SDHC specification defines Class 2, 4, 6, 8 and 10 with min. speeds at 2,4,6,8 & 10 MB/s respectively.UHS Speed Class - was introduced in 2009 by the SD Association and is designed for SDHC and SDXC memory cards. UHS utilizes a new data bus that will not work in non-UHS host devices. If you use a UHS memory card in a non-UHS host, it will default to the standard data bus and use the "Speed Class" rating instead of the "UHS Speed Class" rating.UHS memory cards have a full higher potential of recording real time broadcasts, capturing large-size HD videos and extremely high quality professional HD.Abbreviation UHS-I refers to type of bus that connects SD card with camera/card reader. UHS-I bus is capable of transferring data with speed up to 104 MB/s, where previous generation can do it with speed up to 25 MB/s. UHS-II, which has extra contacts, can do up to 312 MB/s. However memory chips inside a card can’t provide data so fast, and also store data 3–10 times slower than read. There class marking comes to show how fast data can be written on card.Class 10 and UHS class 1 guarantee the same sustained write speed of 10 Mb/s. But UHS can usually provide faster read speed, that is marked on card separately. UHS class 3 guarantees sustained write speed of 30 Mb/s, but can also have class 10 sign, just because the older standard doesn’t define sign higher than class 10.Still digital images shot on high-megapixel cameras should utilize fast data throughput (a large data pipe), higher speed cards for improved performance. Higher speed cards can also improve how fast you can transfer the files to and from the card and your computer.ABOUT THE PRODUCT:xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxNITRO UHS-I microSDHC/XC Maximizes the UHS-I technology for outstanding NITRO performance, to offer an impressive minimum guaranteed read/write transfer speed consistent to Class 10 + UHS 1 ratings. It is a Superior mobile data solution for smartphones, tablets, GPS, and digital camcorders Rapidly acquires, plays back, and transfers media data, include extended durations of 1080p full-HD and 3D videos It is widely available from 16GB to 64GB capacities. It offers Superior mobile data solution for your Smartphones, Tablets, GPS, & Digital Camcorders Ultra High Speed Performance.Compliant - with the latest SD card Specification Standards Strontium claims it to be water proof, magnet proof, temperature proof and X-ray proof with an Operating Temperature from -13°F to 185°F (-25°C to 85°C)The Strontium 32 GB Nitro 466X Micro SDHC card claims to produce read speeds of 70 MB/s.Warranty offered: Lifetime Warranty for Card and One-Year Limited Warranty for Adaptor & USB Card ReaderLet’s discuss the pros and cons of the Strontium microSDHC card:PROS:****************1.Comes with a Class 10 & UHS 1 rating capable to produce sustained higher speeds for better stream rates.2. A Bright colourful chip which is quite a welcome change from the routine black & white chips.3. Mine came with an additional adaptor & USB card reader which was an extra benefit.4. Comes with a water proof, magnet proof, temperature proof and X-ray proof tag which claims secure your data in harshest of environments. A feature unique to high quality professional cards.5. Wide Operating Temperatures from -13°F to 185°F (-25°C to 85°C) to keep the data intact at high temperatures.6. The card produced decent read speeds in range of 55 to 85 MB/s depending on the variety of file samples transferred. Maximum read speeds were obtained on video file transfers. Write speeds though found a bit low yet sufficient at around 20 MB/s.7. Looks rugged & tamperproof. Requires little maintenance and seems long lasting.8. Comes with a Lifetime Warranty for Card and One-Year Limited Warranty for Adaptor & USB Card Reader.9. Decent pricing for feature rich, Byte to Byte memory with comparable transfer rates to other top brands.10. Responsive tech .support & customer care.CONS:****************1. Lower write speeds around 18 to 22 MB/s which is just okay & not for extreme enthusiasts taste.2. Might need to send the chip to Mumbai for warranty replacements due to lack of ample service centres but then it’s nothing a deal breaker. Most Hard disk companies like Seagate & WD also operate that way.FINAL VERDICT:xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxAll in all , an excellent all weather proof Feature-rich , durable product with decent Price to performance ratio. Not the fastest out there but still decent in my opinion. Enthusiasts may prefer to look out for Samsung Pro or Sandisk extreme cards. An alternative could be Samsung Evo with almost same read/write rates but then it’s not magnetic or X-ray proof. My assessment - Go for It..!!
