A pretty nice deal

By Rajat Mukherjeeon
Hi guys, I received my order of Simpex 333 today, So thought to share few details Pros. > The height is decent but won't reach eye level for a man with decent height(mine being 5.9") > All the joints are pretty sturdy and won't shake around > The legs have a good grip and won't slip on marble floor as well > Almost all the features a tripod need are there. > The frame holds up fine even when extended to full length. > Very light and comes with a pretty nice carry bag as well. > And last but not the least, The PRICE.(If you are into cameras or own a DSLR, it's very obvious that even basic stuffs like hoods, filters, remotes etc. cost far more.) Cons. > The support handles connecting the legs with the center are very very weak. > The leg joints are weak and feels that may break if not handled carefully. > The Pan head joints are not smooth at all so care must be taken when any heavy camera is mounted. > The upper formation shakes when the camera is clicked(It's a must with this tripod to have a remote for better results.) NOTE: If u have budget constraint of around 2000INR or so, my suggestion is get this tripod with a remote shutter release(Still being pretty much in budget), don't waste on other tripods priced a 2000INR or so as they all shake to some level when taking pics. SOURCE: Tested with DSLR mount and tested other tripods in the range of 2000INR or so.

Good initial tripod

I bought this a few weeks back and have started using it. A few comments on the same. Looks/Construction: The tripod looks pretty lean and could have been a bit more sturdier. The construction is okay, but I feel that the plastic locks on the legs need to be pushed strongly to lock and it feels as if the latch may break, if pressed hard. The bottom of the legs do not have any rubber grips, but only grooved plastic. It hasn't slipped so far, but feels like it may. Sensitivity: It "IS" sensitive to vibration with a DSLR mounted on it. Could see that the top assembly shakes when the shutter is pressed and the only way to avoid a shutter press vibrate is to use a remote shutter release or use a short/long self timer. The vibrations go for almost 2 seconds plus and it is better to have the long timer (10 seconds) set for auto shots to damp out the vibrations. Probably, one may need to sling this with some pebbles or stones in a bag to keep it steady. Adjustments: It can be adjusted for sweep (left to right/right to left, i.e. horizontal sweep), slant adjustment (left/right) with a built-in spirit level, forward/backward tilt (down/up), but it is either 0 degrees up to 90 degrees (horizontal to vertical up) or 0 degrees to -90 degrees (horizontal to vertical down). The camera has to be reversed for switching the positions. The tripod also has a height adjustment mechanism for the top portion so that the height of the camera assembly can be adjusted. The max height the tripod goes up to is around 4.5 feet. The camera clamp mechanism was a bit unintuitive when compared with my previous tripod, but once you got hold of it, there is no issue. There is a quick release for the camera with the clamp to latch out the camera fast from the tripod if need be. Overall, this tripod is sufficient enough for one who is buying a tripod for the first time. For someone who needs a sturdy tripod for semi-professional or professional work, this tripod does not make the grade. I would recommend it as just okay.

Simpex is Simple

You're getting more then you're paying. Simpex 333 has lot of features. Almost everything which any other tripod has. It doesn't matter if your a pro or beginner in photography. it suits both people. It's not the tripod which makes you a good photographer. Every tripod does the same thing. It's your skills which makes the difference. Flipkart delivery like always was good

Review based on personal use

I bought this as I'm a beginner and thought that I should not be spending too much on a costlier tripod. I would like to say that this is the cheapest one in terms of price and it seems cheap in terms of quality too. If you do not like sub-standard stuff do not buy this. If you cannot afford a tripod of more than a 1000 bucks, go for it as it does have all the feature you would find in a tripod twice its price. Everything works fine and its not that anything will break by using. In-fact it is fully functional tripod that works as a tripod should, just that the build quality is a compromise to me. I would like to mention that I went ahead and bought a new Sony tripod the next day after receiving this. But that was a completely personal decision as I could not accept the build quality, there will be others who will disagree and will consider its usability and price as the more important factors. I'm giving it 3 stars just because of the price.

Please read before you make a decision. Not a good buy!

Quite a lot of people have said that this is a good tripod if you are starting. I however, disagree. The tripod, without any doubt, gives you everything that you would expect in Rs 845. But the thing is that this tripod is only good if you are using a compact camera or those basic handycams. I own a Nikon SLR and now I feel that I've made a mistake by buying this tripod. 1) This isn't sturdy at all. Even the slightest contact with winds makes this tripod shaky. I am never confident after mounting my camera on this tripod when I am shooting outside. However the tripod would do fine if you are to shoot indoors for purposes like products, food, etc. 2) The levers aren't precise at all. Once you tighten all of them, they don't hold the camera in that very position. There is always a precision error, i.e. once you frame your shot and then tighten the screws accordingly; after you remove your hands from the camera, the camera will move down by about a couple of millimeters on its own. So if you've framed a shot in which you are keeping the sun at the extreme corner of your view-finder, chances are that the sun may get cut in the final shot! I would suggest that instead of buying this, save more and go for Vanguard. Even the cheap tripods from Vanguard (3-5 thousand ones) are much much better than this, I've tried them. I never feel scared after mounting my camera because you'll realise on the very first touch that they are very much stable. So the bottom-line is, if you have an SLR, save more and invest in a better product. Hope this would help.
