Sennheiser HD 380 pro

By Alisha Paison
Brilliant flat frequency headphones for recording, tracking and mixing. Best studio headphones in this price range. If you're looking for professional sound these are the ones for you. Versatile, with good bass, mids and treble response!

Happiness is when u have HD 380

By Ishuonlyon
Such a fantastic headphone it is. I am using 8/9 hours continuously. But it never hurts. Flat response...happy stuff for sound engineer....

GOOD HEADPHONE TO BUY

By GOLUon
Its lightweight. Comes with a flat case, not a hard case though, but will suffice. You have to store it after making the earcups flat. I have not found any negatives worth mentioning as I have jsut begun using it. I was using a sennheiser HD280 pro till now and still have it. Ear fitting is probably bit more looser than that of 280 pro, which is a more heavy too. Isolation is probably lesser .. but it is still a good piece of purchase. I had already asked my friend who was using it for 3 yrs without complaint. Low end is also slightly better than that of 280 pro. Good purchase for the money. Easy maintenance than that of AKGs. Pros: Comfortable earfit for long time usage. Shows up much of the noise in the audio with limited colouration Comes with a storage case. Cons: Not much of it that I can say now.

Have just started using it, seems good.

Audiophile grade headphones at a reasonable price tag

By Sandeep S Son
I’ve been listening to different kinds of audio equipments across different price categories and love my music to sound as identical to the original recording as possible. I had previously used Audio Technica ATH M-50, which I personally like very much & which are very well reviewed by the audiophile community and casual listeners as well and recently came across Sennheiser HD 380 Pro amongst few friends who have found it to fare better compared to ATH M-50, so I decided to check it out and my review covers this comparison as well at the end. Intended customer: Sennheiser HD 380 pro is meant for music listeners who like natural sounding audio as compared to the enhanced low end and high end that most of the mainstream audio headphones from Bose/Sony/Beats etc. Both are neutral sounding with ATH M50 having a little enhanced low bass. Build: HD 380 pro is built well for its price range. It’s made of plastic, but held together by a strong metal band. Ear cups are made of soft material, not leather, but of good quality. It comes with a ¼ inch adapter screwed into for use with Audio equipment and 3.5mm Jack for portable music players, both terminals are gold plated. It sure looks like it’s built to last for a very long time! Comfort: HD 380 pro are extremely light weight due to the plastic build & has large ear pads which will cover listeners ear lobes [over the ear] completely. This leads to superb comfort for extended listening, even several hours together. This can be a con, since it is not advisable to use headphones for such a long period continuously from hearing health point of view, though :) Portability: These headphones are intended for use with Hifi audio equipment/Portable amplifiers/studio use. But for casual listening these can be used on the go as well, since they come with a nice carry case and the headphones fit in well in it for travel purpose. Noise isolation: Sennheiser advertises 32dB of passive noise attenuation. I personally found the noise isolation to be really good which makes us listen at lower volume levels, which also is good. Since these are close back headphones, sound leakage to outside is negligibly less, so can be used even in a library without disturbing nearby person :) Audio quality: This is the most important part and I tried the headphones with a wide range of music genres and with different source/amplification. In short, the HD 380 pro has come out with flying colors ! With out amplification: Most users would like to know how loud these can go without a dedicated headphone amplifier. These headphones are rated at 54Ohm nominal impedance with SPL of 110dB at 1mW input, which is very sensitive and should run well with most portable audio players, mobile phones, ipods etc. I tried a varied collection of MP3 at 320kbps & FLAC on Android phone [HTC 816 & Nexus 5] via Poweramp app & iPod Classic. It runs very loud and using the Poweramp equalizers and tone controls, users can change the sound signature to their taste. I found the low end bass to be bit enhanced and muddy at times, but that is what happens if we drive such headphones from the inbuilt amplifier found on these portable devices. For casual listening they are extremely good and give a clear and detailed presentation of the tracks. Sound stage and imaging are precise and impressive for a close back headphone. Perfect for listening to music while travelling. With Amplification: This is where I was totally in for a pleasant surprise! I was previously using Marantz CD player [CD6004] as source with Marantz Integrated amplifier [PM6004] driving KEF speakers. PM 6004 has a dedicated headphone amplifier output which I used for my HD 380 pro. Results were nothing short of amazing. I found more details in the tracks that I ever heard on any setup earlier. Entire frequency range is well balanced, accurate and puts me in the centre of the piece I’m listening to. I would advise buyers to invest in a good DAC and Amplifier [like FiiO E17] to get best out of these. At the price point, they are much better than ATH M50 and more balanced presentation. I found these headphones to fare better than the KEF speakers [which cost 6-7 times more!] in sound stage and presentation. This has been a pretty lengthy write up! but the product deserves it! Pro’s : Very comfortable for extended use Well balanced & detailed presentation Good sensitivity for use with portable devices directly Good noise isolation Excellent build quality 2 year India warranty Con’s: More expensive compared to ATH M50, bit pricey Length and weight of cable can hinder if used for portable application while travelling

I use these for producing music,so read my review :)

By Avidosh Pandeon
Considering that I produce electronic music,I required a good pair of headphones, and as I am living in a hostel, buying studio monitors would be too much of a hassle. I'd like to really thank these headphones for the accurate response and good bass response. It has helped getting my mixdowns to a better level ! Also as an alternate option I would consider the Audio Technica ATH M50,will buy them too once I get some money ! Do not buy these if you just have 10k lying around and expect tracks to sound good, instead id suggest you go for JBL/Sony/Bose those are consumer headphones which have certain frequencies enhanced ,mostly the mids to enrich the vocals and leads, also a bit of top end for the snares, synths,hi hats. these are relatively flat freq response meant for mixing tracks.

Best Closed Back Headphone in this price

By Tapas Khandaon
Stunning clarity.. The highs are precise and crisp. Lows give the music its perfect balance and dynamic range. This is a closed back design,So is preferable while traveling. The comfort of the earpads are just amazing. You can barely notice the pressure it puts on your head.

Sennheiser HD 380 Pro

By Dileep Vangasserion
I researched a lot before buying the HD 380 Pro. I had almost finalized on HD 449 based on the net reviews and the specifications. The primary purpose was to use the head set for my mobile and the home theater system. Before buying the headset, I visited the Seinheisser showroom and got a demo of all the headsets. I immediately changed my decision, increased my budget and got the HD 380 Pro. I absolutely love the headset. The HD 280 pro is a well reviewed headset in internet. HD 380 pro is one notch above the same. It being a monitor head phone, delivers the sound as it is. The range is pretty good. There is no over enhancing of bass or treble. That's what I really wanted. The added advantage is the nice case with which it comes. The headset can be neatly arranged inside the case and I carry it everyday to my office. The clamping force of the headset is a bit on the higher side. But within no time, one will get used to it. It further helps in passive noise reduction. Overall, I am pretty happy with the headset.

On the higher side, but worth it

By Sanjay Mehtaon
1. Excellent all round: bass, midrange and higher frequencies 2. If you can, try them out first with CDs rather than MP3s to really hear them. 3. The carry case is a nice touch and even though these headphones are pretty large, they fold down flat to something you can easily carry in a laptop bag. Not sure why Flipkart doesn't carry them any more. I ordered mine direct from Sennheiser India.

Diamond for the discerning audience!

By Vinay Loharon
The HD380 is a diamond for the discerning audience. These are typical sound monitoring headphones which do the job perfectly. As far as pleasure listening goes, these do sound great with certain genre of music such as Progressive Trance, Acid Trance, Prychedelic, Technical Black Metal, Industrial Metal, Mathcore, Progressive Metal and Speed Metal. They also sound great with certain artists in New Age, Fusion and Instrumental. You need high quality music to enjoy these headphones - FLAC or MP3s at 320 Kbps at least.Sound Test:1) "Sonnenuntergang" - SchillerThis is an amazing track by the German duo of Christopher von Deylen and Mirko von Schlieffen (Schiller). This song has lows that you would fail to notice in many headphones including some really good ones out there. The HD380 captures each and every minute detail of every instrument played. The highs and lows are well balanced.2) "Forever In Love" - Kenny GThis song is by far Kenny G's most popular and recognizable instrumental recordings. It sounds amazing on these headphones. Not a single note is missed while listening and you hear sounds that you've never heard before.3) "6:00" - Dream TheaterOutstanding! You would love to hear artists like DT, Rush, U2, Peter Gabriel, Prem Joshua and Bruce Springsteen. They sound so good on this headphone that even the HD800 fails to give these details with some reservations. The Sennheiser HD380 Pro are top class neutral sounding headphones. Having said this, you need to get some HD audio files and choose your music carefully if you plan to use them for personal/relaxation use. They are 60% better than the HD280 Pro and in fact beat almost all the competition in the market with certain music genre that I have mentioned before. Many songs wont sound as sweet as they might sound on the HD439 or the HD598. But then you know that when you buy a Rolls Royce, its not the 320 Kmph speed that you are looking for. I wish the build quality which is good was much, much better. At least the Germans must understand this! People know them for the better quality and if they compromise, they lose their identity and many questions do arise.Score:Sound - 10/10Comfort - 10/10Ambient Noise Cancellation - 9/10Output Sound Leakage / Isolation - 8/10Build Quality 7/10

Excellent Collapsable Headphones and Amazing Bass

By Sheldon Dsouzaon
Excellent Headphones from Sennheiser. I'm using my LG V20 which has a HIFI QUAD DAC and makes good use of these headphones.Really like the Bass on these. Also the Headphones have great sound isolation and cuts the background noise to a great extent.Portable/Folding Pair of Professional Headphones. Also comes with the Carrying Case.Thank You Amazon and the seller for excellent product and prompt delivery service.

Amazing Closed Back Headphones

By Saurabhon
I use Presonus Eris E5 monitors for my usual mixing and bought these for school. I am more than impressed by how accurate these sound for the price I'm paying. I got these on a discount for around 7k INR and I think they're worth every penny. The build quality is fantastic, they do not need an amp, the frequency response is amazing and they sound pretty flat. If you're buying them for casual listening, I don't think you should spend all this money for these since they wouldn't give you the bass boosted sound that consumer headphones usually have. These would be a great pair of cans for mixing on the road or as a backup pair in my studio.

My audio collection came to life....

By Jayanth Chintapallion
Outstanding product. Very flat frequency response. No coloring of any particular frequencies. If you need bass boost or scooped mids, just use an equalizer, they are very sensitive to equalizers.Warning : 128 kbps doesn't really justify their awesomeness.... I would recommend FLAC or at-least 320kbps mp3'sIf you use really low quality audio (like old desi movies on youtube), they are completely unforgiving. The thing that really amazed me was the sound stage... these headphones sit around your ear; as a result the "speakers" are at a distance from your ears. I guess this is why the stereo imaging is out of this world.Very comfortable bag for portablility... But i don't think these are leaving my desk for a long long time....Cons ... not very portable. I think the cable weighs more than the headphones. But if you are looking at this product, i guess it shouldn;t matter alreadyPreferably use it through a headphone amp - I use Fiio E6 - It significantly improved the audio quality when using mobile phone. Less difference noticed when using pc audio out or sound cardGot this on amazon for 8.4k .... Very good price

Mind blowing

By Aravind Uon
I'm not an audiophile, and thus am giving a typical listener's viewpoint. The noise isolation it gives is mind-blowing.Sound clarity is top notch, bass is accurate and clear and do not overshadow mids or lows.Heavy clamping force may feel uncomfortable, but is fine once you are used to it. Ear pad material is good that it doesn't give any discomfort even with the clamping force. No issues of heating or sweating when used for long time. The pads are large enough not to touch your ear.Foldable pads, and the carry case makes it a good choice for people on the go.Couldn't find any cons, all audiophile forums rate it as a value for money model.
