Horrible Grainy Pictures
By Madhujit Sinhaon
Pros: Loads of features like email, upload to facebook, remote control using android app etc. Looks great too.
Cons: Does everything except take good pictures. Here's what I mean:
1. The pictures are 96 pixels per inch. I didn't see that when I placed the order. A 5 MP camera which shoots at 300 pixels per inch gives way better photographs.
2. The auto mode focuses on all the wrong spots. And chooses the wrong mode invariably.
3. Zoom produces picture quality the same as we used to see in newspapers 20 years back. Horribly grainy with the subject almost indiscernabale.
4. I tried every setting to produce pictures comparable to my Nikon Coolpix S8100 which is 12.1 MP. Even my phone takes significantly better photos.
This is a piece of crap. I just lost 11k. Don't make the same mistake.
It was a bit of a gamble to buy a samsung camera over a canon or a nikon, but im really impressed by this camera. It has got so many features that makes it very interesting and i got bit by photography bug because of this camera. Some of its features eg. automatic exposure bracketing (AEB) is present in nikon D5100 but not in D3100 or D3200. AEB is required for a great HDR (high dynamic range) photos. Although doing it manually will give better result than automatic, this phone has got excellent manual mode, aperture priority and shutter priority as well.
And of course the wifi remote viewfinder. Very useful when going out with friends and everyone has to be in the frame. Its like a remote control for your TV. Throw away your TV remote and you'll start to understand how much you miss a remote viewfinder on your camera. This feature works flawlessly with my Samsung Galaxy smartphone.
The photo quality is as good as any other Point n Shoot camera, obviously not as good as entry level DSLR buy way more pocketable than any DSLR. And boy this phone looks good, its looks handsome.
Huge zoom and 16sec exposure is a big plus too. One thing that makes me happiest is that I shoot better photos than a friend of mine with a Nikon D3200 DSLR though i'm not sure how much of that is down to skill.
I want to talk about FLIPKART delivery and provide useful information for those who read this review. "However, the review section on the product page is for product related reviews (positive & negative) which would be helpful to future customers to make their decision to buy the product or not." Therefore my review would be removed if i talk about product UNrelated reviews. So I'll not talk about delivery.
