Galaxy tab: big on promises, little on delivering them
By Rohanon
Let me start by admitting, i am neither an apple fan boy, nor an android pro user. My policy for rating and reviewing products, is strictly on the basis of using them in context of what that device is supposed to do. I hate having to setup the device, and spend hours over configuring it, trying to figure out how the hell to do certain tasks and so on. FOr me, i should be using the device, the device should not be using me. Ease of use and intuitive UI and design are the top things i look for in any gadget.
Having said that, just on this 2 counts the galaxy tab is a massive failure. It is not without its pros, but the cons outweight the pros by miles.
The galaxy tab is light. Surprisingly light. My first impressions of the tab were that it would be very very easy to hold and use with one hand given its size. alas this was not to be. The keyboard on the O.S itself, is a huge mess. It will require you to either keep the tab on ur lap, or ur table to use it effectively. But then again, no one is going to use it to send out emails all the time, so this is not something which is going to bother users who are using it for media consumption.
This brings me to my greatest grouse. Samsung is lagging miles behind the competition when it comes to the display. Given the cost, i thought the display might have been a lot lot better. The superamoled screens on certain samsung devices are at par with that of the iphone, with the samsung wave screen even surpassing ip 4. The galaxy tab fails to live upto this expectation.
The battery life is also somewhat iffy, with my tab draining out within 7 hours. (one complete movie with headphones 2 hours, 2 hours of browsing on wi fi, and 3 hours of gaming)
The user interface is pleasant, and a change from the usual drab world of the IOS.
I keep on bringing up comparisons to the IOS, because face it, its the only other competition out there to beat.
The camera is a very pleasant surprise and beats the ipad without any doubt. It is surprising, because samsung supplies the same cmos sensors to apple for its range of devices.
This brings me to my biggest grouse: ease of use,and intuitive design. Many people fail to understand why apple is at the top of the computing world right now. No one and imean no one can design software like them. I thought honeycomb might come out tops and give apple a run for their money, because hey, u need competition to keep things good. Wishful thinking on my part. The ease of use on this device is non existant. i had a horrid time trying to set up my home wifi and workgroup settings, to connect the tablet to my home pc. I scoured the internet and found stuff which would require a phd in computer science to execute and do. I simply want my things to work out of the box, which the galaxy tab lacks.
Overall, if you are a casual user, who wants to just flick through photos, drag and drop mp3s and watch a few movies, check ur emails once in a while and read an ebook, this tablet is for you. If you want to do slightly more, like wi fi streaming, wifi workgrouping and so on skip tihs tablet.
Overall, i would say the ipad 2 still does not have any competition. the biggest problem with the ipad which galaxy tab dosent have, usb ports. Even without this usb port, the ipad 2 remains the best tablet out there, simply because u will be hard placed to find a more easy to use and intuitive os to use than ios 4. The galaxy tab is the second best thing out there. Its a lot better than the motorola xoom. at the very least it has a much better battery life than the xoom
to buy or not to buy!

SGT750 looks good, sleek and clean.
memory 16 GB is a minus.
Price is expensive.
samsung new netbook at RS.14,002 (flipkart price) seems a safe option.
Tablets can cause more strain on the eyes than a netbook/laptop yet if we need a tablet, we need to wait for some more time.
ponder on Lenovo Thinkpad tablet too.
also check acer's tab which uses microsoft OS.
ipad 3 must come soon.
postpone buying a tab till you get all the facilities of a netbook or buy a net book at a lesser cost.
A SuperTablet with few little cons
By Arun Vasireddyon
1.it's an awesome tablet with a great brilliant screen...best of the tablet pack
2.Awesome powerpacked machine thanks to nvidia tegra 2
3.Touchwhiz UI gives the best honeycomb experience.
4.the slim form factor & good battery life are the other notable features.
cons:
-Beautiful yet weak plastic body....prone to sctatches.so need to invest on a good case.
-Good performing camera but its only a 3 MP.
-no sd slot(bad samsung...BAD!)
Waiting for offer
By Flipkart Customeron
Today flipcart added car charger which is of no use to me, i am waiting for the day when they will be giving book case free. that day i will and if u can wait, then do it because prices are gonna to fall. and for those who are confuse i wanna to say that i did a full week research on all tablets available in the world i will strongly recommend it and will rank it no.1, though ipad2 is not at rank 2 because the biggest differnce between 2 is ipad2 is just a big iphone but its a complete tablet.
