Pretty good lens, but benefits over F1.8D and G are minimal. Get the 50mm F1.8G
By Bharat Justaon
So I use it on my D5100 and AF doesn't work, I knew that, but when the lens is wide open, it gives a lot of blue and green fringes around high contrast white areas. That is not the case with D5300 though, dunno why. But that's nothing that I can't fix in post. The lens is very sharp, a bit sharper than 35mm f1.8G DX when that's wide open. I went to DXOMark to verify that and that is actually the case. The 50mm f1.4G is not as sharp as this though. The sharpest one is 50mm f1.8G and the 50mm f1.4D is just as sharp as that.As this is an old lens, it does not have an inbuilt focusing motor. So the AF won't work on D3xxx, D5xxx series. So 50mm f1.4 G is what you should go after if you need AF, but that's INR 10k more expensive. I take my photos nice and slow, one at a time, so having no AF is not a big issue for me.However, this lens does not work with Nikon D3400 in any mode other than manual. So if you aren't good with manual controls, don't get this lens. If you have this lens, but want a new cheap camera, skip the D3400 and get D3300 instead. I personally use Aperture Priority mode as the rangefinder is only available in aperture priority mode and that makes focusing a bit more difficult in all the other modes. If you just need a fast and sharp lens for cheap, it's a f1.4, however f2.2 and f2.8 work best at night, go for this one.I love it.But personally, after testing this, I'd recommend the 50mm F1.8G. There's not much difference in bokeh and not a lot of advantage to shutter speed in low light, also, no AF in the 50mm f1.4D.If you are on a very tight budget, get the 50mm F1.8D, if not then F1.8G. Skip the F1.4 lenses and straight away get the F1.2 if you really want that low DoF, but that's not very sharp. Conclusion: Get the 50mm F1.8G if you want a 50mm prime.

Excellent product.
Don't fool the customers by showing incorrect MRP
By Flipkart Customeron
Guys, stop fooling the customers by showing incorrect MRP. On company's webstie the MRP is shown as Rs.27,990/- as on 28-Jun-2015. So, you are only giving a discount of 4% and NOT 24%. I'm pretty sure any of us can get a higher discount by walking into any of the shops.

Don't break your customers' trust.
'This comment and rating is solely for Flipkart and not for the product because I have come across many such incidents where the MRP shown is inflated so to show higher discount.
I want to go for 0 star but there is no such option.
One of the great lenses from Nikon
By Ankur Shrivastavaon
If you are a portrait enthusiast, you will find it hard to remove this from your camera body. the aperture size itself will enable you to take natural picture which are beyond the capacity of other lenses. fast lenses like this also enable you with handheld photography where you might be habitual of tripod with soon lenses. overall great add of to the kit.
Just wow!

auto focus is fast, images are as desired, portraits are stunning...the extra bucks for f/1.4 aperture is all the worth
