After having read up a lot on the playbook, I decided to take the plunge and pick it up during the offer period. First bit of advice to anyone considering the Playbook, please do your own research, based on your requirements. The Playbook is a brilliant device as an overall package. The biggest drawback is the lack of apps and the fact that the future of the device is uncertain. Having said that, OS 2.0 (Which has been reported to be made available in February) will support most Android apps. This should completely take care of the apps 'situation'. If you do not have a Blackberry phone, you are limited by its utility. But with the Bridge it is an absolute joy to use! The size is just perfect! The software is very responsive and the Multi-tasking is a God-send! Games run without lag and overall, the one week that I've had it, It never has hung. Accelerometer is sensitive and picks up even the slightest movements. Not sure if anyone has mentioned that it can be mounted as a network drive - This meas that as long as the Playbook is on the same wifi network, it can be accessed by any other PC/Mac on that network for file transfer purposes. It is also said to support printing to network printers (I haven't checked this out). Another big selling point is the inbuilt GPS, (The ipad doesn't have one!) Works perfectly with Bing Maps!!! It is a fingerprint magnet though, but the cleaning cloth provided with the unit takes care of that. Another major negative is that there is no Skype app. There is a workaround though, but video calls are not supported with this option. Overall, I am extremely happy with my purchase and would recommend that you check it out - based on your requirements.

I'm a gadget guy and I'm a Apple fanboy from the days of iPod classic and have owned many apple products but just thought of trying something new (motivated by my positive experience with Windows 7 phones). Price: 14k or less is absolutely great price for a product of such build quality. Camera: Works as expected from a 5mp (and 3mp) camera but remember there is no flash. Speakers: Very good for a tablet, loud enough. Touchscreen: Excellent resolution, at par with apple stuff. Great for pictures and videos. Pretty good touch sensitivity, though not at par with apple stuff but its pretty good. If apple is 10/10, this would be 8/10. OS: Great multitasking capabilities but I'm afraid thats the only pros about the OS, rest of the story is kind of disappointing but its just the software and if rumors to be believed the next OS upgrade coming in Feb 2012. AppStore: There isn't really anything to talk about. Final Verdict: As of today, its a great multimedia device with a unbeatable price tag. But for the business and enterprise class users, will have to wait and see what the next OS upgrade has to offer. Meanwhile, I'm writing this review logged in on my PlayBook. :)

It's probably the best productivity tool out there, in tablets that is. UI is superb. Hardware top notch. There is no perfect tablet out there, so depends on whether this fits your needs, but i must highlight that this product is extremely well made. Big problem with PB has been choice of apps, which has started to change over the past many weeks. Also, with the 2.0 OS expected in Feb 2012, it'll be compatible with Android app world, which should address the problem. Having said this, it already offers a lot of relevant apps. Gaming experience is excellent. I've played games on ipad, and samsung tab. PB is miles ahead on gaming experience. One needs to check out the list of games available on the app world....it's impressive. I think PB was not appropriately positioned by RIM. They should have targeted the existing BB users first as there was a strong association with the product already. Another issue is bad press. Due to poor off-take of this product globally, PB has become a favourite whipping boy, but as a user for 6 months, I am glad i bought this product. I'm not into a lot of gaming (my son is hooked!), but experience of integrating mails, calendars, notes, browsing (all via tethering) is very good. It's browser is superp too. QNX (now called BBX) OS is a pleasant surprise. I think it's miles ahead of competition, the power of which (hopefully) will be seen next year with the major OS upgrade (expected in Feb, fingers crossed). Lastly, camera is high quality. I've stopped using my standalone camera completely. It has a capability to record in HD and the results are excellent again. And oh, PB supports flash (i know Adobe has announced discontinuation of flash, but dont forget how proliferated flash usage is on the web). Watching videos, movies, etc. is a joy. HDMI connectivity also lets you mirror on TV which means PB becomes your controller for a game, or a remote for movie. Due to its wifi capabilities you can stream movies directly to a connected TV. I know i may be sounding a bit biased (as an owner already), but the idea is to provide as honest review / opinion as possible. Hope it helps!

my friend got a ipad2 two months and i 've been using playbook for 4 months now here are the differences:- 1)price Apple:pay more get less playb:pay less get more AT 14k for 16gb version it's a loot 2)hardware: both are comparable in physical experience as such but play book has a better processor and camera 3)software & UI: playbook is both multitasking and flash enabled therfore you will get a better browsing experience in playbook whick is not the case with ipad2. if you are "Appoholic" then go for ipad although os 2.0 supports android apps and the blackberry may consider making it's os opensource so there is a possibility of a better app market is there in future Excellent keyboard gesture in playbook and a very awesome spread sheet application good for the business class but it's biased to blackberry smartphone users with blackberry bridge as there are quiet a bit feature that they could have shared with a lot of other smartphone vendor's 4)the UI of both apple and blackberry targets different domains of public so it's quiet customer specific.. 5)battery is better in apple as compared to playbook

I have been using a 64GB Playbook with the new OS 2.0. Can tell one thing for sure, that gradually you will start loving this tablet more and more every passing day. A few reasons which make it an absolute buy is its amazing speed, display, its access to android market (with OS 2.0 Update), native email client, integration with all social apps, battery backup and the build quality. BB has got it perfect with this masterpiece. Though many might draw comparisons with Ipad and other Android devices, Ipad currently is twice the price of playbook 64 GB and Android OS is well known for its apps, which are now available through BB App world after the new OS Update. If you are a BB smartphone user, then you can also use your phone as a remote controller to control the playbook, without having to use the touch screen. All smartphone applications like BB messenger, messages and contacts are also available over the BB Bridge for your convenience. And more than anything else, BB is known for its security worldwide. With more and more additions and upgrades coming in, it can any day be considered as the best buy in this price range.
