Super little laptop for the price. Fast enough for browsing/routine work.
By Aamiron
The laptop isn't high-end or super-fast, but it makes up for it in features for a low price. The good points :1) N3710 quad core. Multitasking, switching between apps, general browsing/surfing is very fast, and there are no noticeable slowdowns. This low wattage processor is very efficient and for low end/office usage, it's well worth it.2) Touch screen with gorilla glass . The touch is very responsive, you get a licensed version of Windows 10, which is great when you switch to tablet mode. The touch is accurate, it is rare that the touchscreen does not function as expected.3) The build quality . Very sturdy looking laptop with no creaks or squeaks/flex. The outside is a matt texture that offers a good grip when trying to hold onto the laptop.4) Full set of ports : Has 1 USB 2, 1 USB 3, 1 HDMI, 1 Gigabit Network port and 1 mixed audio i/o jack, and an SD card reader in the back. No skimping unlike some larger brands. Would have been nicer to have a couple more USB ports, but a hub can work if needed.5) Can play basic 3D games and such, but is not a gaming computer.6) Excellent WiFi/network connectivity7) Windows 10 is very stable on this machine, and no crashes or slowdowns even under heavy workloads. The live tiles are really nice, and work well with touch.8) Excellent touch-pad : The touch pad is very nice, immediately recognizing gestures/taps that Windows uses.9) Very clear webcam10) Slightly mushy full-size keyboard with chiclet style keys. One can type without cramped fingers. The Cons :1) Terrible TN screen with bad viewing angles. This can either be a positive (so no one else can view your screen while you're travelling), or a really bad thing depending on what your outlook is. Not too bad looking straight on, but any slight angle, and the screen is not properly viewable.2) 4 GB RAM : Can't really blame Acer for this, even more expensive laptops come with 4 gigs these days. It's just that Windows 10 seems a bit more happier with 8 GB. It is expandable, but some skills with a screwdriver are required.3) Slow 500GB hard disk : This laptop has a budget 500GB 5400RPM WD blue hard disk. There are plenty of examples on Youtube where people have used SSD's instead and the performance increase is very visible and makes the laptop very snappy. The HDD is not too slow in it's current form, but for multitasking/ speedier RW to the disk, an SSD would be a better add-on.4) Only 2 status LEDs. I wish manufacturers didn't skimp on LEDS for the Caps lock, HDD and WIFI (not too important). The LED's are also placed in an odd manner on the right side of the laptop.5) Heats up under heavy workloads at times due to a fanless design. While the heat is not too bad, it's definitely noticeable, given our weather conditions. If you overlook the minor cons (depending on your requirement), it's a very good touch-screen laptop for what it offers. Note that this has to tick off your requirements (Touch screen, smaller form factor - 11.6" screen size, lightweight laptop for viewing movies/browsing/email/work/reading while travelling, longer battery life). There are faster laptops available, and if a larger form factor is required, there are plenty of options with a Pentium quad core as well as the Core i3 at a budget. If you're looking for a gaming laptop, this isn't it. If you're looking for something that can be used in a workplace/business environment, this will work. If you're looking for an extra computer that supplements your main device, this is outstanding. If you're looking for a replacement to an ancient laptop, this *might work, but maybe you'd want to go in for a larger screen.I see a lot of people complaining, but they are those who haven't really done their research about what this machine is, and what it isn't. This is NOT an i5 or i7 based Ultrabook, and it's not priced that way either.
Great little thing , well not that little
By Shail016on
I recently got it in Amazon sale , for 6K discount. And I will say its an awesome buy. I use it as my secondary laptop (the other one being a gaming MSI Apache pro GE 62). Its great because :1. Idle form factor, 11.6 not too small not big, acceptable weight and size for carrying around.2. Awesome sound for the kind of little thing it is.3. Decent battery 5-7 hrs with WIFI/multimedia usage and charging.4 Decent multi tasking : with 4Gb DDR3 and N3710 which is optimized for efficiency it still works flawlessly .- MS office No issues- World of tanks blitz works awesome, so do other store games. (Tablet versions)- Even for 4K vedios, it doesn't let you know its struggling.5. Key board & touch pad: you don't miss a full size keyboard6. Touch: quite responsive and accurate.7. Legitimate 64 bit windows homeAverage :1.Screen : may be I am pin pointing too much , but it's not a full HD screen and viewing angles are nothing to write about. Still does its work. Very good in indoors, no issues. And just average at outdoors.BAD:1. Acers bundled software's, kindly remove all of them and you will be surprised by boot time and responsiveness2. Norton Antivirus : yuck AV and just resource guzzler, if you don't want to spend on Kespersky, I will recommend AVG Avast or Avira which are free and great AVs with low performance overhead.3. Only Blue color option.Misc:If you further want to optimize performance you may also go for hardware upgrade, Ram up to 8Gb is supported, I suppose there is only single slot, so your 4G older one needs to be replaced with single 8G one.You may also replace the slower 5400 rpm HD with SSD and install OS of your choice on it.Else if you want a travelling companion and light worker, Docs, movies, tablet games etc stock config is great , just remove the bundled bloatware.--ThanksShail016
Great buy at this price

Great buy at this price. It's best suited for normal home and office usage. But it may tend to get slow if you try heavy gaming softwares or engineering softwares. Browsing speed is good. Connectivity over WiFi as well as Bluetooth is fine. The beat feature is that you can fold it 360degrees. Touchscreen works perfectly. Windows 10preloaded. Speakers sounds is good. Can't expect more at this price.
Failure product model.

Windows running lots and lots of servises in the background kills the system performance. Hope it would be better if it is sold with some lightweight OS which doesn't require much of its internet resources. Security updates running parallel with data hungry and automatic running n he background without the provision for manual setting are actually the prime reason for the fall of Windows.Nice Hardware with unmatching OS not going hand in hand resulted in the product got failed miserably.
Waste of money

Slow as a dog! I wonder why hardware manufacturers load their product with Windows 10 on minimally specified machines? Don't they care that users will be frustrated. Use a MS OS that work with your hardware and not the latest version if you are machine cannot handle it. Waste of money!
Perfect product!
