Three Stars

Sound is really bad.

Very good laptop, if you know what you're buying.

By ASon
I've been using this model for about a year now and am quite satisfied with the choice. I'm a student of electronics and often have to work with simulation and 3D modelling software for automation processes and this laptop meets my needs very well.Pros:+> Design and material: This is one of the most premium looking laptop I have seen, and believe me I have seen many. It has a very nice brushed aluminium finish on top and matte plastic all over. Despite the plastic shell, it looks and feels very premium and sturdy. This also comes in a red cherry colour (the one I have) which looks way cooler than the white version. This is probably the best looking laptop you will ever come across at this price range.+> Back lit keyboard (the one I purchased had a backlit keyboard, but this amazon page does not mention anything): I live in an area where power cuts are frequent, so the back lit keyboard serves me quite well.+> 14" Screen size: I have to travel often so the 14" screen size serves me well. It's more of a personal preference than a pro, but I thought I should mention it anyway.+> Windows 8.1: Comes with original windows 8.1. I know it's not a very popular choice of OS, but do some research on this software called 'start8' and you will have no reasons to worry. Moreover, you get a free upgrade to Windows 10 when it launches.+> 2GB graphics: While AMD is not always a first choice of gamers, it serves quite well for your daily needs. Let's just say the 5447 will run most normal games at low to mid settings without any loss in frames.+> Card reader: offers an in built card reader, provided you get the right adapter for it.+> USB 3.0: offers 2 USB 3.0 ports. You will not know the difference in speed these ports offer till you get the right peripheral though. But ones you do, you will never want to go back to 2.0 again. For the record, these ports are USB 2.0 compatible.+> Battery life: Its close to a year and I still squeeze out about 5-6 hours of battery life and that includes a mix of typing, music playing, working and surfing the web.Cons:+> Screen: The screen that is offered is only a HD and not a FHD. Lenovo offers FHD screens in this price range. It also has very poor viewing angles and it comes with a glossy screen (You can always use a matte screen guard, though. Provided you find one).+> Speakers: The speakers are not that great. You will have to tinker with the equalizer settings for a while before you get to hear decent sound from it. But still not a great pair.+> No CD Reader/Writer: This might be a deal breaker for some people.+> No VGA port: I doubt you will need it unless your projector does not support HDMI (which is becoming a standard now).Notes:+> Heating: Personally I've never actually experienced heating issues until I play games on it (which is normal for EVERY mid range system). It has a ventilation system near the function keys and that area tends to get very hot. Also, since the HDD is located directly below the right side of the mouse pad, that area tends to get hot too. But these happen only when I run intensive tasks. In your everyday tasks I doubt anyone will experience 'more than normal' heating.+> WiFi issues: I saw some people complain about issues with the WiFi range. It could be a problem with their particular model or some problems with the drivers. Personally, I have never experienced any issues. My router is located on the 3rd floor and I often work on the 2nd floor without any loss in connectivity.+> Processor: Do not buy just because this sports an i5 processor. The i5 on this is clocked at 1.7GHz. Now while the low clock preserves battery life, it can lead to a drastic deterioration in speed if you tend to use SEVERAL very resource hungry software at ones (one or two is fine). If that is the case, do not buy this laptop.+> 8.1 Single language: This laptop comes with a windows 8.1 Single language edition, meaning it does not feature ALL the bells and whistles of the 8.1 pro. For details on what is the difference between the two, I suggest you check out Microsoft's website.TL;DR version:Pros:+> Premium and sturdy design+> Backlit keyboard+> 14" Screen size+> Original Windows 8.1+> 2GB graphics+> Card reader+> 2 USB 3.0 ports+> Battery lifeCons:+> Screen+> Speakers+> No CD Reader/Writer+> Missing VGA port

Nice brushed aluminium finish

By Pavitra Kumar Kunderon
Nice brushed aluminium finish, good looking slim laptop, but, you do not get ips full hd like the lenovo flex 2, also, there are reports of poor wifi reception and trackpad issues..

A very satisfiable and amazing experience worth my wait!!!

Kudos to Flipkart and DELL for delivering this absolute more than decent & mean machine. Delivery by Flipkart deserves a worth with great packaging. I received it through C.O.D. method. I purchased this Ultrabook/Laptop during Diwali Offers(DELL Diwali DELLSE offer),got many goodies. Pros:--> a). I wanted a 14" screen based laptop, for its compactness. It delivered. b). PPI(pixel per inch)is about 12 values/marks more than the PPI of a 15" screen, which makes some difference, yet a difference. c). Intel core-i5(4210U) 4th. Generation with Intel 4400HD Graphics. Processing is very fast.Video watching experience is more than satisfactory and great. d).4GB DDR3 RAM(upgradeable to 8GB),dual slots for memory sticks. Mine came with a single 4GB DDR3 stick,so an empty slot present for additional 4GB DDR3 stick(which I shall attach in the very near future). 1TB of HDD. PLENTY OF SPACE. Graphics much decent and clear for non-gamers like me. e). Separate AMD Radeon R7 265M GPU for the Gamers and enthusiasts. With GCN and Enduro Technology by AMD. f).Back-lit keyboard a very big + point. g). Large touchpad with very good sensitivity, left right click buttons neatly laid off.The keyboard is of Island type keyboard, with adequate spacing between keys.Keys are very good in touch and type responsiveness. h).This is an Ultrabook as per Intel's standards. So DVD-writer is absent, which may be con for some but not for me. Already have an external DVD-writer from LG. i). Superior Aluminium built body, except the below surface, which is made up of very good plastic. j). Windows-8.1(64-bit) inbuilt. k). Though a little tricky process, but I've successfully installed openSUSE-13.2(64-bit) besides Windows-8.1,making it a DUAL BOOT OS Ultrabook. l).The Bacpack that came bundled is of Targus, which is EXCELLENT. m). The Intel Centrino wifi module is excellent, more efficient after Driver updates. No issues at all while networking in wifi mode. Even my ZTE MF190 3G USB modem is functioning superbly with Aircel 3G Prepaid connection. NO ISSUES AT ALL. Very fast 3G connectivity. Cons:---> Some very trivial yet important ones... a). Battery should be minimum of 4 cell.Though without using any external accessory, the battery backup time depending on usage scenario is about 4.5~5 hrs. MIND IT NO EXTERNAL ACCESSORY SHOULD BE USED,OTHERWISE BATTERY TENDS TO DEPLETE FAST. b).Battery should have been externally placed as a separate battery module for easy change(actually this feature is absent in an Ultrabook ,though) it would have been easier for us to change from DELL. c).Screen resolution should have been at least 1600x900 for a drooling experience. Still it is a supreme Ultrabook/Laptop for my needs and ultimate satisfaction.

Not at par with Dell

By SUSRUTon
When I bought a dell product I had a high expectations for its performance (as I paid a higher price). However, in my case touchpad stopped working or worked randomly quite often after initial month. Dell call center people were helpful but situation of my piece has not improved even after re-installation of drive and other suggested changes. (Now, I have to call them again and waste time correcting issues). Further, even when it works performance of touch pad is really bad (for comparison even Acer aspire one notebook works much better). I also faced usual RAM related issues while working with over sized (30MB) excel files. I fell I may have been better off with a product of some other manufacturer with better specifications available at same price. Why to pay a premium for brand if it is not performing?

Don't go by the specifications. Not a good buy.

I've had a lot of issues with this model. The WiFi range is beyond pathetic and the track-pad freezes every few minutes. Have tried everything from re-installing the OS and drivers to getting them changed physically. Doesn't help. Everything else works fine, as advertised. But the WiFi range and track-pad issue is a major deal breaker that hampers everyday usage. I'd recommend you to stay away from this particular model.

Product looks good but heating issue might KILL

By Flipkart Customeron
Previously I used the Dell Inspiron Series but it got Heating issues due to which it often get restarted. Now unfortunately I again bought Dell thinking that Dell must have corrected the Heating issue. But they haven't. Bad part is they have given the FAN at the bottom due to which this gets heated as soon as I start.Area around Keypad also get hot

Big Billion Big Laptop

By Prateek Jainon
I bought laptop in the big billion day sale, with a heavy discount.:) Tell you i was skeptic about the product as the discounted products generally dont turn out well. But tell you this is a Model u you will fall in love with it, just seeing the looks, light weight and completely slim body. I have been using it from past 2 months and till now its seriously working excellent. whether its performance, no heating, display, webcam, built in, body material, color everything looks great. Just dont have optical drive, which hardly anyone uses, so chill and go for this product. While many got disappointed with Flipkart big billion, I found this serious awesome laptop. Thank You Flipkart.
