Great laptop but purchase offline!!
By Saqibon
I purchased this laptop from a local store in nehru place for 82k. It was also available for 76k effectively on another leading cashback website (P@y Tm) but could wait or take risk.Apart from the config mentioned above, mine has a 128gb ssd included.I shall compare it with my second choice hp-052tx which was available for 80k with same config, at the same place.Pros:1) Amazing Display: The runner up Hp-cb052tx has 220nits display while as asus has 300+ nits (Dave lee mentioned 360nits) display. I have personally seen the both IPS displays. Clearly HP fades away. Further the color reproduction is great . Good for content creators.2) Upgradability is extremely easy on this device.3) Audio is loud but flat. Cant expect an inbuilt woofer to rip ur eardrums apart. Doesn't matter to me as i use JBL GO with all my devices.4) Power: Ci7 HQ processor is a beast. Handles software and programs easily.5) GTX 1050 is something i wont use much as i play games occasionally. It's however a good combo for gamers at this price point.6) The hinge mechanism is much better than what HP provides these days. HP's hinge tends to lift the laptop (good for airflow) but pulls the base backwards (bad because of rubber feet grip) on lifting the lid. Its more prone to damage eventually.7) No red accents. Thank God!!!8) SSD is blazingly fast. Laptop starts up in seconds. I don't hibernate my laptop anymore. Hp has a ssd too btw.Cons:1) The bag included is average as compared to the hp Odyssey bag. But its the machine u r paying for. Bag shouldn't be an issue then.2) Its cooling mechanism is better than Hp (see its internals online). However a disadvantage (for both) is that cool air enters from bottom side. So avoid using this laptop on a lap. Remember its a gaming laptop!3)its a fingerprint magnet. Use a skin just like i did.4) Build quality is not as solid as HP. Touchpad seems to be a bit loose before it registers a click. Since it uses windows precision drivers( hp doesn't) which is the need of 2018, I managed to laminate the entire touchpad using a matte skin. Works like a charm!!!! Further U use wireless mouse nowadays. So chillax!!hope this review helps!!!
AWESOME

Performance is top-notch, speakers are decent(loud but lack bass), display is a gorgeous and I bet it is best in its price segment(It has a 120hz ips display which is not mentioned anywhere online), thermal management is not so good(temp goes upto 85 degree while gaming, avg temp 75-80 ), fans are too noisy while gaming, RGB backlighting is awesome, battery backup is around 4-5 hrs on light usage and less than an hour when gaming, charging speed is slow, the special thing about this laptop is that it doesn't look like a gaming laptop with red accent all around.Overall I'm quite happy with this laptop.
Worth the money but it's got some cons
By Vikas Prabhuon
Bought it from Flipkart in March 2018. I picked it up from the warehouse myself but the packaging was decent.
TL;DR: I'm a UX designer, and this is a pretty decent laptop for the tools I use. But the laptop has some keyboard and build quality issues along with the fact that it only ships with 8 GB RAM at the 90k+ price point.
Things I liked:
- Good performance - I bought the laptop with a performance and cost in mind and I believe it is worth it.
- Really good screen w.r.t viewing angles and colour accuracy.
- Decent set of speakers - The sound is not going to fill a hall, but the quality is good to watch movies in bed or play a little music while working etc.
- The laptop is slightly on the slimmer and lighter side, but it feels a bit heavier than it looks maybe because things are so densely packed in a slim body.
- Toned down red accents - this is one of the rare gaming/multimedia laptops without ridiculous red accents all over. However, there is the ROG backlit logo on the screen which I ideally wouldn't have had.
- Decent screen hinge build quality - screen looks sturdy and is 1-hand operable too.
Things I disliked:
- Bad keyboard - not great feel, keys get stuck sometimes, gaming oriented space bar sucks, no dedicated END key (other than the one on the numpad which you can get only through NumLock - WTH?!), function keys offset from the numbers (e.g. F1 is above the 2 key). I would have rather had a non-full-size keyboard but with a proper set and layout of function keys.
- Not great body build quality - the laptop creaks when lifted due to the quality of the easy access panel. I believe there will be breakage over time if not handled properly.
- At this price point, 16 GB RAM should have been included, really.
- Fair amount of bloatware - You can easily get rid of it, but why is bloatware even being shipped in 2018? Don't OEMs have usage analytics?
Things I haven't tested the laptop for:
- Games - But from what I read in online reviews, it isn't half bad.
So, overall a really good laptop, but in some ways you've got to learn to work around the issues.
