like most of the folks reading the reviews, i too was hesitant on buying Adata.
I was not aware of this brand, nor does it carry the reputation of Seagate, WD, etc.
But well, even they do go bad and sometimes ship faulty disks.
But while checking for product reviews on tech forums, i found nothing wrong and decided to buy it as it was 3-4 k cheaper than seagate (or WD) and had a 3 yr warranty.
I primarily needed it to backup my PC data, so I could afford the risk.
Been using for about a month now, and no issues so far.
Registered my drive on Adata website for warranty insurance (no issues there as well).
[Always do this when u buy HDDs :)]
The transfer speeds are good and the product looks great.
I will re-edit this review after say about 6-8 months, let's see if Adata matches the more reputed brands in terms on longevity.

i purchased this hard disk after reading various reviews on the internet.
Adata is a brand from UK that is selling hard disks at a cheaper price than other brands.
the speeds are on par with other hard disks.it does not got very much hot over long usages,and looks great in white.
i brought a 2TB version for my friend and it also works great.

I am using this external hard drive from July, 2014. From day 1 to present the performance is exelent. No decrease in read/ wrtie speed. Always 90- 120 MB/s. Excellent product.

Everything about the product is good. Except that it is prone to scratches because of its glassy covering. Transfer speed is good. The look is good and also feels light.
Considering the price ( i got it for 6800) it is worth giving a shot.

Very Loose Cable Connection

While the case itself may be rubber covered and shockproof - the cable connection is really weak. Once it gets a little banged you can forget getting it to stay connected. Slightest touch or movement will disconnect and interrupt whatever you are doing. The way the cable attaches to the drive itself is absolutely horrible. It comes out on its own and I find myself having to keep reconnecting it.

I bought this product after a long research. I was at first nervous to go with "ADATA" brand.
But then I bought this one because three of my friends hard-disks had got permanently damaged after falling down.
I was worried that its speed will be low, But after testing it, I am very happy.
This is the speed I got in USB 3.0 Port.
Maximum Write speed:- 106MBPS
Maximum Read speed:- 104MBPS
Average Read/Write speed while copying movies :- 85 to 100MBPS
It took only 2 minutes 15 seconds to copy 10GB of movies.
This hardisk do not vibrate or make any sound while in operation. It is perfectly silent.
In some reviews, I had read that its rubberised casing is not properly sticked together and that it is a dust magnet.
But actually, It is only slightly movable at the centre part ( where the rubberised area meets the black middle piece.) I feel that it is the design itself.And if necessary, anyone can stick it using a superglue. Also, it is NOT a dust magnet, It do attract dust if you keep it in mud, but in normal usage it looks perfectly clean.
The wire- wraparound feature is also very nice.This makes sure that I never misplace its wires.
This Hard-disk looks like a very rugged and sturdy device. Everyone who saw this beast, just fell in love with it and some of my friends are also planning to buy it.
According to my research, this is the only good hardisk of ADATA, I suggest NOT to go with any other model of adata hard-disks.
This is the best Hardisk available in under Rs7000 category.
A GENUINE REVIEW OF PREVIOUS USER

I had purchased this hdd from flipkart 1.5 yr ago after reading an article in TOI stating it as most sturdy hdd.
No doubt its a sturdy hdd but the BIGGEST problem with it is that the input slot where we attach wire is very fragile . It moves laterally and it literally makes your heart stop as you know that it can make your hard disk useless.
I used my hdd with utmost care for one year for e.g. not to move it while connected ,to put wire subtly in its slot but problem with this is that sometimes you have to give your hdd to other ppl. for taking data, movies,etc. and its not necessary that they will have same passion for handling it as we have , so due to this your hdd might start deteriorating day by day and one day comes when it stops working(so does your brain and heart).
You will try everything that day but nothing will work and finally you have to take it to service center who tell you that it takes 3 grand per GB to RECOVER. I asked him thrice that is it per gb or per tb and answer remained same(my grandtotal of recovery was coming something about 27 lacs so recovery was out of option and i had to get it replaced ) .
So my final advice is that if you yourself are always gonna handle it and maintain it then it will be in your best interest to buy it as it gives nearly 70mBps copying speed along with is unparallel sturdiness.
BUT...
If many ppl. are gonna handle this hdd and you cant always keep eye on them then with a heavy heart i recommend that you buy some other hdd or else one day u might literally die due to shock of losing all your DATA.

I've purchased this hard drive from Flip-kart after reading so many positive feedback. But, I didn't find this one a worth full product. It's look and feel is it's only positive side. You will definitely disappointed with the performance. I've read that, it's max speed with USB 2.0 would be 30MB/Sec. But, it is not crossing 16MB/SEC. I've not tested it's performance with USB 3.0 since my laptop doesn't support USB 3.0. My strong recommendation is not to buy this product. Better to go with WD or Seagate.

Coming to product. So far hard disk works fine. The package contains a hard-disk and USB 3.0 to 2.0 connector.
Product is awesome. Excellent speeds, great response time, and sturdy performance.
But, once I had got my 500GB version develop some unrecoverable bad sectors. Still, there is no drive on earth that can fail.
I've been using it for over an year now. So far so good.
Flipkart was again awesome...

Good product. Sand blasting makes it scratch & finger print resistant. Writing Speed is also good, it flickers between 65mb/sec to 85mb/sec. The only con - is the connecting wire - too short.

Good, tough, waterproof, good looking HDD totally worth of money. There are many Ext,HDDs out there at similar or lesser price, but problem with that is, if you accidentally knock on a hard surface or spill water on it, your valuable data is gone.. but not if you have this HDD. I tested it's capability and impressed with the results.
Pros.
1. Good Rubber outer shell.
2. Good transfer speed (110MB/S on my system).
3. Military grade shockproof, waterproof design.
Cons.
1. Default system format is FAT32.
2. The rubber cap of the USB port is tricky to close.

I saw some user complaining like cable isn't tightly sit in HDD's port. Nope, My HDD is perfect, Actually It's tight enough to the level that you can lift your hdd by holding the cable.. No noise, No heat generated, No data transfer limit (format your hdd to NTFS), No connecting issues. Very solid, looks perfect, performs well.. ?

The Durability and the built quality of the product does actually feel like military grade.Buying a black color indeed has its own cons, attracts a lot of lint.(I keep it in bag sometimes)Wire sometimes feel like it should've been a bit more long. And yes the flap to cover the USB port is li'l bit loose, so I prefer not to take it with me in the shower
