Does the job well

The Preethi drop cafe maker is a great solution for those looking to make Filter coffee. The double-net mechanism ensures proper filtration. Coffee liquid is available in a matter of minutes.
The only thing I would say is different from my original expectation is that the unit does not appear as sturdy and durable as appears in the picture. The parts are very light, which is a good thing in the short run....but I do wonder whether these are durable. Hopefully, I will be able to post an updated review after a year of using it.

First of all for all indians, this machine helps make "South Indian Filter Coffee". You REQUIRE coffee powder (Details later), to use with this. Your "Instant coffee" powders will not work here!!
Review:
I bought this at a discout sale, and works well. The design is pretty simple.
1. Put coffee powder in white seive container
2. Put water in the chamber (Amount based on how strong/weak you want the 'Decoction' to be)
3. Switch on pulg and little red switch.
4. Switch off plug as soon as the light in red switch goes off!! (This takes about 5~10 mins)
5. Wait for the dripping and percolating to finish.
To all my North, East, West, Centeral Indian readers:
TL;DR: Filter coffee is made out of percolated hot water that absorbs flavour, taste and aroma of coffee powder.
You need to purchase coffee powder that is made from roasted ground beans/fresh ground beans seperately. Most people use a blend: 70:30 or 60:40, which is the ratio of Coffee:Chicory. (Chicory is part of the coffee plant which has prebiotic properties, also reduces the cost per cup and changes flavour in its own way).
The decoction is either drunk directly (Black coffee/expresso) or with milk (1:3::Decoction:Milk) or 1:4 or 1:5, depending on the strength of the flavor one can handle.
Pros:
1. Simple machine where you put powder, water and wait for a few minutes, and your coffee decoction will be made by itself.
2. If the boiler stops working, just heat/boil water on the stove and pour slowly on to the seive.
3. Keeps Decoction warm when its in the machine (When on).
Cons:
1. Quite costly, more like a luxury item for such a simple job.
2. Need to pay attention to when the red light in the switch goes off, so as to not reduce the the life of the machine.
brilliant product

It's the best drip coffee maker in its' class. A very simple but fool proof process when compared to other products. The decoction is strong and residue free, unlike other coffee makers, whose decoction is inadequate(diluted regardless of the quantity of coffee powder you add) and always contain residues.
cool product!

An awesome coffee maker

I got this after reading the many reviews. I got medium roasted filter coffee and I put in about 5 tea spoons for 375 ml of water. It tales 30 minutes to filter properly and tastes absolutely delicious. The clean up is very simply and consumes very little time. Extremely satisfied.
Good

Pros: 1.This is my first Coffee maker,so i cant compare with any other make or model.Having said,I find this very suitable for making South Indian Filter Coffee . 2. Cord-length is extra long makes it convenient for usage at any desired place. 3. Pricing is competitive,Service is very good. 4. Amazon Delivery is very quick and promptCons: 1. Preethi has to improve its quality, plastic is very cheap.
Must for a filter coffee lover!

Using this product from past 2 years. Being a typical south indian iyer family, we daily use this for preparing the decoction. No problems faced till date. Couple of times have even forgotten to switch off after the red light went off, however the machine worked well and there wasnt asny problem. The quality of decoction is really thick and good.
Rebranded Product- Build Quality Inadequate.
By Anuon
Disappointing build quality and assembly. The bottom of the steel decoction jar has a sticker "Atul Coffee Jar". Unimpressive functionality. Doesn't bring any value addition over other established brands.
Best product at this price range.

Although design looks outdated but it has classic look. I have been using this product for nearly 10 years, as the old one got scrapped I have bought the new one.
