One of the best !!!!!
By RIDERBOXon
One of the best Camera for beginner. I'm very happy with the camera performance & result.Apart from that there is play memories where you can download effect and use them. It also blur the background and focus on subject very fast however in HX300 there was option for defocus high, mid & low well !!! This option I have not found in HX400.

I previously had a Panosonic travel zoom camera .While this one has a 50x zoom where I did not find the quality image at extreme zoom . My be I still have to learn more about this camera. Somebody had earlier said even at 27000 INR it is still a budget camera . I THINK THAT IS CORRECT !
Picture clarity and depth issue.
By SUBHASIS RAHAon
Snap quality is not as expected from Zeiss optics. Major photo clarity issue. Otherwise good on sophisticated function.
Guys definitely go for it !!!!

Overall a fun-to-use good superzoom, worth owning one despite the negatives listed.
Positives:
* Fast focus makes it easy to capture any scene
* Manual Ring enables fine-tuning of zoom or focus
* Good OIS, image is sharp in both W and T ends despite my not-so-stable hands
* Overall nice PQ (but painterly smoothing when seen at 50%-100%)
* In general, good pics from Auto mode (and with user-set higher limit for iso)
* Liked Aperture mode shooting (can get shallow DOF with some effort)
* Function button eases access to frequently used settings (e.g. HDR)
* Nice to have ability to zoom and use manual settings during video shoot
* Happy to see firmware updates (2.0 fw gives movie shooting from phone);awaiting relevant playmemories app for camera.
Negatives:
* Occasional but severe software bugs (phone zoom got "stuck" once and had to remove/reinsert battery); almost returned the product consequently.
* Dodgy wifi connectivity to PC (not a camera wifi problem, it is more to with the PC's PMH software)
* 10fps burst shoot works alright; but time before next burst shot is nearly 4-5 secs (time taken to write to flash even with a 60MB/s write SDHC)
* No image-capture when doing movie recording
* Battery life is far lower than the claimed 300 shots (will need to carry a spare battery around)
* Cannot use camera (even for playback) when it is being charged
Good value for Money

This is my first camera purchase. And I am fairly satisfied with the product. The delivery took 11 days to complete. I have to say that I was not satisfied with the quality of the packaging. The packaging appeared to be squashed (probably during transit), but the product was received in good condition.
I don't have much experience with photography; but even then learning how to work with this device was really easy. Sony has done a good job with making the OS really intuitive and easy to grasp. The build quality is good and it does feel sturdy. The response of the camera is really good and has given me some great pictures in good daylight conditions. However in low light conditions the image quality suffers, especially with longer zoom. But I am not really complaining; using a tripod and adjusting the camera parameters does indeed reduce low light noise.
There are tons of features inbuilt into the camera that make taking sharp images a breeze. For example peaking levels (i don't know if any other makers use this technique), focus assist, optical image stabilization, etc. The ability to use semi-automatic focus (DMF-Direct Manual Focus) is really great for macro shots. The 50x optical zoom is awesome. The steady shot feature ensures that camera shake doesn't affect quality of image even without tripod. The battery life is quite good.
One significant con is that it's not possible to use the flash for macro shots with the zoom at it's lowest as the lens barrel will cast a shadow on the subject.
Again I am not really sure if there is a better option for a similar price. I would totally recommend this product for beginners.
Best Bridge Camera for 2014
By Rakesh Malhotraon
After 2 months of review following are the facts involved which made me buy this:
1.) Only bridge Camera with 5 K still Image
2.) Amazingly quick auto focus
3.) Better apreture among other bridge cameras
4.) Bigger mega Pixel (Good for picture clicks under digi zoom)
5.) 100 - 3200 ISO sufficient Enough as with this sensor size more iso would compromise the image quality
6.) shutter speed 1/4000 better than sx 50 and equal to p600,p530 and p520
7.) Video shoot @ 50fps
There would be few more USP's which i may be missing here.
Any one can buy this one
This is the best a point and shoot can get
By SuSion
Firstly...there is no such thing as a semi DSLR, its either a point and shoot or a DSLR. Sony HX400V is an advanced point and shoot camera, and what a camera it is. I own a Nikon D5200 DSLR and have also used Sony HX400V. The manual controls that a DSLR provides is unparallel and no bridge/advanced P&A can compete with that. That said, the pictures captured by Sony HX400V are no doubt DSLR like....they really are unless you dont want to crop/zoom or print on a large piece of paper. Pics taken by a DSLR (in my case Nikon D5200 with 18-55 kit lens) and Sony HX400V look to be of the same quality on your PC screen, I mean it guys. And mostly our pics do not go beyond our desktops or the web. So if you wish to do everyday photography, which includes family, landscapes, trips to hills, sea side etc.....plz buy this camera, it is an amazing camera. Buy a DSLR only if you wish to spend further on lenses and other accessories and if you want to become photographer.
Guys definitely go for it !!!!
