The Secret of the Nagas by Amish Tripathi is the sequel to the national bestseller, The Immortals of Meluha. In this second book of the Shiva trilogy Amish interprets the evolution of a simple man into the divine almighty.
The sinister Naga warrior has killed his friend Brahaspati and now stalks his wife Sati. Shiva, the Tibetan immigrant destined to destroy all evil will not rest till he finds his demonic adversary. His determination to avenge all evil leads him to the door of the Nagas or the serpent people.
Shiva is in pursuit of the truth in a land of mysteries, only to discover that nothing is as it seems. There is a malicious rise of evil and the kingdom is dying as it is held ransom for a miracle drug. The crown prince is murdered and the Vasudev`s, Shiva`s philosopher guides, take to the dark side, betraying his faith. Fierce battles will be fought and surprising alliances will be forged.
Meluha the once perfect empire, is riddled with a secret in the land of Maika. Unknown to Shiva, there is a master puppeteer behind the grand game. There are incredible secrets to be unraveled in this second book of the Shiva Trilogy.
About the Author :Other Title From Amish TripathiThe book is very nice. No doubt that Amish has proven himself as a great writer. I loved the book while reading it. Some Times I got lost inside the story. I promise that it is the best realism created by any Indian author on a mythical character.I had thought that the "Immortals" was a bit slow. But, this one is more happening. If you have read the first part, then you should read this one as well. It is far better. My first purchase with Infibeam. Good deal.Fast delivery. This book does not only impress us with the amazing storyline but also great writing by the author. The story grabs your interest from the 1st page of the 1st part of the trilogy series. This book just adds to your curiosity. Waiting eagerly for the 3rd book. The book is simply great since it provides an identity to Indians. Many of us till now have been under the impression propagated by the West that India was a dark, casteist nation with a history beginning from the Aryan Invasion. Amish has succeeded in unshrouding the truth about India and has scripted the book by fusing fact and fiction in a wonderful way. He has achieved something which certain historians concerned about the grave distortion of India's past, were not able to achieve after attempting for at least a century. The book gives a delightful experience and takes the reader into an ancient world. In a simple and appealing language, the book advocates a superior way of life (as propagated by our ancient seers) for all of us, which is not difficult to achieve provided the whole society works for it. Amish has also written in such a way that a person can easily identify fact and fiction, as well as principles that can be applicable or not in the present society, but nevertheless appreciate the way of life of the ancients truly by getting inspired from their system and ideals and at the same time by getting fascinated about the (supposedly) hypothetical events and thereby driving the readers to check out the possibility of modern scientific implications for the same. In one stroke Amish draws economists, engineers, medical professionals, religious scholars, conservative elders and every other category of people to this book. It is a must read for every Indian and this book has the potential to bring the 'divide and rule' politics played by India's politicians to a grinding halt paving the way for India's prosperity. After the hopes created by Immortals Of Meluha this book would definitely take you on the second round.....I had earlier wrote a critising mail on one of teh previous delivery, but i am very happy that Infibeam had delevered it on time and am a happy customer. Infibeam is always by fisrtcchoice and i will continue to do the same....thanks you!Good read! Gets you further hooked on to the series.. waiting for the last and final part!its good to shopping with infibeam.'The Secrect of the Nagas' is a fair book to read in itself. But compared to its prequel, it seems to fizzle out under the heat of expectations which soared with the success of 'The Immortals of Meluha'. Its like building a structure with Lego blocks. Amish picks up from the abundance myths, characters and traditions from Indian folklore and mixes them as best as he can, to bring out something which I hope is the proverbial 'two steps back' before the third and final part of the Shiva trilogy. Reading it is not a thrill, but just a prerequisite to reading the third book. The packaging, the impromptu delivery all added with a very reasonable price, the Secret of the Nagas was indeed a very good buy for me. If things remain the same and the service provided by infibeam remains the same, I doubt the number of people going to bookstores will dwindle in a very few days. I personally recommended the site to a number of people. It was a really good experience shopping at Infibeam.com.. The service was fast and prompt.Started reading 3 months back. My 5th book and my first buy.
Thanks to Infibeam got the book in just 3 days from the day I brought. Thanks once again. Loved the book!!It was indeed a steal with infibeam..I happened to compare the price for nagas with many websites online and infibeam stood out with the best bargain. I got it delivered in 5 days time as COD. Would recommend this site for everyone..!Although the book did not match the suspense created in the "Immortals of Meluha", it was a good read. It was a great joy to read the author's version of the great Indian Mythology and his take on some of the facets that seem improbable except for divine intervention.
If you have read the first part, I don't think you should read a review like this for buying the book. All i can say is I will be eagerly waiting for the third installment of the "Shiva Trilogy" - maybe as eagerly as I had for Harry Potter and the deathly Hallows.
